BACKGROUND/AIMS: Current therapies for patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) do not achieve sustained viral clearance in most patients, and are associated with severe toxic effects. Can a perispinal etanercept injection help heal severe pain linked to the piriformous muscle?
Can anyone tell me if peri spinal etanercept works ? I have had four back surgeries since 2000. The last two were for decompression of the L-4, L-5 and S-1 nerve roots. My third surgery was performed in January 2011 and the last one in July 2012. I am still having pain around my right hip, left calf , left ankle and left foot. MRI and CT Myloegram do not show anything. Help !
The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.
Im 53 and never had asthma in my life.however ive developed a very mucousy nose and a productive cough with white and yellow mucous.i get very short of breath with exertion .im not sleeping well and wake quite a few times a night and I wheeze when im lay down .I have alsi had two seperate incidents of not being able ti breathe while lying in bed.ive also found out im allergic to many things such as textiles, nickle , ppd and many of the medications ive been put onfor coronary artery ddisease.
Hi, I'm 17 and have been playing the cornett(almost the same as trumpet) for about 9-10 years, and a few years ago I took one of those tests where you breath into some kind of mouthpiece for as long as you can to check if I had asthma. My doctor said I didn't have astham, but since the test basically was doing the same as my hobby I think it might be a stupid way to check.
I have pretty bad asthma, and it gets worse when I'm pregnant. They won't induce you because of a attack, they will try to give you treatments to keep it under control. Try to keep as cool as you can. I know it's hard to do and to keep it u details control at this point. The end is near! Keep that in mind!
My last pregnacy I was induced on due date only because I was on prednisone a few times and had gestational diabetes. They were worried about him getting to big.
Anything that increases overall health will help asthma - exercise (once you get the exercise asthma under control - may involve taking a puff or two of ventolin before you start), eating healthy - limiting sugar, caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods and increasing vegetables, fruits, lean meat, healthy fats and whole grains. Staying hydrated with water is also very important for asthmatics.
Identifying and eliminating your triggers are important - you said exercise or laughing/sneezing.
My pulmonologist said I might have some "underlying asthma" but didn't say for sure. Does anyone know what this might mean. I forgot to ask him. Stupid, I know. THanks.
Does anyone have problem with asthma and it getting worse during pregnancy? And other then using an inhaler how did you deal with it? I'm 10 weeks with my third child and having a terrible time breathing never had this happen with my other two pregnancies.

I went to the ER the other night and found out that my asthma (which had been clear for a few years) came back thanks to an infection i got from someone used to work with. We cant afford to get the inhaler i was prescribed. When i have an attack, it takes me a few minutes to be able catch my breath and that is usually when i start to feel like i am about to pass out.
Me I have severe asthma and am wondering if I can still take my inhalors and solution with my home machine? The pharmacist said no, but my ARNP said yes, just make sure I tell the OB.
It seems like when I started taking my children to school on a daily basis, that is when I started having asthma flare ups. I had one in October of last year,had to be admitted to hospital for 4 days. I was recently admitted to the hospital in March for 6 days. The last time I had to be admitted I was a child. I just got a nebulizer. The inhalers that I am on are Ventolin and Flovent. Last night, I started coughing a bit. This morning I was wheezing and coughing.
