Avatar f tn Norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol – Significantly impacted severity and duration of migraines, but provides no protection against other PMS symptoms and cause me to be a rageful, emotionally insane person for 3 days.
Avatar n tn Hi, I’ve recently gotten on a birth control pill called “ Norethindrone Acetate and Ethinyl Estradiol 1mg/0.02 mg” What I’ve recently discovered is after taking the three weeks of pills I’m supposed to take a week off of the pills and then start the new pack. Needless to say, I was unaware that I was supposed to be taking this week off between packs. I’ve been taking this birth control for almost 4 months without these week breaks between packs. Is this something I should worry about?
Avatar f tn I am wondering if its the ingredients in the yasmin that could be doing it besides the progestin and estrogen? Where you taking it continuously with the yasmin 21 or the 28 day? MARVELON21 contains the below ingredients Each white, round tablet contains desogestrel 0.15 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.03 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, lactose, polyethylene glycol, povidone, starch, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide and vitamin E.
Avatar f tn I was taking 5 mg of norethindrone (aygestin) for endometriosis. The bleeding stopped almost entirely. Now I've lost my insurance, and my OB won't see self-pay patients. I tried appling for the"planning for healthy families" thing our state does to help provide birth control to low income families, but they won't give me this medication as it isn't an actual birth control.
Avatar f tn s Health Initiative showed that combined HRT as Prempro (conjugated estrogen plus progestin formulation medroxyprogesterone acetate) increased the risk of breast cancer. Estrogen taken without a progestin (Premarin) did not increase risk of breast cancer. But you are correct that a progestin or progesterone needs to be taken with estrogen to protect the uterine lining from proliferation and risk of hyperplasia or cancer.
Avatar n tn I'm on CD 88. Took Provera and did not have bleeding or spotting within 10 days after. Did blood work and it showed FSH: 6, LH: 1, TSH: 2.54. I did temping and OPKs and I'm pretty sure I did not ovulate. Before that I was on BCP (0.035 ethinyl estradiol & 0.25 norgestimate) and had very regular periods. What next? Clomid to stimulate ovulation? Clomid followed by estrogen? BCP to reset the cycle?
1353681 tn?1387083733 Started norethindrone recently; it is not estrogen, but rather a form of progestin... but is also partially used as birth control and for endometriosis.. It is a chalky pill, and I let it sit in my mouth to get it just right so it doesn't hit my throat.. but I notice it dissolves most of the way in my mouth before I swallow.. is it ok to just dissolve it for a couple mins in water before taking it.. I'd assume it is the same thing as it dissolving in my mouth.. ?
Avatar f tn Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and my OB/GYN wants to see how my hormones are doing. The hormones he wants to check are prolactin, cortisol and testosterone and my GP has also ordered estradiol as she suspects that checking cortison will not be possible (it has to be done in a hospital and this is unavailable atm due to COVID-19). I will have a blood test next Tuesday, coincidentally during my placebo week (and probably my first day of period).

Avatar f tn Has your doctor ever checked your blood level of estrogen or estradiol? Some women do better on the estrogen patch or one of the gels. And some find that they need some testosterone to function. I also use estradiol tablets but I insert mine vaginally and it seems to absorb better that way. I only need to do it 3x a week at this point.
Avatar n tn I'm currently on birth control pills (Ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) and i'm overweight so i'm planning on taking Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen. Will Hydroxycut affect the effectiveness of my bcp?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been on treatment for PCOS for a year and a half now with Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol birth control pills. My OB/GYN asked for a blood test in order to see how my hormones are doing. While I am content that my testosterone levels are within normal range (it was very high at the moment of diagnosis and I was suffering from many uncomfortable effects) my prolactin levels are 38.25. I understand that this is high but, is it very high? should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn My side effect of taking the other remedy was weight gain. I gained 9 kg and now my weight is stuck at one point and is not decreasing. Does anyone have a similar problem?
172411 tn?1287086265 It will put a body in instant menopause and then to help with the side-effects of going into menopause doctor will order a tiny amount of norethindrone and estrogen. (My doctor says it is the equivalent of torture not offer add-back with lupron.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-21091-656/drospirenone-ethinyl-estradiol-oral/ethinyl-estradiol-drospirenone-24-4-oral/details Please do not experiment with birth control. The chances of pregnancy from this event remain extremely low, for all of the reasons I mentioned in my first post. There is not a lot I can add to that, nor can anyone give you hard numbers.
314833 tn?1263259499 Ok, so my insurance would not pay for the lupron so the doc gave me norethindrone acetate... The endro pain seems to be doing better, but I am getting these breath taking cramps on a daily bases...I thought it was something that would go away...now im not so sure...they get really bad to the point where I hold my breath till the pain is gone....or grab on to something......I don't know if its the scare tissue from surgery or what.....
Avatar m tn m significantly confused about how estrogen affects Endometriosis, hoping for clarity. I see a lot out there that the estrogen and progestin pill significantly improves endometriosis and prevents it from continuing to grow. I also see a lot out there that says estrogen dominance contributes to Endo. So which is it? Does estrogen make it worse or better? Trying to figure out if I should avoid putting extra estrogen in my body if that will make things worse.

Avatar f tn So do your research and decide what you feel is best for YOU since you have to live with the consequences. And the studies show that estrogen (without a progestin) does not increase risk of breast cancer. Of course, if you have had ER+ BC then you may not be able to take estrogen. Sometimes, we have to find medical providers who are willing to do their homework and partner with us.
