Avatar f tn I started taking over-the-counter Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium 20mg/capsule) a few days ago and may be taking them for at least the next 2 weeks. My blood magnesium levels were low a few weeks ago and they just got back to normal right before I started taking the Nexium. I've been taking Naxium in the evening (4-5pm) at least an hour before having dinner.

Avatar f tn Ive has pacs/pvcs for over a year! All tests have came back completely normal. Had 2 echoes and several ecg's. My blood work was normal. My magnesium was 1.9, which I know is in the normal range. But, I have read alot about magnesium benefiting people with heart palpitations. So my question is, do you think 1.9 is on the low end and would I benefit from taking magnesium supplements?
Avatar m tn You need a form that ends in -ate (eg. magnesium orotate, magnesium citrate) not magnesium oxide, which is hard to absorb and gives most people tummy upset. You start on 400mg a day adn keep increasing the dose till you have maximum symptoms relief, up to a maximum of 900mg a day, don't go over that. Magnesium deficieny can also cause heart arrhythmia. I cannot guess from what you've described if your heart thing could be arrhythmia.

Avatar n tn Esomeprazole (nexium) and all other proton pump inhibitor have a black box warning - hypomagnesemia (magnesium deficiency). Symptoms of magnesium deficiency are many but include constipation, palpitations and fatigue. Not all hot nodules produce symptoms but your nodule may be the cause of palpitations and fatigue. If a hot nodule causes hyperthyroidism, it can be treated with anti thyroid drugs, radioactive iodine, or surgery.
Avatar f tn As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Macrobid is nitrofurantoin, not clarithromycin. You may also look here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Nexium-2792078.
Avatar f tn One of the known side effects of Nexium (Esomeprazole Magnesium) is jerking muscle movements so i'd say if he isn't experiencing a side effect of the Nexium, because he's stressed and experiencing weird dreams it's probably just normal sleep induced myoclonic muscle twitches as he's going in and out of the sleep fazes. "Sleep myoclonus occurs during the initial phases of sleep, especially at the moment of dropping off to sleep.
Avatar m tn p. suggested trying (Nexium) - Esomeprazole 20mg instead, with the instruction that if there was a temporary flare up, - double the dose. After several months this infrequent chest pain, accompanied by bloating, sore stomach and not too much reflux has become very intrusive and the pain worse, often improved by some food! Could the Nexium be too powerful after time and be a trouble maker? has anyone experience, please? I have had "Pylori" test, endoscopy etc.
Avatar n tn I have 10 year throat problem: in the first couple years, I just intermittently felt something/tickle in the area just below the throat (upper trachea), I didn't pay much attention; then in the last couple years, the feeling/tickle just below the throat was getting strong (but sometimes tickle/feeling still gone), and sometimes I had cough caused by saliva at night times.
Avatar f tn although the prefixes in pantoprozole(protonix) and esomeprazole magnesium (nexium) are different, its the suffixes that you need to look at. They are the main make-up of these drugs.

Avatar n tn My girlfriend had her thyriod removed about a year ago and had all sorts of problems with her calcium and the bodies ability to take up the calcium from the tablets and they had to give her another smaller tablet (says the calcium tablets 8 four times a day where like horse tablets) to help the absorption in the end she was able to bring her tablets down to two 4 times a day with the help of this other tablet. I can ask her for you if you wish.
Avatar n tn I've never heard of a connection. Magnesium in much much higher doses is used to treat migraines and arrhythmias. In some countries if you go to the ER with an arrhythmia problem a magnesium chloride IV drip is one of the first treatment options. Mag comes in many forms, sterate...glycinate...chloride...turate...oxcide... It's just different ways to keep the mag stable. I take glycinate 500mg when my heart is acting up and it helps me. But, everyone is different.
Avatar n tn 25 mcg) one tablet every 4 hours, i.e 6 tablets in 24 hours. To avoid Gemcal interferring with Tab. Thyronorm, we were advised to give a gap of 2 hours before and 4 hours after taking Thyronorm. So we end up with having 18 hours to take 6 Gemcal tablets. My question is : 1-Could there be a problem if there is a 3 hour gap between a single Gemcal tablet i.e 1 tablet every 3 hours? 2- What is the minimum gap that has to be respected between Gemcal?
Avatar m tn You should also be taking magnesium, this is very important as magnesium is depleted by Vitamin D. Also, you most likely have low magnesium to start with, unless you eat lots of green leafy veggies like Kale, magnesium will be low. Low magnesium will give you anxiety and when combined with low Vitamin D levels, it can be even more extreme. You should also have your thyroid checked out, as low thyroid hormones can also cause your symptoms.
Avatar m tn The doctor put me on Omeprazole for 21 days and after that the symptoms came back and they put me in for Esomeprazole (Nexium) for another 21 days. After the Nexium I still have the symptoms nausea and hyperacidity though I haven't had heartburn since then, just the feeling of tightness on my chest sometimes. My question is has anyone survived GERD without relying on medication?
