Avatar f tn For now, keep peanut products away from him and read labels and watch for warnings. There are labels warning of products that are not peanut products that say that they are made on the same equipment as where peanuts were processed. Be on the alert for this, depending on how severe his allergy is. I'm sure your son's pediatrician or allergist must have also tested for all other nut allergies. Be on the look out even if he tested negative for the other nut allergies.
Avatar f tn I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old. Her mom is not allergic to peanuts , but my niece is allergic to peanuts. You have to be careful of ice cream too as this could contain traces of peanuts. My niece's mom is extremely careful.
Avatar f tn It is a constant problem even just using the Duoneb, and especially if I have to take any antibiotics. I'm, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth.
467126 tn?1283144858 s a superstition that your child could develop a peanut allergy if you do. I, however, ate peanut butter every single day and my kids are allergy-free!!!
Avatar n tn You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
Avatar n tn Peanut butter is good for u and baby.
Avatar f tn He is fine now but what I do not understand is that just last week, we were eating junk food such as snickers, reesees cups, and McDonalds and he was just fine. And just today he was at school and he ate regular peanuts and responded to them so terribly. I thought if someone has an allergy to peanuts, wouldn't it be bad for them to consume products that consists of peanuts? He didn't get sick last week from eating that food, but he got really sick today. I am totally confused.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. It could indicate an allergic reaction. More so if repeated episodes have occurred with consumption of peanut butter. Allergic reactions are mediated by IgE antibodies, which are released on exposure to a particular allergen. These in turn activate mast cells and lead to a local response or systemic anaphylaxis. Antihistamines may help to relieve the symptoms. It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms.
427382 tn?1298209586 I have never heard the peanut butter while breastfeeding thing either. I definately ate a lot of P.B. while nursing my son - all 15 months! I did not eat chocolate or anything else with caffiene. and brocolli, cauliflower and sauerkraut DEFINATELY made him gassy. I think those are the only things I couldn't eat.
Avatar n tn I stopped Advair because of serious choking that threatened my life. I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.
Avatar f tn To protect the girl, students in her class at Edgewater Elementary School are required to wash their hands before entering the classroom in the morning and after lunch, and rinse out their mouths, Wait said, and a peanut-sniffing dog checked out the school during last week's spring break. Wait said school leaders will meet this week with parents to address concerns and try to halt inaccurate rumors that children's mouths were being wiped with disinfectant.
Avatar m tn This is a blood test which measures IgE antibodies in blood against suspected allergen (substance causing allergy). A repeat intra-dermal and RAST test for peanut and shrimp should be conclusive enough. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn t be in the same room with peanut products, because just breathing the air with peanut dust and oil can cause anaphylaxis. I know that the smell of peanuts will even trigger migraines for me, so I myself can still have a reaction if I'm in the same room with peanut products.
Avatar n tn To give some background - I have always had stomach problems. As a child I was frequently constipated and had regular stomach upsets. In college I would regularly feel very sick, and I had rashes near my elbows on my arms, and my eyes would constantly be swollen. I have also always had weight problems, and I am struggling to maintain a healthy weight right now. I am also constantly exhausted, but I have just learned to sleep 10 hours a night.
Avatar n tn The common existing food allergens are Peanut flour, peanut butter, powdered egg white, Powdered/fresh milk Soy milk, soy flour Wheat breads, flour etc. As allergic reactions are IgE mediated, blood tests will show increase in these levels secondary to a food allergy. The problem with the food allergy testing is sometimes the amount of food they challenge with may be not sufficient to elicit any allergic reactions.
Avatar n tn I have tried several different brands of peanut butter including natural and organic peanut butter. And this has started happening within the past year or so. What could this problem be? Am I becoming allergic to peanut butter or am I intolerant to peanut butter all of a sudden?
Avatar f tn I have taken allergy drugs, zertac and singular, Amoxicillian, nose rinses for sinuses, asthamex, proair, use of nebulizer and duoneb med's, and med's for cystic fibrosis, and nothing works. The Amox worked for a very short while than stopped working. I'm beside myself b/c I can't live like this. I wake up in the morning most times totally congested getting almost no air in my nose, and my throat with a big pocket of phlegm.
7748835 tn?1393868668 Before I use to take the inhaler and my coughing and shortness of breath and tightness would go away almost instantly. Now it's not helping and if it does it barely does anything. I'm thinking this medication isn't doing anything or helping me. I wanted to know what I should do. If I need to try other medications. I wanted to see if my doctor would think about duoneb? I got told it would be a big help if I did a few treatments a day.
4715985 tn?1371582997 I hate peanut butter so much too a point rmthat it makes me feel sick (ever since im a kid actually) but if its actually true then ill suffer and eat that darn peanut butter for the sake of avoiding peanut allergies. It just sounds like a old wives tale to me really. I mean if my kid is allergic to something its its his genes already, no?
Avatar f tn What is causing it? I fed her peanut butter once and this happened and my roommate fed her peanut butter on a seperate occasion and nothing happened except for her loving it! I feed her out of a plastic bowl for the time being that I wash every day. Since Charley is so new to our house there are no scratches or anything in the bowl and she is getting a metal one in the next couple of days.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms strongly suggestive of food allergy and subsequent gastro intestinal anaphylaxis and broncho constriction. In such cases diarrhea usually begin two to six hours after ingestion. Determination of the food you are allergic to, is one of the challenges which you need to pass through. The common existing food allergens are Peanut flour, peanut butter, powdered egg white, Powdered/fresh milk Soy milk, soy flour Wheat breads, flour etc.
Avatar f tn Hives usually do indicate an IgE mediated allergic reaction though, although there are non-IgE mediated allergic reactions like acid reflux and a few others. Some people with peanut allergy can just inhale a very small amount of a shell and go into anaphalaxis shock. If you think you are allergic to a food it is best to avoid it altogether. I hope that you get the answers you need.
Avatar f tn ve been eating it my whole pregnancy and I have a friend who craved peanut butter her whole pregnancy and ate it by the jar off a spoon and her son (2 years old) has no allergies what so ever.
Avatar f tn You may have some immunity while being pregnant. I've never been allergic to anything and now I'm allergic to rabbits, and have to use only mild soap and lotions like baby products because my skin breaks out. Pregnancy does some crazy stuff but I'd still steer clear of peanuts.
Avatar n tn food allergy (like peanuts or shellfish), but a cross-reaction to a pollen allergy. I suffer from it and have a huge, long list of raw fruits and vegetables that I react to. My symptoms are itching tongue, lips, throat, and inside of ears/back of throat....and if it's severe enough I wheeze, have an asthma attack, and occasionally get indigestion if I eat too much of the item. But other symptoms (that I don't have) are a burning sensation in the mouth and lips.
