Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar n tn By the way, the natural remedies work better for me than the steroids did. In fact, the steroids made my condition worse.
Avatar n tn Spiriva does NOT contain any steroids! Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar n tn My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler? Are there other alternative that I and my doc should consider.
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
1398693 tn?1343684738 On the other hand, relief of symptoms following the administration of combivent does suggest a correlation between what you experience and limitation of airflow. However, putting that relief aside for a moment, such symptoms are more commonly experienced with heart disease or chronic musculoskeletal strain (the result of exercise involving the muscles of the chest wall.
Avatar n tn Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.
Avatar f tn I found that prednisone was causing many problems, as were inhaled steroids. I now do much better on natural anti-inflammatories and albuterol. I am on 2 liters of oxygen.
20811006 tn?1518459943 Its a mild case of COPD and was prescribed Combivent as needed, I recently started having a burning in my left side lung, my pulmonologist felt it was acid reflux, I had no other acid reflux symptoms besides the burning throughout the day. I became ill feeling and felt I had the flu and went into the ER where the prescribed Azithromycin and Prednisone I was reluctant to take them as I do not take medicine unless its absolutely necessary, Not even a Tylenol.
199980 tn?1233797404 Im really struggling with the ms hug tonight... It's so painful, I'm on Zanaflex for it and it has always helped in the past but don't seem to be getting much relief tonight. I'm also on my 6th day of steroids for another attack and steroids always gives me muscle spazms, so Im sure this isn't helping. thanks for letting me vent guys.
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor, as you can see i did before a question about hepatitis.I know that probably i just need a rassicurance of my mind and i wanna work with psychologist expert.I'm sorry to disturb you again.anyway this is the question, i post here because hepatits b and c are also STD (even if rarely case). So years ago i used anabolic steroids but i now, from about 5 year i stopped to use them.I did check blood and my health it's ok now.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I don't know why I wheeze on exhale all the time after taking azithromycin for 6 weeks and having a bad 8 week flu even the inhaled steroids don't really help I'm on an asv and oxygen for sleep apnea but it doesn't seem to be that effective. I've tried MANY settings- does anyone know a good ASV setting like should you go with a higher more uncomfortable epap and ps max/min to reduce AHI?
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
Avatar f tn If i am using a moderate steroid cream on my hands while i having athletes feet infection on my hands. am i still contagious spreading via skin contact and fungal spores or does the moderate steroid cream temporarly take the fungus away at all to depress it?????
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar n tn My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
Avatar f tn And I got off all inhaled steroids because of the serious problems they caused. Now I use only natural anti-inflammatories and am all the better for it (as well as richer). By the way, my COPD is as bad as yours. I was taking acetylcysteine (Mucomyst) by nebulizer for congestion. This is not always available so I had to make do in some other fashion. I use a slightly hypertonic saline which I make myself and nebulize that.
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar f tn I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...
Avatar m tn t contain sperm . I read a lot on it saying it does not contain sperm but if not all released prior to the sexual contact sperm can be in it which can result in pregnancy . All that can really be said is if she is late on her period have her take a test .you may have had that precum on your underwear because you were still aroused and didn't finish anything so that may have came after the encounter there's no saying that was on the condom while you were have intercourse .
