If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!
Breathing in the Womb
Babies do not actually breathe in the womb---at least, not in the usual sense. Fetal lungs are not fully functional, and are not even able to fully expand, until after birth. During the later stages of gestation, the fetus may "practice" breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. The fetal lungs do not process the amniotic fluid, the way fully formed lungs process air, but experts believe this "breathing" is important to fetal lung development.
I agree with Darkestlight. There are a lot of different options. One possibility is that these are "Choroid plexus cysts" which can be part of normal fetal brain development and often disappear spontaneously before 32 weeks gestation. Other types of cysts can be markers for other conditions.

Fetal Pole (6 weeks)
A mass of fetal cells, separate from the yolk sac, first becomes apparent on transvaginal ultrasound just after the 6th week of gestation. This mass of cells is known as the fetal pole. It is the fetus in its somite stage. Usually you can identify rhythmic fetal cardiac movement within the fetal pole, although it may need to grow several mm before this is apparent.
The fetal pole grows at a rate of about 1 mm a day, starting at the 6th week of gestational age.
Development, Gestation, Conception. They give different dates for when the second trimester begins and for when the third trimester begins. Your health care provider might prefer to use the Development method, while another Midwife or Doctor may use the Gestation method.
I am sure they do that just to confuse pregnant women.

This uses actual developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy. From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs and becomes a fetus.
Week 6 - Gestational Age (Fetal age 4 weeks)
5 ½ to 6 ½ weeks is usually a very good time to detect either a fetal pole or even a fetal heart beat by vaginal ultrasound. The fetal pole is the first visible sign of a developing embryo. This pole structure actually has some curve to it with the embryo’s head at one end and what looks like a tail at the other end. The fetal pole now allows for crown to rump measurements (CRL) to be taken, so that pregnancy dating can be a bit more accurate.
The preferred time to perform targeted fetal echocardiograms is between 18 and 24 weeks gestation. That time frame usually gives good imaging windows of the fetal heart. Earlier gestational ages might have grainy, fuzzy images due to the small size of the heart. Later in gestation, the images may be shadowed by the ribs and other bones.

During embryological development, some fetuses may form choroid plexus cysts. These fluid-filled cysts can be detected by a level II ultrasound (18–20 weeks gestation). The finding is relatively common, with a prevalence of ~1%. Choroid plexus cysts (CPC) can be an isolated finding, which confers a 1% (variable based on population studied) risk of fetal aneuploidy. The risk of aneuploidy increases to 10.5-12% if other risk factors or ultrasound findings are noted.
They say they are watching it becuase it maybe or could become an unhelathy environment for the baby. What do they mean by unhealthy environment ? What impact on the baby can this low ambiotic fluid have ?

1. By dates for which she is sure (LMP 14/12/08) she should be 9 4/7 weeks ??wrong dates?? gestational problem. A review ultrasound in 10 - 14/7 is advised to verify a live gestation.
2. There is a small inferior peri-sac bleed.
I had gone to the doctor because I was having a bit of pain in my abdomen and my back hurt and after intercourse there was pink discharge which didn't last long maybe about 15-20 mins it wasn't a constant flow either.
hi again just wonderin if any one can help as before i told u i found out i was pregenant on the 16th on the 17th i had a bright red bleed with clots of which stopped in a hour went to the doctors on the 18th she told me to come back in 2 weeks well i have gone back the test was still positive so she sent me 4 a scan of which i have had would like to no on the notes the sonographer wrote it says there is a gestation sac measuring 12mm x 13mm there is a suspicion of a yolk sac noted within the ge
I can tell you, From experience that a baby's heart is fully developed by week 18, which is why doctors do fetal echos between 18-24 weeks, it's the soonest they can visualize the heart without the bones getting in the way or "shadowing" it, and also the latest for them to detect holes and other issues.
There are many cases when a baby has a hole or two early on and as the baby grows and the heart continues to grow the holes close or get smaller on their own.
When I went to my 1st u/s I was supposed to be due mar 3rd by my LMP but the baby was measuring 6 days smaller so my due date changed to mar 9th. Hope this helps.
m 13 weeks in and i had bleeding last night went to the er and they did a sonogram found gestational sac within the endometrial cavity with fetal pole corresponding to 13 week and 4 day gestation. .fetal heart rate 160bpm .
