Avatar m tn In order to gain weight, you have to consume more calories (per day) than what your are burning. Thats why the calorie count on this app is really handy to help you know exactly where your up too. You can also buy a device ( so sorry I don't know what its called exactly) that you can wear around your wrist or body somewhere, & it tells you exactly how many calories you are burning & much more.
Avatar n tn what food items are to consumed to gain more weight as i am very lean for my age?
Avatar f tn Eating healthy is like the hardest thing for me to do right now. I want to devour everything and anything, how can I start and make myself eat more healthy?
Avatar f tn Hi luvencasa, I suspect you are asking for a healthy way to gain weight since according to your profile you stay pretty active and eat healthy foods (which is great!). I've never been in your position.
4377655 tn?1354246709 re healthy and eating normally, the healthiest way to gain weight is to add an additional protein meal to your diet and learn a resistance based exercise program. This will put on healthy muscle instead of just fat.
Avatar f tn I try to eat healthy snacks during the day so I can have dessert at night. Key word is try. I have a massive sweet tooth.
1963845 tn?1376030809 Your diet will be very important as far as helping you gain muscle mass. Are you eating healthy foods?
Avatar n tn This is an individual thing, as people don't react the same to foods. But in general, you always want to eat healthy meals no matter what you're trying to accomplish, To gain weight, you eat more than you're eating now, but you still eat healthy foods. You can also gain by doing resistance training and build muscle.
Avatar f tn Whether you're underweight or not depends on your height -- that helps you determine your BMI. Being thin, provided you're eating enough healthy foods to get your nutrients, is healthy. But if you're skinny, gaining weight just means eating more of the healthy foods you're hopefully eating now, such as adding a meal. You can gain muscle by doing resistance training. Do you eat enough? Do you feel you're eating a lot and still not gaining?
Avatar f tn Cardio alternated with weight training of some sort will boost your metabolism and create more muscle, burning more calories without trying. It took time to gain the weight....give yourself time to lose it in a healthy way. Good Luck!
1363862 tn?1277832722 In terms of diet, forget calories - calorie-counting is only helpful to a point. What you need to focus on to gain muscle and burn fat is getting LOADS of good-quality protein - so lots of lean meat, fish and eggs - and vegetables. You need to change your attitude to fats as well, because you need good fats in order to help move the fat out of your cells.
Avatar f tn As usual, I will suggest you don't look at the website above -- Atkins has been proven not to work and to not be healthy. There are many better options. And just to be clear, you're not on a no-carb diet -- vegetables and fruits and beans also contain carbs. I assume what you mean is you're not eating simple carbs, or I hope that's what you mean. Being too austere in your diet can be a problem, especially if you're diet is unbalanced.
Avatar f tn Trying my hardest to eat healthy. But I feel so starved so I go back to eating sweets. I can't help it. I'm 27 weeks and I weigh 126, I've gain 3 pounds since last week not a good thing. So I'm trying to get back on track buy those cravings...any advice that would help me?
Avatar f tn Don't mean to sound snarky, I really don't, but eat more. To make that extra food go to lean muscle rather than fat, do it in combination with resistance training.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies so obviously its important to watch what we eat as it can cause to much weight gain.. I'm only supposed to gain 24-25lbs and im not there yet thank god since I have 10 weeks to go but I need to get on a healthier meal plan..
Avatar f tn To gain weight you need to increase your protein intake. I suggest a high protein shake, such as body builders drink. Take it as a supplement not as a meal. This works to lose weight if one is too fat (as a meal replacement) and will cause weight gain for those that are too thin. Contrary to what some might think, weight bearing ie weight lifting, builds muscle mass and increases weight also. This does not mean you need to look like a male body builder, but it does help with weight gain.
Avatar f tn Hi guys I'm 18 weeks 5 days with my first baby. I started out at 136. By my next appointment I had gained 3 pounds (in 4 weeks). I was also having bad morning sickness and nausea so I knew I wouldn't gain much. THEN my next appointment I had gained 10 pounds!! I know that when the nausea subsided I started to eat anything I wanted lol. Bad I know. Any one else struggling with eating healthy?! Any tips would be appreciated I'm stressing out about this weight gain!
Avatar f tn Thank you I'm glad to know its not just me. I was told that it can affect how much weight I gain but that doesn't bother me I just want my baby to be OK.
Avatar f tn I had lost 4 pounds within the last 3 weeks and I do have a small baby, she looks like she will come out at 5 pounds, I need healthy fatty foods ideas to at least gain the weight back since my doctor is worried about me losing more weight and how small I am. I'm 30 weeks and 4 days long.
Avatar m tn s not healthy, but the poster only says they want to gain weight and not why or how much or whether fat or muscle and has only 20 days to do it. So if that's the goal, and I don't know why it is, then eat a lot of simple carbs and cut down on the protein. The same would go for you -- if you eat lots of lean protein, it will in the short term probably result in weight loss, not weight gain, although in the long run it won't last and it might cause health problems down the road.
Avatar f tn You might tell us what you're eating now, and what you're family members look like. People are different. It is healthier to be lighter and it's healthier to eat less, as long as what you eat supplies the proper nutrition, but if you're tired all the time and you sleep well and exercise that indicates something might be missing. Have you had a checkup with your doc?
Avatar f tn I used to think I was eating healthy, then I started to keep a food journal and realized it was not as healthy as I thought and I was eating a lot of calories, I sat with a nutrionist and went over the items in my food diary, I was not eating a balanced diet either. Too much of my diet was coming from carbs, and I was not getting enough protein. And I would take measurements as well, sometimes you dont see the loss on the scale, but will see loss with your measurements.
Avatar n tn s loaded with sugar, will just add a pro-inflammatory food that leaches magnesium out of your diet -- not the best way to go. You always want to keep eating healthy meals no matter what your goal is. Eating more sugar will certainly help you gain weight, but it will also promote disease, inflammation and rot your teeth out. Trust me, you don't want that.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Eating too much fruit can complicate the amount of fructose in your body. This in turn can lead to over-production of fat which can be harmful for your health. Foods with the highest fructose content are peaches, prunes, pears, cherries, plums, apples and apple cider, grapes and dates. These fruits are hardest to digest and can cause fructose intolerance. Excessive fructose can lead to leptin resistance, which could cause weight gain if combined with a high fat and calorie diet.
Avatar n tn Eat more of the healthy foods you already eat, assuming you're already eating a healthy diet. If you need to, add a meal. Know that being thin is very healthy, and you're not underweight really. I'm the same height as you and until I got on antidepressants I weighed 155 and nobody ever accused me of being underweight.
