Avatar n tn However, the appearance of eczema varies from person to person and varies according to the specific type of eczema. Sometimes, eczema may lead to blisters and oozing lesions, but eczema can also result in dry and scaly skin. Repeated scratching may lead to thickened, crusty skin. To confirm if it is still eczema, complete history and physical examination of the skin is important.
Avatar f tn My husband has had eczema for 20 years and is currently 38 years old. He has been prescribed several creams, none of which work very well. The eczema is on his lower legs and arms, is extremely itchy, large areas are raised, crusty, and often bleeding & infected due to his scratching. The doctors have suggested he have allergy testing.

Avatar f tn Syphilis sores don't appear for about 3 weeks. If it is syphilis, it's not from these most recent encounters. Taking antibiotics you don't need causes resistance, and since you have a history of eczema, it's hard for me to advise you to treat. Did you have a risk about 3 weeks prior to the sores showing? Syphilis sores can appear anywhere from 10 to 90 days, but the average is 21 days.

Avatar f tn , but all of them can be attributed to much more likely causes (pimples, facial hair stubble being itchy, etc.). I would LIKE to believe, since eczema sufferers have a sensitivity to the virus, that I would have had an outbreak by now if I was infected. I don't know that for sure, though, which is what my thread is about. As I said, before, though, your chances are really good (same as mine, probably).
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be an irritation, allergy, dermatitis, eczema or rosacea. Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease that causes facial redness. Rosacea affects mostly adults, usually people with fair skin, between the ages of 30 and 60. Left untreated, it tends to be progressive. However, in most people it is cyclic, which means it may flare up for a period of weeks to months and then signs and symptoms lessen for a while before it flares up again. Treatment may dependent on the underlying cause.

Avatar f tn In the past few weeks I have started notices tiny red spots on my skin that mildly itch. They are smaller than mosquito bites, and are appearing on all parts of my body but there aren't a large amount of them. I figured it's not bug bites since there are not clusters or a large quantity, and they don't get bigger or worse as i scratch them.
Avatar f tn My son has had warts on his legs since he was 2. He's now 9 years old. One came up on his ankle and it has spread into dozens since then on his legs and feet. We've tried over the counter stuff and that didn't work. We've went to a dermatologist even since everytime we tried something it seemed like more warts came back than he originally had. They definitely were multiplying.
Avatar f tn Well they don't itch or cause any pain. They're just dry and flaky. Lotion causes them to sting; that's the only pain I experience.
Avatar f tn The most causes for the dry patch are Eczema and Psoriasis. Eczema is one condition where the hands get cracked. In this disorder contact with triggering factors like soaps, cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, and detergents causes symptoms. Sometimes sweat, changes in temperature and psychological stress are known to trigger these episodes. Psoriasis is an auto immune disorder that can cause dry cracked hands. Genetic and immunologic theories have been predicted as causes for psoriasis.

Avatar f tn Another big thing to take out of the diet is SUGAR--all forms of it, natural and otherwise. Sugar causes inflammation. And, what is eczema other than a form of external inflammation? Thus, the other name for eczema is dermatititis. Eczema is just more severe. I suggest that you DON'T use artificial sweeteners. They cause other health issues. They don't taste good anyway. Weaning myself off of sugar gradually didn't work. I had to go cold turkey. Guess what?
Avatar m tn Hydrocortisone is not indicated for long term use on the face as it causes thinning of the skin. It is not suitable for treating rosacea because, as you have found, the initial redness comes back worse. Oral oxytetracycline may be necessary as well as topical metronidozole. La Roche-Posay make a good cleanser called Rosaliac which is good for thin, fragile skin and Rosacea. Eloise.
