Ive been using nizoral shampoo every other day on the infected area and for the first 2 weeks was using lamisil or canensten cream (anitfungal). However the last doctor i went to prescribed me DOVONEX (calciptotriol). Ive done some research on what it is, and there is no link between Psoriasis(which is what dovonex is used for) and Pytriaisis Versicolor or even Tinea Versicolor, or any other fungal infections for that matter.
my son has severe plaque psoriasis. he is on medicare and dovonex is not covered. What other medicine can he use and is there any financial assistance.?
Hi, I am really really concerned about a burn scar which I have on my left hand. I burned my hand with hot wax in a little area about a size of a quarter about 6 months ago. Now I have a white scar on that area. I've been to a dermatologist and they prescribed me Dovonex and Vectical ointment. I've been using Dovonex and now I'm using Vectical. The dermatologist told me I should keep putting the ointment on before I think of doing something else.
It started with a very small red patch on my upper lip. Doctor prescibed Novasalic oint and I used it for three years off and on. With time its spreading more and more over the face. I do not use any soap or cleanser at all on my face. (just fresh water wash) THe doctor then prescribed oral Adoxa, Ketoconazole and and it helped for just the duration of medication course. Again i was given injections of lonacart but it did not help.
I have been switched to Dovonex for the treatment of psoriasis, but experienced achey joints and hormonal fluctuations after prolonged use of Desonide (0.05%). I was wondering if this is just a coincidence (that I am just naturally predisposed to having thyroid problems) or if I misused the ointment.
He put me on Clindimyacin 300mg TID on 2/23/12 along with Clotrimazole topical oint. to treat a secondary bacterial infection stemming from the initial fungal infection on my skin. The lump is down to a nickel size and barely tender. He felt great about it and told me to finish the clindimyacin and keep using the oint. I go home yesterday, 2/27/12, and went to sleep. Then I got up to shower and felt under my arm and the initial lump was smaller but I had developed a new one about pea-sized.
What I would reccommend doing is pull it back and cleanse it well a couple of times a day, if it is torn (open and bleeding) apply some antibiotic oint. If it is red, has discharge, foul smelling or does not heal in a couple of days make sure to go into the doctor and get it checked. I would probably refrain from sexual activity until it heals to prevent it from tearing or becoming more irritated.

Hello, my six month old son was born with ILVEN. It starts on the back of his shoulder and goes down his arm to the crease of his arm. We have been going to a pediatric dermatologist since we first noticed it. They did a biopsy and it came back as ILVEN. His dermatologist prescribed dovonex and a steroid cream I apply twice daily. I have been doing this for 3 months now and I don't see any change at all. Our next appointment is in another 3 months to check it.
Have you tried Dovonex, a vitamin D3 derivitive, on your elbows? Might be stronger than Elidel on that part of the body. Ointment is stronger than cream. Just be careful not to get it on your face so best to wear long sleeves after applying so you won't accidently touch.Also, as mentioned, Protopic -- very similar to Elidel -- is a bit stronger and sometimes works better than Elidel.
I have been on betamethasone, desonide, dovonex (for a year) and, now, clobetasol (once a day). I will be undergoing phototherapy in a month.
My question is whether or not it is safe to have phototherapy on thinning skin.
Also, should I treat thinning skin with moisturizers or is there another solution? I have terrible bruising; but the cream seems to be working.
Hi, My husband is 39 and has only allergies and asthma to speak of. 10 years ago, he developed a red rash all along his waistband and under his arms. Non itchy. A derm. examined him and made the DX of ( I believe ) either contact dermatitis or excema..can't remember. he was given Lidex oint . and the DR told him to throw out the dryer strips and fabric softner. I really don't know if my husband used the ointment faithfully.

How can i know if the fungus is gone and whether i should stoop using the dovonex as it is starting to irritate me and is a hassle putting it on.
Apply neosporin (triple antibiotic oint) til completely closed. The last thing you need right now is a secondary infection in a incision!
I had my TT on 12/21/07 and I have been using vit E oil and then I will switch to a scar cream that you can get at Wal-Mart. The incision does look thick and bumpy, but it is all part of the healing process. In due time you probably wont be able to see it that well. I still do not lift anything that is that heavy. I makes my neck muscles hurt.
