Avatar n tn In one study, 50 women with thrombophilia (including 20 factor V Leiden heterozygotes) and recurrent pregnancy loss were treated with enoxaparin throughout 61 subsequent pregnancies. The live birth rate was 75% with enoxaparin prophylaxis, compared to 20% in prior untreated pregnancies [Brenner et al 2000].
Avatar m tn I am 27 weeks pregnancy and have dvt, start to using CLEXANE(ENOXAPARIN) I am really worried is there any harm to my baby Thanks & Rgards
Avatar n tn It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history. I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately I was told there was not a lot they could do for me as the meds that break the cloths down are way too dangerous for me to take as I will have cloths all over my damaged organs just sitting there doing their job. They have prescribed me a further 6 weeks of injections and then to go onto the tablet form for another 6 months. And to wear the stockings for at least a few years.
Avatar n tn If it's growing pain then you should go check it out, DVT can go unnoticed for a long time. It usually happens in older ages (60+) but DVT can happen in ANY age.
Avatar n tn Heparin works immediately, and the effects only last for a short time after the drug is stopped. The concern is bleeding at the catheter entry sites and in my case I waited a short time in the recovery room while the Haparin dissipated before the catheters were pulled. My doctor (EP) provided a very specific schedule of when to stop Metoprol and Rythmol and your father should also have received this information. It may be worth checking with the doctor if there is any question.
Avatar f tn So was told nothing could be done for my DVT.
Avatar f tn Sorry for your loss, I'm going to see a specialist today for blood clots and that's what my doctor wants to put me on but I'm not sure if I want to take it.
Avatar f tn Many people with dvt have no symptoms prior to PE. It would be helpful for you to know how your dvt was diagnosed and where is was located so that you have that information for future medical considerations.
Avatar f tn I am very scared I have DVT. I had a dull pain in my calf for months. It seems like the pain gets worse when I lay down and move my toes / feet up words . There is also a heavy feeling or fullness in my calfs somedays . I have endured long haul flights over Christmas and this fall that have been over 5 hours long. I know I have moved very little during These flights. I read online that can cause DVt as well. I am a 29 year old Male 6'3" and 293.5 pounds.
Avatar f tn Hello, For the past 1 1/2 months my leg has felt sore. It doesn't interrupt my day to day activities but its noticeable. There is no swelling, redness, or warmth. It seems to occur along my whole leg and is not constant or consistent. I am wondering what DVTs felt like for anyone who might have had them? How long can a DVT be there without being noticed? A bit of background on me. I am a 23 year old female, on birth-control, and a nonsmoker.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Dvt behind my left knee in October. Was put on Xarelto for 3 months, the day after I finished this course I was sent back into A & E, where I was diagnosed with Dvt again. I was told to stay on the Xarelto until my check up in 3 weeks. When my check up came, they admitted me into hospital and took me off Xarelto and put me on Innohep injections for another 3 months. I felt these were working great but in last week I can feel a twinge behind my knee again.
Avatar m tn Hi. I am a hypochondriac but as usual, I am afraid this is the one time my pain is actually real. I am 17 I have no history of blood clots and my leg starting hurting the morning after I had just exercised all day. I was getting back into a healthy lifestyle for about a week. My pain at first was really achey. It felt like it was kind of falling asleep all the time and I couldn't sleep. Nothing really helped. Sometimes it went away on its own for a few hours but it came back at night.

Avatar n tn Deep vessel thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot. Apparently, the doctor believes the presence of edema suggests DVT otherwise coumadin would not be prescribed. Coumadin helps prevent clots. For some insight the lower extremity DVT is much more likely to cause pulmonary embolism (lung clots) and that is very serious medical condition.
Avatar f tn Dvt means deep venous thrombosis- when a blood clot forms in the deep veins of your extremity and it is treated with a blood thinner. The affected extremity becomes swollen painful and red.
Avatar f tn The only way of preventing this is asprin or warfrin. I got dvt 5 years ago and the clot traveled to my lungs and heart and I was in hospital for 2week.( and I was Lucky) The clot never goes away the vain just reroutes It's self. But It's the long term ur friend has to look at. And I would get a second and third opinion. Dvt is a very serious condition as in the UK more people die of dvt then cancer. Also I would just Google for more info as the is plenty of sites out there.
Avatar m tn Need advice...my husband has had a dvt in his leg below knee for three months. Last week he hit his shin at work and now leg is really swollen and purple especially on the heel. he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Avatar m tn Is it possible for a DVT to have resulted from this, to remain dormant for a number of years (9-11 years in my case), and then break up to cause recent PE?
Avatar m tn Hi, im a 25 year old South African male who recently had unprotected receptive intercourse with another male. My doctor at the time felt I was at risk so decided to put me on a prophylaxis for 4 weeks (commencing about 58 hours after the exposure). This was in January. After the prophylaxis ended, I tested negative at the end of February (rapid test).
Avatar f tn Prior to taking any supplements, it is best that you discuss this with your attending physician for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosis with dvt in november of 2011 and now I'm 27 weeks pregnant...I want to have a vbac but my doctor said its a 40% chance of going into labor on my own.
