Avatar m tn Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago. Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.
Avatar n tn s, but did show almost 6 hours of sinus tachycardia (peeking at 190 while walking and lasting for 30 minutes). This was the first time I have had an episode of palpitations, chest pain or syncope since my ablation. Is it true that it would likely NOT be VT considering my follow up holter showed almost no PVC's? Is it necessary to find out the type of arrhythmia it was even though it has only occurred once in the past 6 months? Thanks for your assistance!
Avatar n tn I have syncope also. I have all the slow, fast, skipping, flutters etc. they did all the tests and my heart is strong but i failed my tilt test. There are several types of syncope. I have vaso vagal. My cousin has the more rare POTS. that causes syncope also. She said she failed her tilt several times but wasn't diagnosed with POTS until they did an EEG, laying, sitting, then standing. Ask questions when at the DR for sure. There's not too much info on POTS and a lot of Dr.
Avatar f tn We have read about non-epileptic seizures that are caused by diminished cardiac output, cardiac syncope. What are the chances that this seizure was caused by the bradycardia and not epilepsy? Also how likely is a reoccurence?
Avatar n tn Please help me if you can, we need to find someone who specializes in Syncope and in very low blood pressure. Sometimes upon standing the nurses can't even get a reading on her blood pressure because it drops so low.
1551453 tn?1294245067 I'm an 18 year old female who was ER diagnosed with syncope. Twice in two weeks I found myself passing out at work. I felt completely fine before passing out and only had a headache when I woke up. Between the two times I passed out at work I would have moments where I would get light headed and my heart would pound in my chest extremely hard and fast to the point where I would have to sit down.
1526469 tn?1291626911 I haven't been diagnosed with anything, they just say I have syncope. the tilt table test was positive, meaning I had an episode there but they had given me epinefrin or norepinefrin, don't remember well. The nurses measured my blood pressure while in different positions and it was stable.
Avatar m tn 86year old episode of syncope male conscious after1-3 min according to relative Maybe seizure but no history of such BP 144/100 on arrival toER 30 min after Collapse PVCs on ECG for On 8mg of cardura (alpha blocker) forBP eltroxin 75mg for hypothyroidism Serc16 for balance 75 mg aspirin History of asthma 30 years on SABA prn and ICS And pernicious anemia for 20 years Local cardiologist moving straight for pacemaker without angio just echo Interested in comments.
Avatar m tn So far all the tests are coming back normal. He was initially diagnosed with vasovagal syncope in March of 2013. At that time it was only the one episode. As of January 2014 they have increased to 2-3 times a week. Has anyone ever dealt with these symptoms and been successfully treated? What other tests could we consider to find the cause of these episodes?
1512628 tn?1304974064 I have vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, NMS, cardiogenic syncope... What in the world is the difference? Every time I end up in a different hospital they call my fainting something else. (Each time they get my records from each other). As of yet there remains to be no ryhme or reason why I went from the occasional fainting to a wheel chair so that I could leave my bed and crawling to the bathroom behind!!! Any thoughts???
Avatar n tn Sinus brady: avg 48BPM but as low as 35-38 BPM Syncope/near syncope with brady 41-35. No hypotension noted during sinus brady at any rate.---in fact BP is better with lower HR. Lab testing= WNL Tile table=neg. (BP slight hypertensive no hypotension/carotid massage neg) Persantine Stress test=neg. Heart Cath= slight CAD circumflex and descending arteries < 30%. Holter monitor=sinus brady/no SA node dysfunction. 30 day event monitor=sinus brady/no SA node dysfunction.
Avatar f tn While most cases of syncope are due to vasovagal syncope (VVS), more common than syncope is presyncope. Cardiologists working in a syncope clinic or in a tilt table laboratory will realize that a common confounder of vasovagal syncope and presyncope is postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS; primarily presenting with presyncope)." Presyncope is lightheadedness, muscular weakness and feeling faint as opposed to syncope (fainting).
