Avatar m tn I take Avodart (Dutasteride) 0.5 mg tabs twice a week for the past 6 months. I lowered the dose when I developed gynecomastia (breast tissue). Avodart has a long half life. Will it still work to help my benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)? I have been taking Avodart for 5 years and it has been very helpful.
Avatar n tn It would be very helpful if we could have a look at your thyroid related test results from the time you were feeling good, and also from the time when you dosage was reduced. You also need to know your test results from Aug. It is a good idea to always get a copy of blood test results and write on there how you were feeling at the time, and your med and supplement dosages. Those reports are a very useful history for future reference.
Avatar f tn My dog Koke has severe hair loss, he was given a urine test and blood test, and he was given antibiotics. He still has hair loss and am scared to take him out on sunny days because of sun burn. Is it old age? He also has arthritis, but I give him doggy asprin. Thank you.

192918 tn?1199451179 So this is a very silly question - but I'm having A LOT of hair loss....to the point that I'm getting some ugly bald spots (not at all pretty on women!!) When I finally get on the right meds, will my hair grow back or will I always be stuck with bald spots/thin hair?
Avatar f tn Have noticed huge amount of hair loss. Used to have think hair, now, can see my scalp and have receding hairline. Every day, look gobs of hair. Is this normal? when will this stop? Will it ever reverse and grow back.
Avatar f tn What's your hair type?
Avatar f tn Most times the hair loss from alopecia can be fixed with the hair folicles being stimulated by cortisone cream for a few weeks. As much as I hate cortisone cream, I used it years ago after a haematoma (blow to the back of the head and blood clot) as my hair just wouldnt stop falling out. Within weeks it had grown back , it grew back short and spikey at first (fuzzy) but then grew back normal. Take Care and I hope your stress levels subside very soon for you.

Avatar m tn Hi doctor, I have been experiencing hair loss for about 7 years now. It's getting to the point where I will have to shave it all off soon. It's quite noticeable. I have no hair loss in my family at all. None on my mum or dads side. I'm the only one. I have however suffered from bad anxiety (stress) for quite some years now and wondering if this would be the main cause? Is stress making my hair fall out? I'm quite healthy and all my most recent blood tests are all fine.
Avatar m tn I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin . Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago. I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive. Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
1924131 tn?1328497570 My hair is starting to come out, before it was just a lil more than the normal hair loss when you shower or brush your hair. Now its like a half of a handfull of hair. I'm getting what seems like an almost bald spot. Im so worried bout losing my hair. What should i do?
Avatar n tn In November, my endocrinologist said it would not cause any further harm to stop synthroid for 3 months and then recheck levels to see if my hair loss stopped. Unfortunately, my TSH level skyrocketed to 91 and my cholesterol was high as well. So I went back on synthroid (100 mcg). I'm still suffering from hair loss and am become quite concerned/stressed/depressed.
Avatar f tn t have a weight problem because I am very active. My energy level is good. But my hair loss is a problem I count 175 everyday in the shower .. My doc also put me on low naltexne for my hashi. It made me tired and my hairloss stayed the same.
Avatar m tn My 5yr old golden retriever has all of a sudden developed hair loss and redness around his mouth. I have changed his dry dog food brand to one with the exact same ingredients and percentages as his previous one and I'm thinking maybe it's that but I also have a 10yr old goldie on the same food and he is fine. What do you think?
429700 tn?1308007823 Is there anything besides autoimmune alopecia, lupus, hypothyroidism that could cause hair loss? I've noticed quite a bit of my hair coming out in the shower and hair all over the place today. Can being anemic cause this? I do have hypothyroidism (I've had it for years and have been on the same amount of levothyroxine for years). Last TSH was over a year ago, though. I feel like poop, too. I've had an upset tummy, very weak, and feeling odd (spacey, ears ringing super loud).
Avatar f tn t had any problems but since menopause have had high cholesterol, a vitamin D deficiency, joint pain, hair loss, memory loss etc. etc. I was wondering what these results mean and or, if any, other tests I should Should be looking toward other autoimmune problems and should see a Rheumatologist rather than an endocronologist?
Avatar f tn I am a young female with PCOS. The initial complaint that I brought to my doctor was experiencing hair growth on my face, excess hair growth on my arms/legs/bikini, and hair loss on my head. I've since begun laser hair removal on my face and arms, but I am about 4 treatments in (24 wks) and am not noticing results. It is becoming more and more difficult to hold my head high- many days I don't even want to be seen in public.
