709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.

Avatar f tn I've taken either omeprazole or propranolol for gas and prevention of variceal bleeding due to portal hypertension on and off for the last couple of years with no ill effects. I had not taken the omeprazole for awhile but when I started treatment with sovaldi and olysio I started taking it again because I was having a huge problem with gas and pressure. It helps me enormously.
Avatar m tn He checked my larynx and said I had inflammation due to GERD. He told me to make some diet changes and to take Esomeprazole 40mg every day. After three months he told me to continue for a year. Close to a year, friends were concerned I was on it fir too long and I called the ENT and he took me off it. After stopping it I have suffered of the most horrible heartburn and excessive burping. It’s been three weeks and it’s not as bad, but the problem still going on.
Avatar m tn Please do consume plenty of warm water, avoid smoking (if any), alcohol (if any), spicy foods, coffee and tea for few days. Try proton pump inhibitors (such as Omeprazole/Esomeprazole). Any more doubts you are welcome.
Avatar f tn So I have GERD and regularly take PPIs (one 20 mg pill per day, I rotate between Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, and Lansoprazole because they seem to lose effectiveness after a while if I just stay on the same one indefinitely) but for the past several days I've had excessive gas and heartburn. I've stopped eating all spicy foods as a result but it so far hasn't helped. Is it safe to double my PPI dosage for a week or two to see if that helps me alleviate this issue?
Avatar m tn Try taking proton pump inhibitors (such as Omeprazole/Esomeprazole) for the first condition, drink plenty of warm water, avoid coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and alcohol for few days. If you feel the symptoms are relieving please do consult an ENT specialist.

STD related issues are scaring, so I thought I would better do that swabs and get it out of my head. I just order for swabs for STDs at a lab or are there any specific test? And if I certainly negative for the abovementioned std tests, does it confirm that they are not the culprits behind my sore throat?
1806721 tn?1554333407 s stop production of the acids, when u stop taking the meds, it flips the on switch and many times our system makes too much all at once and we feel the same as we did b4....this is y it is very important to slowly step off these meds and know u may have some GERD until ur body adjusts. Taking antibiotics will also affect ur GERD issues and a probiotic is a good idea, ur Dr should be able to guide u as to which one and what dose is best for u.

757597 tn?1315801812 The profound hypochlorhydria induced by proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may impair the gastrointestinal absorption of nonheme iron, a process that is dependent on an acidic environment. The interaction was suspected in two patients with iron deficiency anemia due to gastrointestinal blood loss that were unresponsive to oral iron replacement therapy, even after the bleeding had apparently stopped. Both patients had been on omeprazole for six months while being treated with ferrous sulfate.

Avatar f tn Can I take esomeprazole, diazepam, antihistamine( Given by doc to help sleep ). Green tea capsules, cranberry pills, multivitamins and kanna together please? And on days I don't take my diazepam can i take valerian instead with these other supplements? Please advise. Thanks.
Avatar n tn ve done a lot of experimenting with different reflux meds to see if they change anything but no luck. Esomeprazole, pantaprozole, ranitidine (before it got recalled and cancelled oops lol), and just about every over-the-counter one I could try. Esomeprazole works best and none of the others do anything for the burping.
Avatar f tn However if multiple drugs are to be given then drugs like amphotericin B, amphotericin B lipid complex, diazepam, esomeprazole and omeprazole should not be given through the same I/V cannula. The side effects of Tygacil are similar to tetracyclines and include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Other common side effects are those related to administration of injection like pain at injection site, swelling and irritation; increased or decreased heart rate and infections.
Avatar n tn I had first Taxol 9 days ago. Had funny, random feeling in abdomen during infusion, but no pain. Along with extreme leg pain 3rd night after inf I developed sharp, shooting pains across my lower abdomen, hip-bone to hip bone, and stinging, painful "spasms" near my tailbone/anus. Next day Loritabs resolved most of the pain and was tolerable w/out pain meds by day 6, but made me constipated again. I'm still somewhat bloated and don't feel quite right.
Avatar m tn omeprazole OTC (20mg) by itself, sucralfate by itself, and currently on a combination of sucralfate and esomeprazole (40mg); these therapies have reduced the gurgling slightly, but have far from gotten rid of it - I have tried avoiding the triggers (alcohol, seasoned food, NSAIDs) a few times and the symptoms have gone away; however, as soon as I ingested even a tiny amount of the irritating substance, the sympotoms came back with full force - I have not experienced any black or tarry stools, n
