eczema

Avatar m tn Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. A combination of treatments should be used. Along with topical steroids, you should use good quality moisturizers on the area. Immunomodulators like tacrolimus and Pimecrolimus are not without side effects and should be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.
Avatar m tn Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar m tn dandruff, eczema, and tinnitus. Each of these show signs of some underlying allergies. There are skin allergy tests, blood (RAST) tests, and elimination tests. The latter can take many many months as you eliminate foods from your diet and body products from your regimen to see if there's a reduction in symptoms - most people are patient enough to do this, but is the least expensive. Good luck!

Avatar m tn Could this possibly be eczema? It seems pretty common and the symptoms seem to match but my irritants dont look NEAR as bad as the ones I've found on the web.
Avatar f tn What is the best treatment for vaginal Eczema. I have this for years now, it comes and goes. I use Calendula gel when I have symptoms, it seems to help but not completely. Is there something that I can use that is more effective. It is very uncomfortable. Burning sensation, etc. I had a biopsy done a few years ago and results came back (SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS) which I been told is like ECZEMA. Can you please help or have any comments regarding this condition.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with eczema but the treatment does not help. I develop itchy, dry rashes mainly on the inner thighs with patches on the forehead. Eventually these rashes get dry and scaly and won't stop peeling and when they heal there is a lack of pigment in the area which lasts for months. I was recently in India and treated with medtronidazole for a parasite which cleared up the rashes for about 6 months but now it is back worse than ever. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema. Keeping the affected area moistened can promote skin healing and relief of symptoms. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Eczema is actually a fairly common condition with the number of atopic eczema (the “allergic” type often seen in people with allergies or asthma), increasing and becoming more common. The cause of this strain becoming more common may be due to an increased exposure to allergens such as house dust or environmental factors. Treatment can consist of topical Corticosteroid creams or ointments that are applied regularly.
Avatar n tn Now that we started treatment on the molluscum his eczema is terrible. I took him to a new Dermatologist to get a second opinion. She wants to treat the severe eczema first then the molluscum. She wants to treat the molluscum with the topical ointment for genital warts. I am so frusterated. My 4 year old has molluscum now also. I don't want to have to keep going on with this. My 7 year old it covered head to toe with molluscum and eczema. Can someone please help us.
Avatar m tn so sorry to hear your child has to deal with this :( It's quite painful for the children and they are too young to understand what is going on as well as too young to know to keep their hands off the rashes :( Your daughter's body has been under a lot of stress from the herpes infection on her skin. It's not unusual at all for the eczema to return and be a little more out of control than usual for her.

Avatar m tn My wife suffers from eczema and is particularly affecting her palms of hands to the point that her skin is cracking. It is extremely itchy and she has sought medical attention with a dermatologist but the medication prescribed is ineffective. Anyone have this type of condition? Any alternatives?
Avatar n tn When topical corticosteroids do not provide relief, sometimes the doctor may consider prescribing some more potent corticosteroids for some period, in adults with may be needed for adults with eczema on the scalp, limbs, and trunk or those with chronic/ lichenified eczema. Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective.
