Avatar f tn Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. If you are too concerned it will be best to discuss it with your gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
7677085 tn?1395374075 I didn't bleed at all on the shot @MrsAliciaWeat, but I did gain about sixty pounds the six months I was on it. @kelleyrenee, does the patch have estrogen? I'm interested but I can't use an estrogen based birth control while nursing. When women say their birth control dried them up it's typically due to the estrogen, so my midwife doesn't ever offer estrogen options to her patients that breastfeed.

778044 tn?1299542934 I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.

Avatar f tn Hello, All your symptoms are the side effects of the birth control ortho evra patch. The Ortho Evra birth control patch releases a high amount of estrogen into the bloodstream—60% more than from birth control pills—which is known to increase the risk for blood clots. These blood clots occlude the blood vessels as thrombi and if they get dislodged and occlude the blood vessels at some other site, they are called emboli.
Avatar f tn But there are medicines that can interfere with some kinds of birth control. Let’s talk details, why these meds mess with birth control, and what alternatives women taking these meds have. Antibiotics Most antibiotics do not make the pill, patch, or ring less effective—that includes antibiotics commonly prescribed for acne (doxycycline, tetracycline), a sore throat (ampicillin), a urinary tract infection (ciprofloxacin), or a vaginal infection (metronidazole).
Avatar n tn My recovery went well, except that my stomach muscles were sore (I had an open bikini cut), but now my incision no longer hurts. My concern is that I have been placed on the estrogen patch since one week after the surgery. I started having headaches, pains under my arms, and my feet started swelling more than usual. The doctor asked me to cut the patch in half, still changing it twice a week.
Avatar f tn Hi, my daughter was put on birth control to regulate her periods and for her acne, which was really bad. She was 17 at the time. She was put on the regular pill that everyone starts off with I believe, ortho something or other. Worked great on regulating her periods AND her acne. The nausea started shortly thereafter and the vomiting....................

Avatar f tn Hey ladies, i've been putting thought into what Birth Control method I want to use after baby gets here. Ive heard a lot of different suggestions, but i'd like to read some personel experiences? Much thanks.
Avatar f tn I have some info on my profile about breastfeeding as a form of birth control. It's in my 'journals'. My midwife told me that estrogen free birth control is the safest while nursing. Estrogen can dry up your milk and if it doesn't, might cause issues with baby. Estrogen free versions include the paragaurd iud, the depo shot, and the 'mini pill' (progesterone only daily pill). I'd definitely decide what you want to do before baby comes!
Avatar f tn Dear Amy good question personally I am in favor of estrogen replacement , especially at your age.
1067212 tn?1353960402 I'm looking into a new birth control, me and my boyfriend currently use condoms but I'm just looking into alternatives. I can't go on the pill because when I was on it before I kept forgetting to take it so it was never effective. I'd like something that lasts but I don't have to worry about everyday. I'm worried about side effects such as frequent periods. I had a friend who was on some form of birth control, and for a year her periods would last 3 weeks.
Avatar f tn Have any of you ladies thought of birth control after delivery.?? I want to try a new birth control but that will actually work..I've tried the pill, the patch, and the shot but neither worked. What are some good birth controls.??

14089185 tn?1439417585 As a frequent birth control changer, I have seen some pros and cons to most types. I have tried the shot, the patch, the pill and I'm currently on the arm implant. Each had pluses. If you are looking for a birth control where you will have a period every month, take the pill or patch. If you are looking for something that you don't have to worry about every day/week, there's the shot.
