You should not eat before. Only drink water. You are supposed to take the test while fasting.

I failed the 1st test. I was fasting. Passed the 3 hr test.. Fasting as well.

This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. You fast for 15 hours for the 3 hour glucose test (12hours before the test and 3 during).... But you are encouraged to drink water. I don't think a 15 hour food fast would be bad for baby, since so many women do it for the test, but your baby needs you to drink fluids.

I was told not to eat after 12am and wasn't even allowed water! Over here they changed it to where you have the 2 hr one right away and if u fail you don't retake it. I brought my cousin with me to keep me company since she just took hers like 2 months before me and at the same place. I was dying of thirst so she made me drink some water and said she didn't have to fast at all. Anyway I passed my test but found out in anemic ;( sorry it was so long Lol!

Yes indeed you would need to know if this was a fasting glucose test. But either way I would think it border line.

First, any prandial test (fasting and after meal) captures glucose only at test time, not yesterday, two days ago, or a three weeks ago. That's crazy that so many women on here said their drs said not to fast. I've seen 4 different obgyns and all sais for the glucose test is a fasting test. Maybe that's why I see so many women on here saying they failed their test? I've never heard of not fasting for this test tho crazy!
