Avatar f tn I tested positive to HCV antibodies but further testing with PCR RNA Quantative testing was negative. I live in Canada and wonder if it will be a problem down the road with travel insurance or joining an extended health plan. Anyone have any experiences with this, Canadian or American? Thank you.
Avatar m tn anyone out thre familiar with canadian health care? i am looking looking into the future as i am now on my 33rd day of possible exposure. i am eligible for canadian health care and would like to know if HIV/AIDS Haart meds are covered by them.
Avatar m tn Hello, Wondering if anyone has ever received a positive result back from the non-specific IGG EIA test in Canada, through Public Health? I've read a few testimonials in which people claim that they have had positive swabs, but negative blood tests from Public Health. Leads me to question the accuracy of the test, or weather or not it works at all. Thanks.
572651 tn?1530999357 I encourage Americans to be skeptical of what their politicians claim about health care in Canada, particularly those politicians who are opposed to health care reform. They usually get it wrong. I have familly members who have had hip and knee replacements who did not wait nearly as long as those timeframes you mention, Kyle, though I appreciate some patients probably do.
Avatar m tn If i go to a community health center, will it be free?. The only reason i dont want to see a doctor, is money issues.
7801868 tn?1395885718 Is there much difference between the way ultrasounds and appointments work in canada, usa, and europe? I live in canada but i see a lot of posts about only having two or three ultrasounds throughout the whole pregnancy.. I have had one appointment and ultrasound at least every 4 weeks till 28 weeks, then every two weeks until 35 weeks (im 33 weeks atm) then every week. Just curious on how other peoples experiences are going. I wish i could see my baby everyday!!
Avatar f tn s a given as we all have health insurance as per the Canada Health Act. Supplemental insurance for most prescription meds, eye care, dental care is another matter and covered by supplemental health plans. I have that too. Other interesting questions would include how much do each of us pay for premiums, how much are our co-pays. I'm curious about how much $$$ is spent in total one year on my health care including physician visits, radiology, ER visits, etc.
Avatar f tn still looking for possible IL28B testing and any of the latest in Canada, Has anyone filed in Ontario for transfusion compensat claim, just wondering about questions and procedure of the health long term care Hep C assist program.
Avatar f tn My hubby needs to see a specialist in Canada regarding this issue. Does anyone have any names of docs in Canada who deal with AD. We were vacationing in Australia, both got bit by jellyfish. I had AD for 3 months and it went away. He still has it after 2 years. He was healthy, young 35 yr old with no health issues. It's crazy, I could make a movie out of our experience. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I'm just curious if there is anyone from Canada that has been accepted for Triple Therapy Treatment? I'm in British Columbia and I have to meet the treatment critieria before the Canadian government will fund treatment for me. So, the one thing holding me back is that I have to meet the enzyme criteria of having to have 3 lab tests of enzymes that are 1.5 times higher than normal. The problem is that most of my enzymes are in the normal range.
Avatar m tn The care and management of ones own health and body lay under the domain and within responsibility of the individual. This is a right provided by and guaranteed by the Charter of Rights in Canada. Health Canada wishes to bypass the Charter of Rights and instead play 'god' with my health. I for one, do not nor will not grant Health Canada the opportunity to preempt my life choices. C 51 is Bad policy, unneccessary Government and bad health. Agree Disagree.
Avatar m tn OK so yesterday i got bitten by a stray cat. My health anxiety kicks in and i freaked out thinking im gonna die from Rabies. So i went to ER they cleaned the wound and gave me a shot and also antibiotics and told me that i can get a rabies shot if i want to. So i decided to be on the safe side and take the rabies shot although the cat seemed to be friendly and seemed to belong to someone. Now back to Rabies.
Avatar f tn The only option I can think of is assistance through the drug company but I was wondering if any fellow Canucks knew of how long the wait is for a typical review under a provincial health plan? I called our plan here but could not even get a time frame for the process. Thanks very much!

1689583 tn?1387752394 Incivek has been approved by Health Canada for people with compensated liver disease (some level of damage to the liver, but the liver still functions). __________________________________________________________- "Vertex has initiated the process to make INCIVEK accessible to people in Canada through private health insurers and through the provincial and federal drug plans in Canada.
Avatar n tn I am also from Canada. We have universal health care - health care available to all who require it. You need to go to your family doctor and have him/her refer you to a mental health specialist. I'm wondering - are you a Canadian citizen with a valid health card? If not, I'm not sure of the procedure.
Avatar n tn Our product INSTI is a rapid in-vitro qualitative test for the detection of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1/2. However our current license from Health Canada is for only HIV-1 and that is the reason the product inserts you saw at the clinics in Ontario mention only HIV-1. Our application for HIV-2 is pending with Health Canada and we are hopeful that very soon INSTI will be licensed in Canada for HIV-2 also like it is many countries including Europe.
338416 tn?1420045702 If you want to move to Canada because it is a great place that is good. If you want to move there for the health care Canada as well as all countries with socialized medicine make it hard for people with chronic illnesses to get work visas. I would move for better health care in a heart beat, that is what Canada is afraid of. Even if I had to pay for it it would be cheaper than what I have to pay now.
Avatar f tn im always reading about how people cant afford health care on here and i was confused for a little while until i realized that in the US there is no free health care like there is here.. that must really suck, i couldnt imagine having to bring a baby into the world without having health care. kudos you who do it tho!
