Avatar n tn When I've gone on an aldosterone blocker the water weight all goes away. So, now with a new endo out here who is waiting for my test results for that. The itching, it's been bad lately but my new endo took me off all thyroid meds to see where my body would balance out. My friend the doctor says it is a hystamine release from the thyroid because it is trying to function on it's own and properly This may be what's happening to you????? The weight it water weight or fat weight?
Avatar f tn This makes a direct correlation between meds and side effects difficult for me. Recently I went back on Estradiol to see if that helped the acne (too recent to tell). Since I feel so good and they are not painful or do they itch, my understanding is that I am not allergic to the Lamictal. This is bad.... any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been on a couple of rounds of clomid and estradiol (take the estradiol between cycles of clomid to prevent my lining from getting too thin, which seems to be working fine). I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that their skin has become very oily? Yes, this is superficial, but I feel like a nasty, oily beast and am getting really awful cystic acne on my chin, which I know is a "hormonal breakout area," and am at my dermatologist weekly for cortizone injections.
Avatar f tn But TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by many variables, to the point that it is inadequate as the primary diagnostic for thyroid. For example, the TSH can sometimes be misleadingly low if there are pituitary problems. Just focusing on thyroid, with her symptoms and her FT4 being so low in the range, I suggest that you get her tested for Free T3 also. FT3 is the most active thyroid hormone. FT3 largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.

Avatar f tn I'm a 16 year old girl, and I've been getting one or two acne pimples around my mouth lately, and now I have two just on my lipline (but not at all touching my lip) that will not go away!! They're relatively small, like a zit, not huge and pussing or whatever. They're pretty dried out, but I think it's because of the insane amount of spot treatment and stuff I've been applying trying to get rid of them.. They freak me out, because I'm sooo scared they're a coldsore.
20278375 tn?1494090735 Second is that the ranges for FT4 and FT3 are far too broad to be functional for everybody, due to the erroneous assumptions used to establish them. FT4 and FT3 results in the lower part of their range should be suspect as indicating hypothyroidism. In June, 2015 your TSH was above range, so a FT4 test was done, and it was barely within range, and no FT3 test was done, so nothing was done for you. In Dec.
10880850 tn?1413514085 Also, since hypo patients are frequently too low in the range for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, if tested for those, please post also. I am very sure we can give you some help. There is lots of experience and knowledge among members of the Forum. I'll give you my opinion about your med/dosage after seeing your Free T3 and Free T4 results.
401095 tn?1351395370 A friend of mine was told to begin DHEA 25 mg daily for energy....I have always taken smaller doses off and for anti-aging benefits as the production of DHEA declines with age...I was thinking about adding it to my ton of pills on a daily basis...
Avatar n tn I went off bc in June of 2010 and as soon as I got off bc, I got a regular 7 day period and have not gotten a period since. My Dr. is putting me on Estradiol 2mg for 35 days and on the 25th day she's having me add Prometrium 400mg for 10 days. I have already tried Prometrium 200mg for 10 days and that didn't induce a period.
Avatar f tn This makes a direct correlation between meds and side effects difficult for me. Recently I went back on Estradiol to see if that helped the acne (too recent to tell). Since I feel so good and they are not painful nor do they itch or burn, my understanding is that I am not allergic to the Lamictal. This does not look like the Lamictal rash pictures I checked out online...not puffy and sort of spread out. This is bad.... any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I had my thyroid removed for thyroid cancer in 2003 and just recently had my ovaries removed (age 46). I am having terrible symptoms - mostly sleeplessness and agitation, acne etc. I am bio identical HRT cream (estradiol and prog). My free t4 cam back at 1.8 even though my tsh was only .7 (my doc does not supress my tsh due to symptoms). So my question is how can your t4 be high but your tsh still be normal?
Avatar f tn Hi, You can apply for Comedonal acne tretinoin 0.025% cream or adapalene 0.1% gel or tazarotene 0.1% gel; alpha hydroxyl acid preparation. If you are having inflammatory acne then tetracycline or doxycycline or minocycline; benzoyl peroxide 5% gel; azelaic acid 20% cream; clindamycin 1% lotion or cream; erythromycin 2% gel or cream. If you are having recalcitrant acne in women then probably oral contraceptive containing norgestimate 0.25 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.
Avatar f tn I was on a triphasic pill for years (Tri Sprintec). It was good for keeping acne under control (which is why I originally went on it at age 20). But in the last few years I began suffering from extreme fatigue, lots of water retention, vaginal dryness, etc, and as all my tests were normal my PCP suggested the pill was causing it. I went off the pill completely 4 months ago and about 2 months after started experiencing extremely oily skin and massive hair shedding, among other things.
