m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.
My pregnancy : My pregnancy was complicated with high BP diagnosed 1 month before due date and preeclampsia one day before delivery. I didn't used any drugs for BP. I had an UTI and cold in 4th month of gestation for which i used Sudafed and Nitrofurantoin. And i used multivitamin pills and Iron pills.
Her past medical history : She is full term baby delivered by c-section with birth weight of 7.12lbs.
I personally think it's selfish and foolish to drink during pregnancy. Your putting your baby's health at risk and fetal development during the first trimester is crucial. Any alcohol use during pregnancy can result in a child being born with FASD. To me it's not worth the risks.
Just dont smoke, drink, do drugs, be careful about medications you take thats it. Dont worry too much about foods you eat or drink. One or two cups of coffee/tea is fine. Just reduce the intake.
No its not especially in the first trimester. Rapid development of babies major organs, brain and spinal cord happen in the first trimester. I hear some women have a small glass while pregnant personally I wouldnt but if you were to you should wait at least until the middle of the second trimester. Ask your doctor. It is currently not recommended that any alcohol be taken in while pregnant since FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome) is not completely understood on when and how it all happens.
Although the exact cause of Chiari Malformation is unknown, it is thougt that a problem during fetal development may cause the abnormal brain formation. Concerning motor development, progression is more important than timing. If each month your infant has been getting more and more of her body off the ground -- such as going from crawling to standing to cruising (walking while holding onto furniture) -- this is a normal progression regardless of the timing.

The baby only measured 1cm which from my research isnt as big as most are this far long however Im not panicking about that as Ive been told all fetal development is different. Ive also taken some comfort in how nauseated ive been which to me is a good sign, but not so fun! So as of now I am relaxed and excited!!
My 1st appointment w/ the maternal/fetal specialist is coming up. Iam only seeing this doctor due to "advanced maternal age", no problems. Wondering what to expect at this appointment. Seeing my OB the same day, so looking forward to him explaining more to me but just thought I'd get some other mom's experiences. Thanks!
She said that the gestational and yolk sacs were visible but I will need to make an appointment in a week to come back to see the fetal pole and heartbeat, that it is just too soon to tell. She never mentioned what the two white dots inside the gestational sac were. Was it my baby, more than one, the beginnings of the fetal pole? Anyone know, or is it too early to know? Do the dots indicate fetal matter? Would she have been able to see anything inside this early?
