Avatar f tn 14 In a study of 63 cases with matched controls, mothers with low serum fT4 at 12 weeksgestation who continued to have low levels at weeks 24 and 32 were at risk of having a child with delays in mental and motor development at one and two years of age. This neurodevelopmental delay was even more profound when the mothers had a continuing decrease in serum fT4 as pregnancy progressed.
Avatar n tn If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!
Avatar f tn With this method you take the 40 weeks of gestation and divide by three. Here the second trimester begins at 13w 3d and the third at 26w 6d. by Conception: This method is where you take the 38 weeks of post conception development, divide by three, and add two weeks. Here the second trimester begins at 14w 5d and the third at 27w 3d.
Avatar f tn Breathing in the Womb Babies do not actually breathe in the womb---at least, not in the usual sense. Fetal lungs are not fully functional, and are not even able to fully expand, until after birth. During the later stages of gestation, the fetus may "practice" breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid. The fetal lungs do not process the amniotic fluid, the way fully formed lungs process air, but experts believe this "breathing" is important to fetal lung development.
Avatar f tn I agree with Darkestlight. There are a lot of different options. One possibility is that these are "Choroid plexus cysts" which can be part of normal fetal brain development and often disappear spontaneously before 32 weeks gestation. Other types of cysts can be markers for other conditions. Does your daughter have a follow-up with a specialist?
Avatar f tn A fetal heart rate below 100 beats per minute (bpm) at 5 to 7 weeks of gestation is considered slow. Higher rates of fetal loss are associated with lower fetal heart rates; survival is zero at heart rates below 85 bpm at 6 to 8 weeks of gestation. That said a normal heart rate (110s-160s) by 8 weeks gestation confers a much better prognosis. A repeat sonogram to detect the fetal heart in 3-4 weeks will be helpful. Best regards, Dr.
5492154 tn?1374801006 Im going by what everyone else goes by 40 weeks. Look it up. Of course not evey has there baby at 40 weeks some up to 4 weeks early. But im just going by the 40 weeks that we're suppose to be prego. And idk why you don't understand what im trying to say. Im not going by the calendar im going by 4 weeks 7 days a week which is 28. I was clear and even did the math.
Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound at 8wks 2days gestation. The EHR (embryonic heart rate) was recorded at 141bpm, everything I have read suggests the heart rate should be higher somewhere in the 160 - 170's (although I am aware that internet search engines can be your worst enemy at times). The embryo measured at 19mm which correlates with my last LMP and Ovulation dates, as I tracked my cycle. The sonographers report stated that it was a normal intrauterine pregnancy at 8wks 2 days.