Avatar n tn I don't know what forum to post this under but, I am pretty sure I have a hormonal imbalance. Hair loss, ringing in ears, no sex drive, etc. I had my progesterone, testosterone, and estradiol tested. Like every other time the doc. says they are normal. I don't think they are, Testosterone- 61 (limit 14-76) Progesterone - 0.
Avatar f tn Diane or Cyproterone - ethinyl estradiol is usually indicated primarily for treating certain types of acne as well as for birth control for some. However, it is recommended that back up method of contraception or non-hormonal method of birth control is considered while taking this medication. To determine if conception was present, you may need to check with serum HCG test at this time which is more accurate than the urine tests. Take care and do keep us posted.
1749731 tn?1362100113 I also feel like I'm finally getting all my hormones lined up right because the severe acne I've been dealing with for the past year is really clearing up A LOT!!! It's all in God's hands now and I know he will send us our precious miracle at exactly the right time.
136956 tn?1425609872 is yasmin okay to be on if you have endo? it would cause it to grow faster?
1344197 tn?1392822771 17-beta estradiol, the most biologically active; estrone, a derivative of estradiol and the second most dominant estrogen; and estriol, a very short-acting estrogen and the least biologically active. The first misconception is that US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated drugs are not bioidentical. This is wrong. A long list of FDA-approved hormone products contain 17-beta estradiol and, therefore, are bioidentical.
Avatar n tn Hi, YAZ® or drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol is indicated for pregnancy prevention in women who elect to use an oral contraceptive as their birth control option. YAZ is also indicated for the treatment of symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorderand moderate acne vulgaris in women at least 14 years of age.
1251708 tn?1277584040 cyproterone and ethinyl estradiol. This medication is taken in 28-day cycles consisting of 1 tablet daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day interval without medication. The time when you don’t have this medication, you will have your periods. You can stop taking this drug once you have had your periods and do not continue it. There may be some symptoms due to hormonal imbalance but will shortly wean away.
Avatar f tn Hello, Estradiol is a form of estrogen. Estrace is used to treat symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, and vaginal dryness, burning, and irritation. It increases your risk of developing endometrial hyperplasia, a condition that may lead to cancer of the uterus. Taking progestins while using Estrace may lower this risk.
Avatar n tn In the past I had always taken triphasic pills like ortho tri cyclen or ortho novum 777 so yasmin was a change for me. I stopped taking yasmin a few weeks ago (when I completed my last pack) but since then i've been getting a dry white clumpy discharge with no itching and no odor. As a precaution, i've also taken a weekly dose of diflucan for the last 2 weeks. Is this discharge normal? Or could it be another form of yeast infection w/o the itching?
Avatar f tn Depending upon the details of your history, such as your weight, physical conditioning, other symptoms such as acne or excess hair growth, I might add other tests such as LH, estradiol, testosterone, etc. The first test to do always, is a pregnancy test, but it sounds unlikely that that is your problem. In most cases the problem can be sorted out and the chances that you can have children in the future are very good.
Avatar m tn You need to get your hormone levels checked from a gynecologist and if they are low then you may need to take hormonal treatment or oral contraceptives for some time till the hormone levels come back to normal. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I HAVE to be on these for control of endometriosis (I'm 34 and NOT ready for a hysterectomy/oophorectomy yet!!). I asked for the OTC Lo because it seems to have the least amount of side effects. However, I still have monthly acne breakouts and I just don't FEEL as alert and upbeat as my personality would usually have me. A couple years ago, I was on the Ortho-Evra patch. After a warning from the FDA about high hormone levels with the patch, my doctor pulled me off it.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor again two months ago, and he had my FSH, LH, estradiol, and progesterone levels tested. Everything was normal. I had all the tests done again last month (including thyroid), and everything was still normal. My doctor put me on birth control (Tri-Sprintec) this month in hopes that my symptoms would level out. It helped for about two weeks, but now everything's acting up again. Is it possible that my ovaries are shutting down even though my blood work came back normal?
Avatar f tn nothing ) I was also diagnosed with PCOS when I was 21 and took ethiynl estradiol and cyproterone acetate ( ginnette 35) for two years. I started getting really bad PMS because of that but because I know it kept my acne in check, i continued to take it but reduced my dose to half. I still take it. The first lesion happened when I had become careless with the timing and regularity of the pill and I attributed it to hormonal imbalance.
1344197 tn?1392822771 These compounding pharmacies obtain the bioidentical or natural hormones, Estradiol, Progesterone, and Testosterone in USP raw powder from for the SAME suppliers the drug companies do. They use different amounts of each but the hormones are the same. Many formulations are based on Saliva testing to “individualize” hormone therapy. It is well documented that hormone levels in saliva vary widely and do not correlate well with blood levels.
