Has anyone taken Zofran and what are some of your side effects? My morning sickness has been horrible...the worst ever. I am usually in bed all day and feeling like I can't do anything. My doctor initially prescribed Diclegis, but it doesn't help me. It made me sleep all day, causing me to skip meals and drinks. It also have me bad headaches. So I asked my DR to please let me try something else. At this point, I'm in tears because I can't keep anything down. Dr calls in Zofran.

I would highly recommend Zofran. It is used for nausea and it works WONDERS! They have other drugs likes Phenergan and Compozine, but the side effects are long and AWFUL (I know because I have taken both). I just looked at the med fact on Zofran and while it doesn't say much about breastfeeding while taking Zofran, there aren't any known problems with taking it during pregnancy.

Zofran is NOT recommended by the FRAME for use in pregnancy. There is evidence of cleft palates and heart deformation in pregnancy. Diclegis is much safer and is the ONLY anti nausea med is the class A safety rating for meds. It has been studied for 50 years with zero correlation to negative side effects in the fetus. Only downside is it makes you really sleepy. Do your research.

Every single commercial you see regarding a drug hits the rare side effects at the very end. Zofran is used in labor routinely and safely. I had to have it in both of my deliveries due to nausea and vomiting (seems I am a total wimp and that is part of my pain reaction). Listen to any drug add and they, at the very end, list a couple of things that according to the package inserts on these drugs is are very low but legally they have to mention them in order to broadcast an ad.

The risk associated with dehydration and malnutrition due to HG is far greater than the potential side effects of Zofran and Reglan. My little guy is perfectly healthy up to this point. To each their own though.

I took zofran my entire first pregnancy because I was horribly sick an the first 3 months I couldn't even get out of bed let alone eat!

There are "possible side effects" from any drug but it is classified as a safe to use in pregnancy drug in the drug guide. They wouldn't prescribe it as much as they do if there was a serious Worry. I've been taking it this whe time and all sonograms have turned up fine- and in a few weeks I expect to see a healthy perfect baby girl. If you're sick enough it's prescribed then you should take it.

I have terrible morning sickness and I was given a prescription for ondansetron 4mg which is the generic version of zofran. I'm scared to take it because of the possible side effects and the warnings I've seen on TV. I don't want to take any risks when it comes to my baby. Any thoughts on this?

I am on Zofran for HG and have been since 8 weeks (now 17). I looked up lots of info regarding safe use and the large majority of women had healthy babies. Cleft palates are also formed in first 10 weeks and can be due to diet so many doctors consider it could largely be down to HG (poor diet because of constant vomiting/nausea) rather than zofran itself.

I took zofran and didn't feel any side effects from it, but I was only taking it on an as-needed basis. It's hard to tell if those symptoms are side effects or just pregnancy lol I think it may just he normal but I'd call and ask my doctor and he/she might recommend something for it to help you out.

I was taking it at first but then my obgyn told me I needed to switch medications because of the side effects of zofran. I took promethazine it worked ask yur doctor about it. See if it's safe for you to use.

ve been taking Zofran the dissolvable tablet every morning and every evening and had only occasionally been throwing up well this morning I woke up with a horrible headache which is sadly one of the side effects of Zofran but it beats throwing up 6 times a day well now even the pill isn't helping. I have thrown up everything I've eaten today and all I've eaten is a bowl of cereal. Anyone else experience this?

Zofran is perfectly safe for use in pregnancy. Its a category B medication meaning that no studies have found that it causes harm in humans, although some animal studies may have shown slight risk.

I used zofran in both my pregnancy I used it everyday for like 6 months with my first my daughter had to holes in her heart that she still has today an she's 3 my son only had a small hole an closed around 1 year I didn't know the effects until this pregnancy an i have the extreme morning sickness there's a fancynword for it I take diclegis a few times a day an it works great

I lost around 40 pounds in the first two trimesters even with taking it but it was the only possible way of getting food in front of my mouth let alone in my mouth. Now at 30 weeks I don't throw up a lot but my nausea is horrible so I need my zofran! I've taken well over 240 pills since day one of pregnancy and my baby boy is super healthy and strong!

Im in a group on facebook coz my baby has a heart condition and a lot of the women on there have ongoing lawsuits as they believe zofran has caused their babys to have heart defects..never took it myself and no heart problems in either side of our families and my baby still had this happen to her..docs says its just unfortunately one of those things that happen...a lot in the group though truly believe its zofran that caused their babys condition though..

Never seen her before but my usual dr who i love and trust tild me maxolin is garbage and to go straight to Zofran. Confusing.

I'm so sick of seeing this. -_- zofran has side effects, EVERY PILL HAS SIDE EFFECTS. But that does not mean it will happen. Jeeze people. Do you believe everything google tells you too??

I dont take any medication during pregnancy, my sister took medication in her pregnancy, and when jayne was born she had a hole in her heart and died 3 days later, all from taking morning sickness medication!

I've never heard of that being perscribed in pregnancy, I take zofran and or phenergan ...

As far as I know its been deemed safe for pregnancy. I had to be put on a zofran pump because I was so nauseous and vomited literally all the time. It got so bad I tore my esophagus a few times, and had to be in the hospital for fluids. That pump saved my life. I'm off it now, but still take the oral zofran as I need it. All my ultrasounds have shown that baby is perfect, and I did some hefty research before going on the pump, and couldn't find anything that said it caused defects.

I did have success with Zofran in both of my pregnancies with no issues. It's so commonly used and has a good track record. If you need it, you need it. good luck dear and I hope you feel better.