Avatar n tn My 17 year old son has vasovagal syncope. He has fainted 4 times and was taken by ambulance to the hospital for these episodes. The last episode resulted in a concussion and staples to the back of the head.He is a distance runner who is now not allowed to run, walk more than 1/2 mile, bike or do any other exercise. His current meds are Proamatine 10mg twice daily and 5 mg once daily, Fludrocortisone .1mg once per day. He drinks 64 ounces of Gatordae daily.
1068552 tn?1255133108 cid=196 (Their contact info is at the bottom of their syncope page, if I remember correctly.) From what little I know of cough syncope, I think it can be related to vasalva maneuver-type changes in chest pressure. I can probably dig up more information on it in one of the comprehensive ANS/syncope medical textbooks if you give me a few days.
Avatar f tn The various causes of syncope are central nervous system ischemia, vasovagal syncope may occur during urination, coughing etc, postural, cardiac syncope, neurological syncope, hypoglycemia, deglutition syncope associated with solids swallowing, cardiac includes cardiac arrhythmias, obstructive cardiac lesions, structural cardiopulmonary disease, sick sinus syndrome etc.
Avatar n tn Feeling fatigued after the event is consistent with neurocardiogenic syncope -- that is a classic symptom. Syncope from cardiac causes does not classically cause fatigue. Cardiac causes can cause the heat sensation, but this is typically from neurocardiogenic/vasovagal syncope. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn If aortic insufficiency is related to your syncope, the condition would need to be serious enough to decrease blood flow to the brain. If there is heart related syncope, it is usually due to heart rhythm disorders. If the heartbeat is too slow or too fast, there may be a lack of blood flow to the brain... Howevr, sometimes a thick heart muscle or valve disorder may decrease blood flow. Palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, excess perspiration or a feeling of anxiety may occur.
Avatar n tn I have suffered from migraines for many years. Lately I have developed vasovagal syncope when I get a headache. My migraine meds don't help these headaches much. My blood pressure and pulse rate drops and I black out. My question is this.
Avatar f tn Yes, the diagnostics bit can be a bit of a mess. You sort of have to separate it into two things: what can actually be going on, and what different doctors prefer to label it. As for whether the cluster of signs and symptoms that is termed "POTS" is mutually exclusive of the physiological process that is termed "neurocardiogenic syncope" or "vasovagal syncope," the short answer is NO. You can definitely have both going on in the same patient.
Avatar n tn syncope = fainting EEG = electroencephalogram- Some info. about this test is on this site: http://www.webmd.
Avatar n tn Hi, Vasovagal syncope is rarely life-threatening in itself, but is mostly associated with injuries from falling while having an episode.Stroke is caused by increase in blood pressure and not by decrease in blood pressure .So there are no chances of your husband getting a stroke due to syncope . Prolonged standing or upright sitting and standing up very quickly are the triggers for the attack . Please take adequate measures to decrease the episodes of syncope .
Avatar f tn Check out the documentary "Under Our Skin" which is about chronic Lyme disease. That's an eye opener! I have four autoimmune diseases and have a negative ANA btw. Hmmm :) I did find a study entitled - Syncope and Raynaud's disease. Syncope is the medical term for fainting. This does make sense that fainting could be a symptom of Raynaud's due to ischaemia (restriction in blood supply to tissues) in the brain.
Avatar n tn is a corticosteroid typically prescribed for folks with neurally mediated syncope and neurocardiogenic syncope. The drug induces a state of sodium retention, which raises orthostatic blood pressure, and thus, minimizes or prevents syncope episodes - particularly those occurring with abrupt changes in posture. Would suggest seeking the opinion of a cardiologist or neurologist who specializes in Dysautonomia. A baseline Isuprel tilt-table test will establish the diagnosis.
881165 tn?1265984588 Well, heck, I forgot to say "On average", because I know it really varies for some people. And yes, my response is at least once a day, after every known treatment out there.
