Femara uterine cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Femara uterine cancer

femara

384150 tn?1399904816 My RE told me clomid works very poorly on older women ( not sure who is talking about :) ), and can make the uterin lining very thin, he does not recomend it for me. Anyone hear anything different from their doctor? Also - I usually have a 2 day period with my LP at about 9-10 days. I have been taking VB6 100mg reguarly and my LP is now 11 days. Well my period ia now on day 3 this month so far. Do you think that means I had more lining to shed - that would be a good thing. Right?
Avatar f tn The only downside to Femara is that although I hear it works great many doctors still do not presecribe it for ovulation. It is not FDA approved for fertility issues so many of them refuse to even consider recommending it. Which is very unfortunate. It does not hurt to ask them tho. :) Good Luck!
495138 tn?1221217880 s supposed to be better for your lining and your CM. I would definitely talk to the doctor about it. Femara is really a breast cancer drug, but it's "off-label" use is for Fertility, so I think some doctors don't prescribe it. If you search online about it, you will find a lot of scary info. on birth defects, but I have found that it leaves your system really quickly, so this is only a cause for concern if you take it while you are pregnant (Clomid has the same warning).
Avatar f tn What is a good way to thicken the uterine lining. My lining my last two cycles have been 7mm then 5mm. I was on clomid both times, and my RE has switched me to Letrozole. I'm going on vacation this month so won't start a cycle till October. I heard baby aspirin will help, but not sure if this is safe.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.
Avatar n tn Hey, I know I heard that Clomid can cause your uterine lining to be thin. Was your uterine lining thin before the Clomid. I hope this IUI works for you. I am in the dreaded TWW too.
Avatar f tn So then they prescribed four days worth of some other type of drug which is also primarily used for breast cancer treatment and pretty much works the same way as the femara called tamoxifcan or something similar. I can't remember I don't have the bottle in front of me. It's similar anyway. I just finished taking my second dose of it so I have Friday night and Saturday night to go.
Avatar f tn My RE says my uterine lining is very thin; it went from 7mm to 5mm on clomid (have sense switched to Femera). Has anyone had problems with thin lining and if so, how did you thicken it.
Avatar f tn mrs_hynes femara is available in Canada but I do not know if they would prescribe it to you talk to your obgyn. Femara is used to treat breast cancer in women but can also be used for infertility although its not approved by the fda. Here's a website for you to check out www.hc-sc.gc.ca it's about femara in canada.
503702 tn?1276176714 Im in recurrence of OVCA after 15thms. did chemo and avastin trial. Thank you.
Avatar f tn One more thing-my RE switched me to femara because my uterine lining is very thin. Clomid natrually thins your lining so if you have that issue, you may want to stick with femara. Just food for thought.
1108951 tn?1258618690 Femara works mostly the same as clomid - however, femara doesn't thin your uterine lining like clomid does giving an embryo a good chance to be able to implant. Typically Femara has less side effects and is tolerated better. As far as dosage..you'll need to talk to your doc about that. Chances are they will start you on the lowest dose just like clomid and go from there. Most docs want you to take clomis CD 3 - 7, but some say 5 - 9.
Avatar f tn What is your opinion in taking femara to get pregnant? I have taken it for 3 months now. Waiting to see if I will need this months's dose.
478429 tn?1265244387 Okay, so I have searched the net, and have found nothing about what causes water in the uterus except uterine cancer.... I'm not really freaking out since there is probably a low chance on this but.... UGH!!! What can cause this???
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did femara with injectibles, worked first shot and I just had my baby girl feb 21st. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My Dr put me on Femara for the 3-7 day of AF . Was wondering if anyone has taken this drug and how long did it take to get pregnant?
Avatar n tn I had a double masectomy 1-1/2 years ago and have finished chemo treatments in April of 08 and now I am on Femara for about a year. My question is can I get a recurrence of cancer of some sort (i know it won't be breast) while I'm actually still using Femara?
Avatar f tn Hello! well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...
374593 tn?1257879950 Not sure if this is more likely from my recent lap (3 weeks ago) or from the femara? anyone have any ideas? Do you think that it will affect my uterine lining this month if AF was only around for a mild 2.5 days? Thanks!
Avatar f tn When I take chemo, my CA125 gets higher. So, I hope the Femara works for you. If your cancer is like mine, you are lucky, and Femara will help. I live a normal life until the med wears off, about every two years. I have had no side effects that I am aware of.
Avatar f tn The femara is better for you because it doesn't thin your uterine lining like clomid does. I also noticed alot less side effects with the femara. I didn't use the menopur with it though, so I only had one follicle. But it worked for me on the 2nd cycle!
Avatar n tn ve personally never taken clomid, but they say that people have fewer hot flashes while on femara too.... we took femara 2.5mg once a day for two cycles, then upped it to 5mg once a day in combination with follistim and IUI's and got our BFP.. unfortunately miscarried but i will be starting that combo again tonight! GOOD LUCK! let me knwo if you have any questions or if there is anything i can help you with!
Avatar f tn I am on femara 5 days a month, but been warned that since it actually made for breast cancer patiences one should never take them unwatched. My sister has breast cancer and it stems from hormons. Don't risk it been my suggestion but you must decided. Its just not something worth messing around to possibly mess your whole system over. Rather go and see a gyni and save yourself from complications.
Avatar f tn s counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
320424 tn?1205500555 and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
