Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply. I am due for labs in 30 days but was curious about the connection. At my last appointment, I asked my doc to lower progesterone from 200 to 150 (I take it in a pill with estradiol). After three weeks, I am now noticing my face clearing up so much mre and starting to feel like maybe my armour could even be lowered a tad. One thing to note, I also began taking it in split doese and sublingually in the past 10 days.
Avatar f tn I'm 44 and have had very sporadic periods for a couple of years. My last period was last July. I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago and my doctor has confirmed perimenopause. My fsh was 58 and my estradiol was 223. He said that explained why I had had any "normal" menopause symptoms and said it means I don't need to consider hrt yet. Having Googled it seems unusual for estradiol levels to still be so high. Does anyone know what it might mean?
Avatar f tn I am 46 years old I am having so much trouble with hrt estrogen estradiol . My side effects are as follows severe tinnitus, phelgm in my lungs and coughing, high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol, positive ANA test boderline lupus numbers, high hscrp test, pains behind my eyes, breathing pain issues, low grade fever, forehead pain, stuffy nose like allergies...all of this has been since I started hrt which was right after my surgery.
Avatar f tn I have had the pellet implants for 6 years. Don't give up. They are the best thing I've ever used for HRT. Any form of estrogen can cause bloating. It should even out in time. Ask your doctor for Spironolactone. It's a mild diuretic that also helps the testosterone in your body. I know many women on pellets that use it, myself included. What dosage of estrogen and testosterone did you get? What were your lab numbers? Hang in there!
Avatar n tn My estrogen level is 1140 which has me very concerned why it is this high. I do take estradiol 2 mg, but from what i have researched with HRT it should not be higher than 340. Does this mean it could be caused from ovarian cancer or are my labs just out of whack because of estradiol dose being too high??
1321741 tn?1304530624 I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 28 and immediately began HRT. I'm now 59 and still using HRT. My mother is 82 and is still using HRT. I think how long you take the meds is between you and your doctor and the risk factors you may or may not have.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Hello: I was wondering if anyone else that is one HRT is having issues with tinnitus? Thank you.
Avatar f tn After taking HRT for a year to alleviate a range of crazy menopause issues , my eyes started playing tricks on me ( migraine auras without pain and blind spots lasting an hour or so) Doctor took me off HRT as she thought I was increased stroke risk. I have been off HRT for 6 months and the insomnia ,heart palps and auras are off the chain again. I am 51 and started perimenopause around 35. Is there anyone out there with the same sort of symtons and any tips to cope with this....
Avatar n tn I was able to find an HRT therapy that is working well for me. I use oral estradiol (.5 mg - I used to use Vivelle Dot .05, but my body stopped absorbing it, so I changed to the oral type) and a compounded bioidentical progesterone cream (1 mg. dose, although I use less, made at a compounding pharmacy) that I rub on to my wrist or upper arm or stomach (I move it around so my skin doesn't build up resistence to it). I have hormone testing annually to make sure my balances are right.
Avatar n tn I am post menopausal and started taking combined continuous hrt in October for osteoporosis as I can’t take any of the meds for it. I spotted for one day at the end of November. Nothing since. I am 67 and post menopausal since 52. I saw my gynecologist and she wants me to get an ultrasound. I really don’t want to as 8 months ago I had one and it was read wrong and said I had a thickened endometrium.

1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, just a question about HRT.............. anyone out there on it, and does it affect your MS drugs, and did it help?? I was prescribed Climara .05 in a patch once a week, and I'm scared to try it. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried these drugs and what was your take on them. Any feedback would be appreciated.... Thxs..
Avatar f tn I recently began HRT for my hot flashes and extreme sweats. they also affect my sleep. I have been taking them a week and see no relief. How long do they take to relieve symptoms??
Avatar m tn I am 48 and in menopause. I believe it is complete (or almost) as I have gone almost a year w/o a period and my hormone levels are low. I had an IUD (Mirena) removed a year and 8 months ago. Went several months with no period then had a short period at about 8 months and then had something between spotting and a period but only for 2 days and since have only had a little spotting after sex.
Avatar f tn The tenderness could very well be a result of the change in the hormone levels in your body. Keep in mind that HRT has been proven to increase the chance of Breast Cancer. If absolutely necessary these drugs should be used at the lowest dose possible and for the shortest time possible. Regards .....
Avatar m tn I have been on HRT replacement-ESTRADIOL for 26 years, living life without them is impossible. For six months a couple of years ago I tried all the black cohash and different things on the internet, none of it worked to stop the (hot flashes, night sweats, dry skin, vaginal atrophy, vaginal dryness, not being able to have sex, hair loss, depression, moodiness, crying all the time and over all feeling like crap.
Avatar f tn Hi, Please let me know if you're still reading this thread. I have some thoughts on this but the problem I have it I start writing and I don't seem to know how to stop writing... :) I end up posting the same information over and over and so if you don't mind checking my profile and finding my "posts" section, you could start reading some of the appropriate posts starting with the most recent ones (at least since 2008).
Avatar f tn Im thinking you need a combo hrt ..no estrogene at all? your adernal gland should be trickling a bit of that but most comes from ovaries which no longer exist. see a new obgyn or theres a farily new help called Nurse practioner specilising in menopause and hrt...since thats all they do they really know there stuff, rapid heart rate only when on meds? if it happens other times Id advise a cardiologist,. would not hurt to see one anyways for a simple ekg.
Avatar m tn I was put on Estradiol 1 mg. did well for one year. Then started getting severe hot flashes and facial hair growth, wasn't sleeping well either. So, I took it upon myself to stop the Estradiol. Oh my goodness, what a huge mistake! I lost HUGE amount of my hair, went to hospital twice because of labored breathing, nearly everywhere I touched my arms Id have bloody bruising, sleep was only dozing, that list could goes on. So then, I went to bio-identical hormones.
659607 tn?1247116266 Hi Candy, Well I have a few thoughts, it sounds great about the HRT it takes somewomen a lot of tweaking to get it right..What do you mean about the use in your arm and hand being back....loosing that is never related to a hysterectomy..How much does your weight jump up and down are we talking 5 lbs or more,.? Im really going to advise you to visit your gyn ASAP...the bloating may be related to prior hyster,,if it is your doc will know...
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar n tn Thanks, this was helpful. I'm 69 years old and started on HRT at 48 and have been taking Prempro for most of those 21 years, and still on it. Whenever I've tried to stop I dnn't feel right -- aches and pains -- more tired than usual. 2 year ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so now on Armor Thyroid as well, but still get very exhausted by the end of the work week. My gynocologist and endocrinologist seem to think all this is fine.
