847512 tn?1272567062 This medication may cause constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea or flushing the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: irregular or slow heartbeat, anxiety, tremors, seizures. If the area around the patch becomes red, itchy or irritated, try a new site. If the irritation continues or becomes worse, contact your doctor.
Avatar f tn So does anyone else have these symptoms as well? And do these side effects in fact subside or should I grin and bear it with the oxycontins? The sooner the better I say... Thank you all for sharing your experiences, its been such a great help! Thanks again, rachael.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
Avatar n tn I was on 25 mcg of fentanyl and was having side effects so I took the patch off 3 days ago, Now I am in terrible pain all over and can barely get out of bed. What can I do ? If I can tough it out a few more days will I get better?
Avatar f tn Please, it is a dangerous drug and the side effects and very hard to reverse. Please read up on this drug and understand how much control it takes over your mind and body without you even realizing it, that is how powerful this drug is. I am called "The Mad Man' who detoxed off these drugs due to fear of what they were doing and you can read my posts to understand what it did to me. Never again!!!
Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
1264863 tn?1391118193 I know my post seems a bit involved and strange, but in basic words - using erythromycin - or an antibiotic in that same family - can greatly increase the amount of fentanyl found in your blood plasma. This increase can not only increase any side effects you get from the fentanyl, but it could also cause breathing problems. and becuase of this increase, it could interfere with an accurat urine blood test if given.
Avatar n tn Please heed the cautions and side-effects and the long-term effects this drug will have on your health, your personality and your life. Avoid it at all costs if you are able! I would advocate stricter prescribing protocols for this drug, terminal cancer notwithstanding.
Avatar f tn I started to work out, dropped all the weight gained from the Fentanyl and the other 8 meds I needed to take due to the side effects of the Fentanyl, and now am on two patches (50 and 12) and on a razors edge as pain goes. Recently had heaps of dental work done. Crowns replaced, amalamates removed etc and my THS went through the roof. The hospital over-seer will not approve my back surgery ( all cardio bloods etc are EXCELLENT) and everyone is amazed I am 65 years old. What is going on?
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to conceive and my question is whether it is safe to conceive while on the patch and of the patch effects fertility? I had an ostomy during my first pregnancy and had an extremely healthy pregnancy and daughter thank Gd and I really hope to be blessed with another healthy child and pregnancy....thx so much for advice!
Avatar f tn t tell you which side effect went with which drug! Do a search online for side effects to fentanyl and you should get a good idea of what may or may not occur. After the fentanyl stopped working for me in the way it should by dosage, I had the wonderful experience of seeing a PA while my doctor was on vacation. This was in Reno, NV. She said, lets try methadone. My extreme pain went away immediately with the first dose and now the dose I take manages the pain that I'm using it for.
5135507 tn?1367163227 drs need to think about our well being a lot more than they do and we should investigate, via the I-net, any meds they give us for side effects and possible withdrawals, when the time comes. You will become immune to fentanyl if taken long enough. I did. It's not worth passing away in your sleep because of the high dose they put you on.
Avatar m tn I went to my Doc. today and he wants me to start on Fentanyl. I tried this once before and i got very tired so i thought this is not going to work for me. If i remeber right they were 12mg patches. I also been on Vicodin ES, Percocet, MS Contin, Suboxone, Vicoprofen. I'm wondering if this is a drug that you can function on as far as work and also if 20mg patches are to strong to start out. I know i'm very tolerant to painmeds but have no real experience with Fentanyl.
Avatar f tn i have ben on the fentanyl patch quite awhile 100mg and have gone down to 50 mg, my health ended and my last patch ends in 4 days and im scared.
767538 tn?1276575320 I am afraid of side effects though. All of the others( morphine, codine, percocet and methadone) caused me to develop severe skin itching, no visible rash, just bad itching on my arms and legs. After three benedryls and a half hour it finally goes away. Anybody else have these problems?
Avatar m tn My wife has been perscribed fentanyl patches and has been told not to eat grapefruit, does this apply to all citrus fruit ie.
Avatar f tn Maybe someone will know the answer to this. (I'm sure the NP went over it with me, but my memory is totally shot.) I am just not sure exactly how the Fentanyl patch works. I know it releases the medicine through your skin over a period of hours. I started out changing it every 72 but she changed it to every 48. What I'm wondering is, if I were to take it off and not put another one on, how long would the medicine still work?
767538 tn?1276575320 I ultimately found that the upper back was a good place. The hip can be overly touched and pressured by clothing. I was on 2 100mcg (yes at one time) in the past, and I never had problems with side effects. I'm very resistant to the effects of narcotics - always have been - even when first used for medical reasons when in college. I've not had a problem with abusing them ever, which is something I'm thankful for, as with that kind of tolerance, I'd be in trouble!
Avatar m tn s help (he told us both last year that he doubts that she will ever get off the medication because of her condition) even though she often cries in pain the side effects from the fentanyl have been so bad as during the last few years she has lost over 2 stone in weight, has no appetite suffers with anxiety and depression and having a conversation that she can remember days later is becoming a big problem, she begged me to help her get off the patches a couple of months ago as she says she wakes
Avatar f tn ) lidocaine patch There all really different and they each have pros and cons, as well as a big spectrum of side effects -- for example, in the forums here, I see people mentioning the hell they go through withdrawing from fentanyl. And at the same time, it looks like withdrawing from buprenorphine (or any opiate for that matter) is no walk in the park, either.
