Of course, I am starting to second guess everything (typical start of my tww) Does anyone know if this could raise my estrogen TOO much, thus hurting my chances for pregnancy? I have posted a picture of the graph of my hormone levels when they did the full panel and I put the numbers in a journal to correspond with it! I know that the acupuncturist and OB thought my levels were low, but now I am worried that if I raise the estrogen too much, if it will prevent a pregnancy!

You might want to message Quix about your post to be sure you get a response from her as she hasn't been able to spend a lot of time with us lately. It makes sense that estrogen suppressess the immune system to some extent as estrogen levels remain high during pregnancy when a woman's immune system needs to be suppressed so her own system doesn't attack the 'intruder' fetus. I'm not sure exactly what your concern is with patch use if you have MS.

I have been using the tablets since early 2013. However, after stopping the patch, I used a different form which got my estrogen level up. I then switched to the tablets which do a good job of maintaining my level. It is hard to say if you are getting too much or too little since symptoms can be similar. However, I have read that the patch does a poor job of "filling up" the estrogen tank so to speak. So if your level is low, it may be impossible to get enough with the patch.

my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.

I have been told that it can be taken while breast feeding but it is too early in mu pregnancy to be looking in to it

Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...

My recovery went well, except that my stomach muscles were sore (I had an open bikini cut), but now my incision no longer hurts. My concern is that I have been placed on the estrogen patch since one week after the surgery. I started having headaches, pains under my arms, and my feet started swelling more than usual. The doctor asked me to cut the patch in half, still changing it twice a week.

Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days. wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy.

I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.

or I needed to change the patch more regularly. One of my doctors was having me experiment with less estrogen and a Huge (my opinion) amount of Progesterone. I needed to pull WAY back on the progesterone to where I am practically not ever using it... and, just change the patch on a regular basis. I also use a small amount of Testosterone (so that blood levels average out to about 40 or 42). Estrogen can play a big part in muscle/joint pain.

Hi, I had a complete hysterectomy and have been on an estrogen patch ( vivelle dot) for ten years. I have had migraines for 30 yrs. I’m really struggling because changing the patch every three days triggers a migraine like clock work. At 12 hrs the pain begins and builds so by 24 hrs it’s debilitating. Pain meds are not an option that frequently obviously. Would it help to overlap the tone I put one on and take the old one off. Clearly the rise and fall of estrogen is the trigger.

So, I am 13dpo today. I took off the estrogen patch yesterday. I had a VERY restless night sleeping last night (woke at 2 and couldn't fall back asleep until after 4 - very unusual)....I could list a ton of 'symptoms' but none of them matter because they can all be explained by the increased estrogen due to the patch! So, I can only wait to see if my dreams come true this month of not! But the hardest part is that I feel so alone and sad right now (this came on pretty suddenly....)!

ONe more thing....3 days after transfer my blood work showed that I needed more progesterone and estrogen..so I upped the progesterone and I have an estrogen patch on...I'm guessing that this would have still been about a day before implantation but I'm still worried!

They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.

I think estrogen is high during pregnancy too but WAY WAY higher than what you get from an estrogen patch. My doctor feels the same as yours. I talk to him at every appointment since it is scary to me but he always tells me that it is such a low dose and that I will do just fine. Maybe it is case sensitive. My borderline was stage l. There was just one with no implants or invasion and my pelvic washings were all negative. I will be talking to him again in March about all of this.

I recently took fertility drugs (Follistim,Menopur,Lupron) during March 5-13. My RE stopped meds due to low estrogen(33). Since then I have new RE she wants to detox my system of the meds which fine with me. I should of already had my monthly cycle. On April 3rd she put me on Provera 20mg for 10 days and I still have no period she did blood test on April 21st Estrogen(73) Progest(9) she told me to wait 10 days to see if I have period if not take pregnancy test.

Are the headaches the main reason that you are feeling icky? I haven't had a period in 15 years, however, I can tell you that migraine headaches are effected by fluctuations in hormones. I went to a neurologist that only specialized in headaches a few years ago, because I was having them almost daily. I cut the caffeine out of my diet and made a few other dietary changes, which really helped. Also, I was put on a higher dose of the beta blocker I was taking.

Hi! I have low estrogen and normal FSH (I'm 38, though). My course of action is to wear an estrogen patch from 3 days after ovulation to 12 days after ovulation (since that's when mine is dropping off). I have heard of (and tried it once, but didn't like how I felt) that the patch can also be worn during CD8-12 to help with low estrogen. My acupuncturist told me that the patch is the most similar to actual estrogen (versus pills) so I pushed for that!

At 3dpt my estrogen was 308, prog over 20, and beta 4.3. I started vivelle patch and estrogen tabs, also needed an HCG booster 1/2cc. Today, I'm 6dpt and my bloodwork results were estrogen 1623, prog over 20, and HCG 86. I know my HCG is high because of the booster but does anyone have any idea how much it would have increased? Of course I'm anxious and trying making myself crazy trying to figure out if I could be pregnant or not.
