Emtricitabine was approved for use by people 18 years old or older,but has not yet been approved for use in younger people. Emtricitabine has not been approved for people with HIV who are also infected with hepatitis B. Some people with HIV had their hepatitis B get worse after they stopped taking emtricitabine. People who have HIV that is resistant to the drug 3TC (Epivir) will almost certainly be resistant to emtricitabine as well. People with kidney problems should lower the dose.

Abstract
Goals: To study the long-term outcome after cessation of antiviral therapy in immune-tolerant patients.
Personally I am not aware of any studies that use Truvada on HBV patients, as it is FDA approved for HIV only.

Most chronic hepatitis B patients treated with tenofovir (Viread) for 8 years continued to maintain viral suppression, researchers reported at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) Liver Meeting last week in Boston.
I was also a reciever. After 40 hours I went to the first clinic and they gave me PEP (TenofovirDF, emtricitabine + lamivudine). The clinic looks very unprofessional, but it was my only chance. I didn't do any hiv or std test, a month before the exposure i had HIV test which was negative. After few days I had a mild sore throat, i still have it, i don't have fever, running nose, rash or anything else. My questions are..
What are my chances of getting infected. Another question was administered a PEP drug emtricitabine and tenofovir, can it prevent me from contracting HiV.
t had hepatitis B and you are not vaccinated or immune to it, i would make vaccine for hbv since your liver has already had an hepatitis in your life so even if the damage from hepatitis A is recovered complitely in 6-12 months it is better to avoid any chance of other hepatitis
you don't have hepatitis C and never had it, since this hepatitis is spread only through blood and there is no vaccine or life immunity after you clear it you just need to be careful with usual ways to get infected
The exposure you describe was low, or perhaps no, risk for hepatitis B. for starters, if you are here in the U.S. hepatitis B is a rare infection- there are fewer new cases of hepatitis B each year than there are new cases of HIV. Second, it is statistically unlikely that your partner had infectious hepatitis B.
