Hi Dalki, Yes, in time your doctor will likely know for sure which type of diabetes you have. In addition to Type 1 and Type 2, there seems to be a type 1.5 ... tho' there's some thought that 1.5s are just in the early stages of Type 1. We DMers (folks with diabetes mellitis) and our docs often call that a honeymoon phase. I hope you're feeling better now that your bloodsugar has begun to come down. Says because I have Clusters of AutoImmune Diseases I most likly have type 1 diabetes. This week He has run lost of test, blood, and heart tests and blood flow. I have been diagnosed with genital herpes type 1 but i'm confused as to what this means. There isn't a very clear idea given on any of the health sites i'm tried and I was too distraught to ask the nurses at the clinic i first went to. How does type one differ from type two? I was recently diagnosed with CIDP in my left calf. I have been having electrical shocks in my left calf now for about a year and a half. After this diagnosis I was told to continue with my Gabapentin {3x a day @300mg} but I was also told that a possible Botox shot in the surface area of my left calf might also end this pain. Can anyone tell me what possible effects the Botox shot might have on me such as adverse reactions etc.

s necessarly have to be type 2 ? How common is it that your type 1 when told your type two? The first year metforim helped my numbers and now I am on metformin 2X500mg twice a day and then added two 5mg twice a day of PMS-glyburide and now two weeks ago added APO-pioglitazone 45mg once a day. Neuro dr tested me a while back. Even took spinal fluid ( that hurt!) but said my only issue is type 1. But I'm terrified I got type 2 now. I should get IGG results tomorrow. Hi, type 2 is more common in the gential area but certainly type 1 can be tramsmitted there from oral sex. However type 2 is much more sever and painful. Its important to find out which you have and how were you diagnosed?

My question is do you think it is more likely that I got genital herpes from her oral type 1 herpes via the unprotected oral sex vs. from the protected vaginal sex (in which case she would have to have genital herpes herself and also be shedding at the time)? My understanding is that it is a fairly low risk of contracting genital herpes if wearing a condom and there is no outbreak. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.

In my experience (as a 40+ year type 1), endos with an understanding of type 1 adults (those of us with complications, for example) are rare. I have found 2, one who was part of a large endo group and chose to focus on type 1, and my current endo who IS a type 1. The understanding and advice I recieve is unquestionably much better from such a doctor, even compared to those who have had many more years experience. It is worth the effort to search for one.
