Avatar m tn I developed tremors in hands and jaw, over a period of 6 months saw a movement disorder specialist had a DAT scan and an MRI both were normal, but. I wonder if I was tested too early, and wonder if Parkinson's will develop at a later time. I just can't get the thought of Parkinson's out of my head.
Avatar n tn Hello. The first possibility that needs to be considered is Parkinson's disease. She may also get hand tremors. Let me know if you observe any hand tremors. Parkinson's disease is a disorder of the basal ganglia, situated deep in the brain. The basal ganglia are concerned with smooth movements of the body. A dysfunction in the basal ganglia, as seen in Parkinson's disease, leads to the tremors. Does she have any other symptoms?
Avatar f tn Hi Cessy and welcome to our little MS community, Diagnosis Parkinson's in a someone in their 30's would generally be classed as early onset Parkinson's and because of the rarity of Parkinson's for that age group, misdiagnoses would definitely be a possibility. I've actually read statistics that put the misdiagnosis rate as high as 1 in 5 in general for Parkinson's.
Avatar m tn I went to see a N/S this past week and he said he thinks my problem may be that I have Parkinson's disease. He said my symptoms don't seem to be chiari related. He put me on medicine for Parkinson's. Has anyone else been told they had Parkinson's ? Now I have to go see a neurologist next month.Boy I tell it gets better all the time. I'm getting tired of seeing doctors. This will be number 4.
Avatar f tn I am really scared.I need to know what my chances are when it comes to Parkinson's Disease. My grandmother's sister had it and my Rheumy found a tremor in my upper body that is more severe on my right side. I also have muscle spasms in my legs. I have had pins and needles sensations in my hands and other symptoms, however since my mother told me this information about Parkinson's, I have become really anxious about the whole thing. Can someone please help??
273955 tn?1196448802 Last year it was suggested that I have MS due to 4 lesions in my brain and a couple on my spinal cord. I have been on Betaseron for this. I have had leg numbness and tingling since last year. Evey now and then I will get other symptoms such as hand tingling, swallowing issues, pain, anxiety, etc. I am also on low dose Zoloft for the anxiety. This past week I have noticed slight trembling in my hands and some muscle twitches in my legs. Is this MS or do I have Parkinson's Disease.
Avatar f tn Any suggestions on holistic approach to Tx. Parkinson's Disease? What are some MJFox's alleviating PD method?
Avatar f tn Head trauma can cause and exacerbate Parkinson's disease. You do not have to hit your head on an object (steering wheel, windshield) to injure the brain. Even at moderate rates of speed, traumatic brain injuries can and do occur. Three separate processes work to injure the brain: bruising (bleeding), tearing, and swelling. Parkinson's may be suspected in patients with the following symptoms: Slowness and difficulty of movement.
Avatar f tn As a long-term user of clonazepam I was curious about this, and did a quick web search. Found no information whatsoever indicating it causes Parkinson's, but there is information that people who take it get or have Parkinson's -- but this list from the FDA pretty much indicates a ton of meds are taken by people who get Parkinson's.
Avatar f tn I suffer from anxiety and depression. My husband has Parkinson's. How can I handle his choices of driving or doing dangerous work? I can't control all his actions. He is an extremely stubborn person. To what degree am I responsible for what he chooses to do? With my health, I can't go on with this overwhelming feeling of responsibility to control his choices!! Thanks for listening and your encouraging advice and understanding.
Avatar m tn https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11970808 is someone's habit learning ability affected by parkinson's disease? I think the comment in this link is saying that it was affected initially but they were still able to learn habits despite having Parkinson's; is that right?
9745005 tn?1410044366 that's weird, Karen. I think I would be wary of the Parkinson's drug. You would think that you'd have a "suspected Parkinson's" dx before starting the drug rather than a functional dx. It doesn't add up. Good luck with everything. Do you ever have any relief from your sx or are they constant? That, too, might be a clue.
Avatar f tn Yeah I went to a Parkinson's walk this morning..
410281 tn?1254229064 Does anyone really know anything about Parkinson's? The meds they put me on for my sleep disorders are parkinson's drugs. It's made me do a lot of research and, quite frankly, get a little bit scared. Stiff, sore, sleep disorders, twitching, jerking.....Not sure if I'm overreacting (as I usually do), but I'm sure nervous. Just wondered what y'all knew! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've had many Parkinson's Disease symptoms lately such as tremors, loss of concentration, light-headedness, feeling unbalanced when I'm standing up, and slowed movements. I'm barely turning into a teen soon and am scared to tell my parents. I don't know for sure if I do have Parkinson's because I haven't gone to the doctor about it or talked about it with my family. I would really appreciate any advice and help with this matter. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I've had Parkinson's for almost 20 years. I am 64 years old. All of a sudden I started to lose weight rapidly. In the past year I've lost over 60 lbs. and I was 180 lbs. Why am I losing a lot of weight so fast with Parkinson's?. I've had tests and everything else checks out good. I drink a lot of protein drinks and try to eat a lot but I keep losing weight . What to do ?

Avatar m tn Hello, I'm am 29 years old, and i seem to be going through something wierd in my life, it all started with twitch in my middle finger, it soon progressed into a slight tremor in my left hand, i noticed it when I was drinking a beer.
Avatar n tn I really hate to say this, but those are early signs of Parkinson's Disease. I have listed the "checklist" of early warning signs below. I hope this is not the case, but the earlier it is diagnosed the better, When a reader of my blog asked about the early warning signs of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), I was caught off guard. I know what full-blown PD looks like, but I’d forgotten what PD might look like before it may even be diagnosed.
Avatar n tn HI: I work in Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I just read your question. Your symptoms are highly suggestive of Parkinson's and not of medication side effects. The two meds you mentioned are used to help reduce the tremors associated with Parkinson's, Essential tremor, and Dystonia. It would be advisable for you to seek a neurological evaluation.
Avatar n tn Is it possible that I have Parkinson's all these years? No never been tested..
Avatar m tn I am 58 years old and, after almost 5+ years of symptoms, I am still working with my neurologist to see if what I have is Parkinson's or Parkinson's Plus. Although my sense of smell was pretty much non-existent starting about 7 or so years ago and I was experiencing killer fatigue and some slight coordination problems, I did not develop a resting tremor until about 3 years ago. Gait problems followed.
Avatar m tn My 80 year old mother has started this almost constant "chewing" type jaw movements. Does this have anything to do with Parkinson's? She was at a neurologist today for pain in both of her hands and diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel and he noticed a constant twitching in her left thumb. He did some other neurological testing and said she might have the beginnings of Parkinson's. i didn't think to tell him of this jaw movement.
Avatar m tn My dad now 72 has what I think might be RBD or something, last night he kept hitting my mom in his sleep, sometimes he would talk and shout in his sleep, it's not always, like every night. It's quite scary when it happens..... A few years ago he fell out of bed and broke his finger. I read something online about people with RBD matching similar symptoms end up developing Parkinson's and dementia in later life? Can blood pressure medication cause this?
