Duoneb medication treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Duoneb medication treatment

duoneb

Avatar n tn The answer is complicated. The reason for giving these medications sequentially, is that they have different effects. By giving one med before the other the optimal medicinal performance is obtained with a minimum of medication. There is a difference of opinion regarding this issue. My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
7748835 tn?1393868668 Hello. I'm 16, 5'6 and 118lbs. I've had asthma since I was little and I just got a diagnosis that it was moderate persistent asthma but has worsened since I've had that diagnosis so I'm sure it's severe now. I'm on Advair 250/20 as a preventor and I have Ventolin HFA as a rescue inhaler. I take Advair twice a day, but sometimes forget to take it. I don't believe it helps prevent any symptoms or attacks whatsoever.
Avatar m tn I currently take advair and Spiriva medication.. is this the one and only mediacation, since there are no genericand here in the united states unlike the rest of the world which has a free market, we are controlled by the drug industry.
Avatar n tn Those two medications are used for different things and therefore are taken at different times. Ventolin: rescue medication if you are having problems breathing. You take the prescribed dosage and it should ease your breathing (if it doesn't or you have to use it more than 3 times a week - not including before exercise - you need a doctor check up) Flovent: a controlling, day to day medication. This one helps reduce the overall inflammation to control the asthma.
Avatar f tn The only prescription medication I use now is Duoneb (albuterol and ipratropium) in a nebulizer. I use about two ampules a day. I do not use a rescue inhaler. Instead I have a small, portable nebulizer. It is so small that it fits into my purse. The advantage is that I can take as little as I need, sometimes just a few puffs. It is made by Omron and costs about $200. It is worth every cent.
Avatar n tn I was also given a three day regiment of azithromicin (zythromax) and Tussionex to control the cough. I was also given a DuoNeb. None of which seemed to work. After checking in with my primary care, i was given a flovent inhaler, to no avail. Following that, i was put on 80mg of prednisone, down to 60, then weaned off.
Avatar n tn I now use only natural anti-inflammatories and am more symptom free than I was using those poisons. The only medication I take is an Duoneb (albuterol/ipratropium) in a nebulizer. I have fairly severe COPD. The best remedy I have found for chronic bronchitis are large doses of vitamin B5. B5 is a mucus thinner and an anti-inflammatory. There are no side effects. I take other stuff as well and have just added some Chinese herbs (under doctor's advice).
Avatar n tn You doctor added the FLovent because he/she did not feel that you were getting the control you needed from the previous treatment plan. I would consider the Flovent as an addition to you previous routine and not change anything. Take care and have a blessed New Year.
Avatar n tn I stopped Advair because of serious choking that threatened my life. I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.
Avatar f tn It is a constant problem even just using the Duoneb, and especially if I have to take any antibiotics. I'm, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth.
9880688 tn?1414115647 He also gets an awful gurgle (started after his first chemo treatment). After the 3rd treatment they quit...they said if they gave him one more it would kill him. I know he was stage 1...they got most of the cancer out via surgery. Is this airway thing normal? Is it normal to have good O2 levels everywhere in your body except going to your brain? Will the gurgle (I don't know what else to call it) ever go away. Whenever he's been sick and in the hospital and put on i.v.
Avatar f tn I've been taking this medication since the beginning of my pregnancy for nausea. I can't function without it or I'll be throwing up constantly all day. Some days are better than others. I've been seeing articles and my husband said he saw the zofran bad drug commercial. It says it's been causes cleft lips and pallets, and some heart problems. I don't mean to scare anyone. I don't think my doctor would prescribe me anything that would hurt my baby.
Avatar n tn Spiriva (titropium) is a inhaled antihistamine indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Antihistamines frequently cause dry mouth and dry sinuses (benadryl is an antihistamine). The side effect is not considered serious, but you should call your physician if it continues. A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms.
