Avatar n tn I have been training to walk a half marathon for the past month. I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant and the half marathon is in Dec 09. Would it be okay to continue to walk the half marathon? I believe I will be 12 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn thank you i do eat small portions now but I feel bloated all the time and breathless.. seems funny but feels like I have ran a marathon in 3 mins. And I cant go an hour without food.. suger level drops. Could that be serious. ?
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Losartan 50mg in the morning ( 2 yrs) and Atenolol 25mg (12 years) in the evening. I am a jogger and have had no problems. I'm training for a half marathon and had a extreme low blood pressure occurrence 2 days ago. Both my BP specialist and my cardiologist want me off the Atenolol. But their suggestions are quick tapering. I'm on my second day and had BP problems for about 2 hrs this morning ...BP now is 135/65 HR 53. Any Suggestions ?
Avatar f tn To all you runners, can you tell me what to serve for dinner to our kids and friends coming up this weekend for a full marathon? The dinner is the night before. And for breakfast? I think the marathon starts at 7:30 AM. I'm also wondering what magic foods I need to eat to stand on the sidelines and watch?
1406332 tn?1315962760 Interesting article on this young guy who ran a race backwards for his parents. His dad suffers from MS. He finished the half marathon in 2 hours and 42 minutes!! How awesome!! http://www.omaha.
180992 tn?1383374057 My first week results from taking the combo GSI-7985 pill I just got yesterday. I was 19,700,000 and VL was 81. I am not getting the Ribavirin. Doctor said I'm probably UND this second blood draw. Will have results soon. It's seems with or without the terrible Riba this GSI-7985 is extraordinary. I didn't hit UND until wk 12 but relapsed with SOC back in 2007.

4943237 tn?1428991095 My teenage daughter came to me the other day with a proposition that absolutely blew me away. There's a charity half marathon in Melbourne, Australia on 26 July that she would like to fly over and run in, and fundraise on behalf of MS research and our local MS Society. The age restriction for the half marathon is 16 but as she's not old enough I'll have to ring them today and see whether she can enter.
Avatar m tn Anyone have a decent answer to calf cramp? Started training for a half marathon after years of not doing much except golf. Cross trainer is fine & can get up abut 45 mins. Went for a run first time & felt like someone had shot me in the back of the leg after about 400 yds! Carried on for a bit until the other one went & had to walk back like John Wayne. Tried a few times since - a bit better with loads of stretches first & ice after but still in agony for days.
522699 tn?1250590716 I built up to it slowly and now run 5km (3 miles) in just over 30 mins a few times a week. A marathon is quite taxing on your system so you should get a check up before you start racking up too many miles. 10 miles a day sounds quite a lot, that's over 1.5hrs a day. If you run more than 5km you run the risk of more injuries so make sure you build up slowly and have rest days regularly. Every second day is good to start with. After a few weeks, try a hill or two.
Avatar n tn I am glad to say that yesterday for the first time in a week and a half, I finally had a bowel movement. It was not the quantity that I thought it was going to be for the period of time that I had been constipated, but it was a sign of relief. It was not solid either but semi-solid. Which tells me that I am not getting enough fiber in my diet. My doctor told me to lie in a bath of hot water twice daily to help with the constipation and with the hemroids.
15695260 tn?1549593113 I look for shoes where I have a little extra space in the toes (toes not near touching the front of the shoe), and some shoes are wider in the forefoot than others. A lot of people need some room for the toes to spread out a bit when they run, and for me it has been trial and error finding what works. (Error ends up with damaged toenails and other misfortunes on 20 mile plus runs).
Avatar f tn Every time I eat or drink anything I start a burp marathon for an hour or two. Even if I eat small bites and chew slowly. I'm 8.4 weeks and I'm desperate to be done with this nausea/gastro part and ready for the happy glow and energy part!! Any tips?
Avatar f tn I am a triathlete and a marathon runner. I had a detached retina approximately three weeks ago, with the buckle surgery and a 1/3 gas bubble of C3F8 gas inserted. Everything is healing nicely, no pain, slight redness nothing major, I have full field of vision back its just blurry through the gas bubble. I have been biking, not running MD said wait the full four to five weeks til I run. He said I can swim after 4 weeks. Just wondering about this gas bubble.
Avatar f tn I was training for a half marathon when I found out I was pregnant about a month ago. I gave up all training because the first few weeks I had major fatigue and cramps. Now I am feeling better and the race is Saturday. I was debating on jog/walking it. I've been reading mixed opinions on running that distance during the first trimester. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I can almost describe it like the beginning stages of a cold/fever/flu coming on, but it never does, and this feeling has lasted a month and a half. The biggest warning sign for me that something is actually physically wrong is that I have been unable to exercise or go for a run without feeling bad and having to stop. About 2 and ½ months ago I ran a half marathon at 7 and ½ minute miles and the week before I moved to Houston I ran a five mile run with a great time and felt fine after.
Avatar f tn I should be purchading a jogging stroller soon. I just ran my first half marathon last year at the O.C Marathon and this year around the same time I'll be poping a baby.
Avatar f tn The side effects are gradually getting better each week, but I HATE doing it so much. Anyway, we are going to settle for a back packing trip in the summer, which means I will have to change to the bioset as it doesn't have to be kept in the fridge. Has anyone used this and the pen who can compare? I find the pen traumatising enough (slight exaggeration), and imagine the bioset to be a lot worse!
Avatar f tn Lol thats cute.
1348086 tn?1370783185 I had checked yesterday in the afternoon because all I ate yesterday was a half of a piece a bacon, 2 bites of a biscuit (both in the morning), 2 thin slices of ham for supper. It was 86 after all of that. I ate that candy at around 5:30 this morning and checked it when I got up at 6:45 and it was 102.
Avatar m tn I read in another article that the London Marathon is checking to make sure they have adequate security for their marathon to be held on Sunday. Remember, London's subway system was targeted just after 9/11.... How tragic this is.
Avatar f tn My sister is a marathon runner and she ran marathons until the day my nephew popped out. As long as your doctor says its okay you will be fine. Just listen to what your body is telling you.
Avatar f tn I ended up having to take a trip to the er it got real bad. Come to find out it's baby girl pushing up on me. I can just be sittin down and it'll just get to the point where it feels like I just got done running a marathon. So it's gonna be a fun 3 and half months.
Avatar n tn I had a 24 hour monitor on and while wearing it ran 13 miles. (Training for a half marathon). Is this similar to what they can find on a stress test? (Without dye)? I had a stress test a few years ago without the dye and everything was normal. I ran on a treadmill but for a very short time compared to my 13 mile run. Was just curious to see if they were similar.
