Avatar m tn Etanercept Study Group. Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. ***@**** BACKGROUND/AIMS: Current therapies for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) do not achieve sustained viral clearance in most patients, and are associated with severe toxic effects. Our aim was to investigate the efficacy and safety of etanercept as adjuvant to interferon and ribavirin in treatment-naive patients with HCV.
Avatar n tn Can a perispinal etanercept injection help heal severe pain linked to the piriformous muscle?
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if peri spinal etanercept works ? I have had four back surgeries since 2000. The last two were for decompression of the L-4, L-5 and S-1 nerve roots. My third surgery was performed in January 2011 and the last one in July 2012. I am still having pain around my right hip, left calf , left ankle and left foot. MRI and CT Myloegram do not show anything. Help !
382218 tn?1341181487 An easy drive from New Castle / Christiana is the Brandywine River Museum... if you like Andrew Wyeth or any of the Wyeth family art, it is an absolute must see. The area is generally considered the home to Andrew Wyeth and there are even tours where you can see much of the landscape and even buildings (like Kuerners farm) that he painted. And the museum itself is like going to a retreat to relax, its one of my favorite places in PA (but I also have half a dozen Wyeth prints in my home).
163305 tn?1333668571 s manufacturer, Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories. Indeed, the company gave him a role as an author of its informational video Osteoporosis: A Preventable Tragedy. By the mid-1990s, when Wyeth got caught in a patent battle over Premarin, Lindsay was a staunch Wyeth ally. He came out against approval of a generic version of the drug that would have cut into sales even though the generic form would have made it easier for osteoporosis patients to receive therapy.
Avatar f tn Pretty disgusting, if you ask me. You can read all about it on the ASPCA sight. They were instrumental in getting some of the Wyeth (the makers) suppliers shut down. Wyeth was actually sued.
Avatar f tn Well now I know better, and I am willing to join a class action suit against Wyeth for this horrible, supposedly non-addictive drug, coming off it is worse than heroin! Anyone interested? How do we get started?
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Avatar f tn You may want to contact the pharmaceutical company that makes Inderal and inquire if they offer such a program. I believe that Inderal is made by Wyeth and I believe that Wyeth is owned by Pfizer. I am including a link to the Wyeth Patient Assistance Program Website, on the website there is a 1-800 number that you can call to find out if Inderal is one of the medications that is included in the program: http://www.wyeth.com/contact?
238417 tn?1203707410 It was Wyeth HCV 796 a polymerase inhibitor. 20 weeks into the study 2 participants had high liver enzymes (800-900) so they stopped the study. This was a phase 2 and about 200 people were in the study. The 2 participants enzymes returned to "normal". Wyeth has given no indication if it was the result of the drug or a fluke.
Avatar n tn That myth has now been disproved, in fact when you take the pill with a 7 day break it is not really a period but withdrawal bleeding. In the USA it goes by names such as Lybrel (made by Wyeth). If you are outside the USA then you can Google it to find what name it might go by in your country. This type of regime is commonly used to circumvent headaches.migraines, and other period based problems in women, as it stops hormonal fluctuations from occurring. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I lost my insurance for a couple of years and my doctor found out that Wyeth labs (the makers of Effexor) has a program to help people who don't have insurance. I got my meds for free for about 2 years until I got insurance again. Ask around. You may not have to go without.
196469 tn?1365387975 Oh, dear...I can imagine how you feel. I suppose, as Kimchi said, that there are a few kinks here and there. It's funny, too, because when I saw this thread popping back here AGAIN since in January the doctor was reporting an excerpt from a very long and detailed petition/response, etc, to the Wyeth pharm. co, (complete articles can be found on the FDA's homepage, just look for the links) that was then printed in the paper and surfaced here, and I thought..hmmm...
Avatar f tn I agree with Serge144. I also had many side effects & awful withdraw symptoms. If I forgot a dose or was late taking a dose while I was on it, I was ill, felt very sick within maybe 3-4 hours of the missed dose. Google Effexor side effects & symptoms. Look for forums like this, not like Wikipedia that just give you facts. Read info that real people who have used it/been on it. See what they have to say.
Avatar m tn Psychiatrists from all over the world have coined the catch phrase "Side-Effexor" aka Effexor because of the MANY deleterious side effects of this drug. It's up near the top of the drug chain, but then again, look who you're wheeling and dealing with; Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Any idea how much their total networth is? And then there is the political wheeling and dealing.....I mean, come on people. We are poisoning our bodies with this synthetic crapola. Enough already.
Avatar f tn Desvenlafaxine succinate, marketed under the name Pristiq, is an antidepressant of the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor class from Wyeth (the makers of Effexor). It is a metabolite of venlafaxine (Effexor). It is said to have less side effects than Effexor and better absorbed according to my doctor, but clinical trials and any reserach I have done do not state that. It seems that they are prety much the same.
Avatar f tn Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.
Avatar f tn Some say, including my psychiatrist, that Pristiq is just a way for Wyeth to make more money when their Patent runs out on Effexor ER. I don't know though...I liked it.
Avatar m tn That is why Altana, the German company who developed Protonix made Wyeth set aside monies to cover such reactions before they sold the patent to Wyeth. The drs who "poisoned" my Mother tried to change the med records to say her pancreatitis was caused by alcholism. She wasn't a drinker and autopsy proved that.It has been a long and very expensive situation for me.The drs who treated her lawered up and the drs haven't had to appear in court one time.
Avatar m tn Reactivation occurred in 9 (5%) cases, including 1 patient who died due to liver failure. In summary, anti-TNF agents caused significant liver damage in HBsAg-positive patients, including elevated alanine transferaminase (ALT) levels in 42% (indicating liver cell injury or death), reappearance of HBV-DNA in 39%, and death from liver failure in 5%. The rate of reactivation in people with resolved HBV infections was 7-fold lower than in HBsAg-positive patients.