Avatar n tn I use Duoneb and Mucomyst in a nebulizer. Additionall I use natural antiinflammatories and an anti-histamine. I do not use any inhaled steroids as they caused bronchitis and sticky phlegm. They also caused adrenal fatigue and, after using that poison for eight years, I suffered a broken hip. Steroids cause osteoporosis, cataracts, and wreck your immune system. I am thinking of adding Spiriva inasmuch as Mucomyst has solved the mucus problem.
Avatar f tn i am already on several medications for my asthma ( symbicort 160, singulair, duoneb 2x daily as a maintanance ,and still need my maxair daily. i have been on 6 prednisone tapers so far this year and have been doing allergy shot for 1.5 yrs with next to no improvement in my asthma. my question is, i know all the good , bad and ugly about prednisone but i HAVE TO be able to live my life!!! does anyone know of any alternatives that i might discuss with my doctor.
Avatar n tn She took singulair and flovent inhaler and walked 3 miles a day. Two years ago she needed to use Duoneb via nebulizer. She was not short of breath at any time but had a few bouts with chronic bronchitis. Since moving to Florida a year ago, her husband died in Dec of 2007 and she is now short of breath. Her pulmonologist in FL took her off all of lung medications and within 3 days she was wheezing like a maniac.
Avatar f tn I accept this diagnosis and I am seeking treatment to quit smoking—I started taking wellbutrin to help me with it and now I am just waiting for the medication to get into my system, before I try and stop. I have my quit date set and a plan in place to facilitate my success. My question has to do with how young I have been diagnosed. I am only 30 years old. I had a diagnosis of emphysema at 29—by 30 COPD. I am not a super heavy smoker and I did not start exceptionally young.
Avatar f tn I have taken allergy drugs, zertac and singular, Amoxicillian, nose rinses for sinuses, asthamex, proair, use of nebulizer and duoneb med's, and med's for cystic fibrosis, and nothing works. The Amox worked for a very short while than stopped working. I'm beside myself b/c I can't live like this. I wake up in the morning most times totally congested getting almost no air in my nose, and my throat with a big pocket of phlegm.
Avatar m tn Probiotics are appropriate after the antibiotic treatment is completed, and are helpful in repopulating the gut with helpful bacteria killed by the antibiotic.
Avatar n tn what type of medication should I give my blue healer cross when she is having her muscle spasms?
Avatar f tn Trestment for ischemia can be medication, stent implant and open heart bypass. If medication is ineffective, then the next step would be a stent if appropriate based on size and location, if not, then by-pass. I don't mean to be confusing, but based on the limited information with your post and the seriousness for a good decision requires consultation with your doctor and hopefully the informtion provided will give you some insight for an effective discussion with your doctor.
Avatar m tn m on an old tryclic a d like amitripiline and on an ssri Prozac ( sertraline is another SSRI type drug i believe) as well in order to augment the treatment, both prescribed by my GP. This should be something you run by them but using the similiar logic for me you'd think that it would think it sounds fine.
Avatar n tn The mastectomy is followed by a reconsrtuction with a salt water ballon which is filled each month, the treatment is going very well ,however she had an hormonal change i'm not quite sure why. she put up 15 kilogrames in less than 3 months which is unusual for her genetic built, she has trouble breathing at night..but specialy her stomac seems to be inflated with no reason , it is fullfiled with air and it is hard as a rock..Do you what can be the reason?
Avatar f tn Need any & all info on new medication that's out now... symptoms, cure rate, etc.
Avatar f tn Your insurance sounds whacked! Please tell its not an HMO ?! Lyrica is not an experimantal drug for this treatment the FDA approved it for the treatment of fibromyalgia. I took it for a few yrs. I gained a bunch of weight & still took ibuprofen by the handfuls for the pain. Ask your Dr about Savella. My dr switched me to this about 3 mnths ago & its amazing. I'm very happy with it.
Avatar n tn The warning is really against the use of long acting beta-2 agonists (LABA - bronchodilaters) alone for the treatment of asthma. Using a LABA without treating the underliing inflamation of asthma is the issue. Since Advair does contain an LABA, it was included in the warning. They are safe when used in combination with inhaled steroids as in Advair and other combination meds.
