Avatar n tn This sounds like eczema also. Part of the epidemic afflicting millions of Americans. Stress can play a part in it's severity. The stress causes increased levels of cortisol, which affects your immune system. Your immune system reacts irrationally to innocuous substances causing inflammation. There is no cure. Even though it's been around forever. Synthetic steroids are used to moderate the immune response.
Avatar f tn The most causes for the dry patch are Eczema and Psoriasis. Eczema is one condition where the hands get cracked. In this disorder contact with triggering factors like soaps, cosmetics, jewelry, clothing, and detergents causes symptoms. Sometimes sweat, changes in temperature and psychological stress are known to trigger these episodes. Psoriasis is an auto immune disorder that can cause dry cracked hands. Genetic and immunologic theories have been predicted as causes for psoriasis.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your care and responses!! Any idea on the causes for dyshydrotic eczema on finger I am 41 yrs with no skin problems??
Avatar f tn This was prior to getting my first eczema (in fact, I think the first trip outside of my house, other than for occasional walks for exercise, was after I got the eczema and went to the doctor). I am thoroughly convinced that stress and the fact that I was inside a lot probably did play a huge role in why I developed eczema and gut imbalances.

Avatar n tn Hello, If you are having itchy palms since childhood, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema, contact dermatitis, infection, neurodermatitis, eczema or liver or kidney causes. Avatar f tn My boyfriend has this rash type thing on his hand. It originally started out just a small dry/blotchy area on his palm and has now spread over his entire palm and onto 3 of his fingers. It is now rather red, blotchy, terribly itchy, painful, dry, blistery looking. It doesn't bleed or puss (that I know of) but he complains it hurts alot and sometimes the itching is unbearable.
Avatar n tn This may be a case of xerotic eczema or dishydrotic eczema. Dishydrotic eczema usually starts as small vesicles which contain fluid .These vesicles are covered by a tough membrane. This may be itchy. The itchiness may initiate an itch scratch cycle which may lead to excoriations and involve even normal skin. Eczema is a chronic and inflammatory process. It appears to involve the autoimmune system .Other causes may be environment and stress.
Avatar m tn lichen simplex chronicus, eczema or chemical irritation. Keeping the skin clean and dry and avoid wearing clothing that rubs and irritates the area may help. If anti fungal with hydrocortisone cream does not help, this may point to other differentials mentioned .Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar m tn it appears to be an "eczema" disease. i'v been experiencing it for 2 years and it spreaded from my middle, to the 2nd, 4th and now the 1st finger (only right hand). So the finger's skin made a cycle, where it peeled, and then it grows the newer one but its thick and theres no fingrprint in it, then it goes back to peeling and again. (But in a small area).
Avatar n tn Reason I ask is that I know that having a new baby causes much stress and major changes in routine and schedules, and sometimes results in mommy not taking as good care of herself then she is used to (possibly holding your urine longer, eating less, sleeping less, more caffeine, less water etc). Make it a habit to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and see if it changes. It could also just be stress related.
Avatar f tn I now have a patch of eczema under one eye. I tried special products, control creams, cortisone (in small amounts-I have to be careful since it is around my eye), vaseline...the list goes on. If anyone has any ideas, I'd welcome them!
