Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar f tn Idk. I just can't think of anyother way to get the fear to stop. I've tried twice before and it just won't go away. I have anxiety and stress disorder and this is really making me sick.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
Avatar f tn Dear Joggen, I really appreciate the things you do for people like us who have irrational/maybe rational fears. As for me I think I can safely be diagnosed as having OCD now. I'm freaking out about an incident that everyone in HIV prevention community (including you) said no risk. I decided to go and get tested just to make sure. The window period will be up in couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn i was driving confidently for the last 8 years. suddenly start to fear driving especially curves...now i could not take the vehicle in the middle of the road..i try to avoid and automatically i drive on left side of the road instead of straight...so i loose balance..i am sittiting also slightly towards left...this problem is giving me sleepless night...please advise me..........
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar f tn Hiya well, personally i would say if you have such a fear at the moment of HIV/STD's etc.. then you really need to sit and think about what actions while performing love making really trigger the anxiety.
Avatar f tn Driving test tomorrow nervous as hell. I really want to pass before baby come's. Come October i will be a mother of 2 children and i really want to be able to drive them around. If i don't pass i won't be able to do it again till November as thats how long the wait is at the test centre. I know I'm putting alot of pressure on myself but i just can't help it.
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
2070825 tn?1337225969 I take my driving test tomorrow and ill be 26 weeks. I'm kinda nervous and don't want to fail...maybe the instructor will take pity on me for being pregnant and pass me lol Taking the test in Arizona if anyone has any advice??

Avatar f tn Anxiety can manifest itself in certain ways, in my opinion. Yours is your fear of cancer. My original source of anxiety started with my heart, but if I thought I had something, then I had it. You name it, I must have been suffering from it...it is a hard pattern of thinking to get out of sometimes. Throughout all of this, have you had access to a therapist to talk this over? In my opinion, the best thing you can do to get over this is accept it and confront it.
Avatar f tn t you get a dashboard camera (you could probably use your smartphone if it has enough memory). Record yourself driving. When you feel this fear, check the video and you will see that you have not hot anyone. At first, try driving for a short distance and then check the video. Then try driving a longer distance. You will be doing some self-exposure therapy and will have solid evidence that nothing bad has happened. Hang in there!
1804812 tn?1329677557 Boy, can I relate!! MANY of us can! This goes hand in hand with panic. " I am known as the "back roads" queen because I can get to just about anywhere on small streets and county roads. I always feel like I need to have a place I can pull over". Me too! LOL. I HATE highways. I explored this fear with my therapist years ago, and she explained to me that the fear stems from our basic fear of becoming "trapped" somewhere, with no option of "escape".
Avatar f tn It sounds to me as if you have allowed the fear of the idea of HIV to completely take over and although you are not only being presented with accurately negative tests and some fantastic and factual advice you still continue to fret. It seems to me that your issue has now become more psychological then physical as you most definitley do not have hiv.
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
Avatar m tn If you are dealing with anxiety, I think it would be very beneficial for you to talk things over with a therapist. Those of us with anxiety will often latch onto a fear and we are pros at blowing things out of proportion. You're gonna be OK, OK?
Avatar n tn I know it is due to the fear of driving and thinking I will pass out. I went to the doctor and he gave me medication for the axiety, but I still have the light headness while driving. I don't have this problem outside the car. However, I do get headaches on the left side of head. I am concerned since it is progessively getting worse. Unfortunately for me, I was recently laid off of my job and no longer have health insurance. Any suggestions.
Avatar m tn but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
Avatar m tn Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this? Health anxiety is quite common in this forum and can really take a toll on us unless we get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn You test and you'll put it behind you. There is nothing more that this forum or any forum can offer. It's up to you.
Avatar m tn IF A HAD THE RASH WOULD A BE IN THE PROCESS OF SEROCONVERTION OR IT WOULD HAPPEN ALL READY IN THE EVENT OF ACTUALY BEEN INFECTED? CAN ANXIETY CAUSE THIS TYPE OF RASH?
Avatar m tn An angiograph of vessels can be done with a cathode or CT scan. There shouldn't be any fear to have a cath angioplasty. There is medication that will reduce any and all anxiety...the patient experiences nothing of any concern and almost always recovers within a day or so with no side effects. With cath, the cardiologist can do a stent implant during the procedure. With a CT scan, there is a possibility of stent implant cath procedure subsequently.
Avatar f tn It not just driving any more it's being alone, always need someone to be with me...Feeling sad for no reason..heart racing, pain in left arm and shoulders tension and the list goes on..just want to feel better!!
