Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar f tn The primary addiction to weed is a psychological addiction, the memory of the highs you once felt smoking pot always come back and make you want to try to reach that feeling again even if it takes you more and more pot to do this as you become more resistant to its effects. The smoking goes from a pleasurable action to a habit with little real benefit just a perceived one. To compound this many pot smokers have friends who also smoke and it becomes a social thing making it more ingrained.

Avatar m tn It helps with pain for a time being and even a short amount of pain relief is worth it having Chiari. And like Selma said, it doesn't have the ill effects of narcotics. Smoking a whole cigarette gives me a massive headache though and of course smoking anything can make someone cough and with Chiari, coughing is no fun so maybe you could buy him a vaporizer.

Avatar n tn My son was smoking alot of pot everyday and he decided he wanted to be clean. He got rid of everything he had, changed his friends and went through several days, about 5, of w/d's. He's 19 years old and I'm proud to say that he's been clean for 2 months now. It wasn't easy and he said the worst part was that his legs hurt really bad and sleep was hard for a few nights. Make up your mind that you don't want this drug anymore and just do it.
Avatar n tn s nothing particularly sinister about the effect of moderate smoking (tobacco, pot, etc.) on the natural attrition rate. If you're really into killing brain cells, alcohol is where it's at. and there is no medical evidence that pot is 'bad for you' other than making you a bit lazy ... oh and hungry... mmmmm brownies.... lol oh and the only long lasting effects that i know of is memory loss... and sometimes, thats a good thing....

874521 tn?1424116797 I know that you need to meet certain criteria to be eligible and have the backing of a doctor. The only side effect of pot that I can think of is weight gain and dry mouth. But pot would have less side effects than narcotics and be less physically addicting. But that's coming from smoking it, I'm not sure about it in pill form.

3211536 tn?1359385569 "I think the reason transplant centers exclude pot smokers is because marijuana is an illegal drug. There is such a shortage of organs that I suspect that there is a desire to weed (sic) out as many candidates as they ethically can and pot is an easy exclusionary factor. " I'm in full agreement with Mikesimon. Mj has not been studied enough to know it's full effects, such as smoking, compared to edibles, tinctures, etc.
