I take Avodart (Dutasteride) 0.5 mg tabs twice a week for the past 6 months. I lowered the dose when I developed gynecomastia (breast tissue). Avodart has a long half life. Will it still work to help my benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)? I have been taking Avodart for 5 years and it has been very helpful.
5 mcg calcitriol, some NSAIDs, and some vitamin E daily. I also took dutasteride for a total of 17 months. (On-and-off dutasteride convinced me that I could never endure serious ADT. Thus my "watchful waiting" could only be waiting for metastasis and death (or for the recent good news).
I have no god and don't work with radioactive materials or unusual chemicals. Something in my simple faddish regimen apparently helped with my cancer. I hope it can help others.
I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin .
Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago.
I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive.
Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
Hello , i am 21 years old and to control hairfall i consulted a dermatologist and he prescribed ne a dose of 1 dutasteride tablet everyday for 20 days. I have completed 10 days of medication though it's helping in hair fall control many side effects too are coming out as:
-reduced sex drive
-testicle pain a little bit
-thin ejaculation
Will it be worth taking the tablets for another 10 days?
i am having tachycardia, chestpain after using flomax - only second pill how long can take the side effects considering that i stopped taking flowmax 36 hours

Dutasteride or Avodart prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is involved in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
This medicine helps improve urinary flow and may also reduce your need for prostate surgery later on.
However, it is recommended that you take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.
If your father has been prescribed a medication called dutasteride for treatment of the BPH, it is possible that the diclofenac was interacting with it and leading to his problems with urination.
However, it is possible that the difficulty in urination could be due to the BPH itself and not related to the possible drug interaction. If the problem is due to an enlarged prostate, it would be better to have him undergo some procedures such as PVP (photoselective vaporization) to treat the BPH.
You must avoid donating blood for 6 months after stopping the drug for the risk of exposure of pregnant women to Avodart through the donated blood.
It affects male genital development or causes external genital abnormalities in male fetus.
There have been studies supporting no effect in fetus if male partner is taking this drug provided the female partner takes precaution against a broken or crushed capsule which can be absorbed via skin.

t masterbated and i was also developed new symtoms which is pain in my left testes (for which i was taking dolo only once in a day) mostly in the evening and slight sensitiion in my penis along with that my eyes are becoming red sometimes in the evening . After these pain n all got also reduced. yesterday i thought to check whether all okay but I experienced some sort of pain while masturbating and atlast faced this watery semen discharge.
I am currently taking Dutasteride, but have taken Rapaflo, Myrbetrig and others over the years. They work for 3 months then right back to same urination issues. I am concerned about elevating PSA numbers but have not gotten answers after seeing 4 different urologist! Ideas ?

DRE (which, incidentally and wrongly was done after FNAC) revealed a slight firmness (no nodule) on the right side. I took a long course of ofloxacin which dropped the PSA to 12.75 after 3 months.
I continued the ofloxacin hoping for further improvement, but after 6 more weeks the PSA remained the same.
I am an Asian, no family history of PCa, and have no symptoms yet.
What should be my next course of action? Should i get treated for BPH (?dutasteride) and see the results?

I think it would be alot easier id you guys get married before the baby comes , reason being is wen yuh get married after yuh have him/her yu'll have a lot on yur plate , planning a wedding & taking care of a baby . Try to talk him into having it b4 , it'll be easier on the both of yu especially YOU being the mommy.
My doctors are a little slow in telling me what high blood medications I can take with visteris (the 3rd drug after interferon and ribovarin) and what bph (enlarged prostate) med i can take. my hep doctor insists I can't take rapaflow (bph) or amlodopine (high blood pressure). If you have had a similar experience or can help please respond. God bless you and my prayers for your recoveries.
About 2 months ago I also experienced horrible headaches and left eye blur. I had the ct scan, the mri with contrast dye and 2 weeks ago had a pet scan. I have something, but its really unknown what it is. A tumor is what the dr. is calling it. I had pre-op tests takes this afternoon for my surgery scheduled for Sept 9th 2008. I am having a crainotomy but I am very unaware of what will happen before, during and after the surgery. It measures about the size and shape of a half flattened egg.

Anyway, as I said when we discussed things before, if your cycles were perfect and you could count on having ovulated on Day 14, or if your ultrasound was earlier, you could be sure this was your husband/boyfriend's baby. The odds favor it. But unfortunately, it is too late to get a dating ultrasound that would make it clearer or guaranteed.
