My question: If she does not have Alzheimer's disease, why would he prescribe either of these medicines for her? If this is dimentia, aren't there other drugs out there for that or even drugs that have a claming effect? From what I have read about excelon, I am not sure if it is compatible with her heart medication.
That actually sounds pretty decent. It's important that the damage is minimal around the portal vein. You can actually google phrases and get good explainations of the bvarious terms from medical dictionaries online. Did they give you a 2 number score, like 0/1 or 1/2, something like that? The first number gives inflammation and the second rates for fibrosis (scarring).. Most use a scale of 0 (no damage) to 4 (worst damage).
My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
can i combine 225mg. of effexor xr with exelon or dexamphetamine to help my sedated or lethargic condition?

I recently was reading several posts regarding biopsy findings, including such terms as "portal to portal bridging" etc. I was trying to find some decent sites on the web that might have a good description of the liver, along with diagrams. Then when I read biopsy findings, I should be able to "picture" what they mean.
I found a couple sites, but they were either so highly technical medically that I lost interest in 20 seconds, or the pictures were poor, etc.
Get treatment. Sooner the better. If you don't damage will continue to occur. Put it this way, the longer you wait the more damage your liver has to recover from if treatment is successful. Do it while you are younger and stronger and presumably healthier than you might be years down the line. Who knows what happens tomorrow.

Took me 2 years to go from grade 1 to grade 3.
She has since tested negative for H Pylori, and has been taken off Razadyne(24 mg ) for memory problems, put on Exelon (6mg patch), then taken off it after two weeks and more nausea. She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about.
Still puzzling and frustrating. doctors are stumped (still) and I am feeling worthless because I cannot help her kick the nausea or find the cause.
Really looking for help here. Any will be gratefully accepted.

My father ages 65 has been diagonised with alcholic liver cirrhosis, frank ascites, portal vein 7mm and enlarged spleen. He has had approx 10 litres of fluid in his enlarged stomach and swollen feet.
Fluid from the feet has gone away but stomach is still enlarged.
His reports two weeks back mentioned:
Total bilirubin : 2.1 (1.2 normal) mg dl
Direct bilirubin: 1.8 (0.6 normal)

If it was a physical, this is now done usually on the internet on a web portal run by the practice. hello and how are all of you today? I have just found out that I have portal hypertention. I had hernia surgery 3 wks ago and my dr says ( she shuddered when she said this) I don't want to go back inside you because your vessels are so HUGE. She also said for me not to strain or even become constipated cuz I could rupture one and could maybe hemorrhage to death..... I am so scared. Is there anyone in the group that has gone thru this and maybe can give me some good news?
When there is increased pressure in the portal vein, it causes a backflow of blood and in places where the portal and systemic veins anastomosis is there they engorge or swell up. The sites where this happens is the lower end of esophagus, around the umbilicus and in the rectum. Thia back flow also causes the enlargement of spleen. So, an effect of portal hypertension are the varices and splenomegaly.
