Avatar f tn Hello, everyone. I have had a rash on my chin (see picture) for about 5 months now. It started out on the right side of my chin. It would come and go randomly without treatment. About a year ago I had some seborrheic dermatitis around my nose and the derm prescribed me Ertaczo (an anti-fungal). That cleared up the rash right away. I went to my primary physician and showed him the rash on my chin mentioning that it looked similar to the rash I originally had around my nose.
Avatar n tn Hello, I was told around late September that, after a biopsy and several different treatments that isn't work that I had folliculitis with yeast. I was wondering how long should it take to get rid of this rash as it still remains to this day but it is certainly not as bad as it once was. Also I have been dealing with flaky white skin in my penis when erect? What could cause this?
Avatar n tn it has been around 2 years not , and i was wondering does folliculitis necessarily cause hair loss? i have not experienced hair loss until now, but i dont know if it will anytime down the road. Help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I've had a problem for close to 15 years, and have never been able to get an answer as to what the problem really is and how to correct it. I have these very small red bumps / pimples in my hair. I've tried all the shampoos out there over time, and none ever work. I've been able to somewhat control it by keeping my hair short and as dry as possible. Dandruff shampoos make matters worse, not better. (Selson Blue, Coal Tar extract, Head & Shoulders. . .
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to perifolliculitis scalp. It is characterised by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful. Apart from that you need topical and oral antibiotics, antihistamines, oral steroids and topical tretinoin.
Avatar n tn Most treatments are either systemic antifungal medications such as terbinafine and itraconazole, or topical such as nail paints containing ciclopirox or amorolfine. There is also evidence for combining systemic and topical treatments for effective results. A 2002 study compared the efficacy and safety of terbinafine in comparison with placebo, itraconazole and griseofulvin in treating fungal infections of the nails.
Avatar n tn t as itchy as before. I tried a few off the counter medications but none seemed to work. I went to the hospital and i was told it was a fungus. They gave me "Nifuratel tablets" to take ---2 pills after every meal. And they also gave me "Ciclopirox Olamine Vaginal Suppositories" to use every night before going to sleep. It's now almost a week since i began taking these, and the problem is still there. It's not as itchy as before, but i can still feel it.

Specific treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics for which I suggest you to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.

Avatar f tn t really bleed. There is some sort of clear liquid that does not smell. When the skin grows back I have a small bald spot for a bit until my hair grows back. I went to a dermatoligist once who told me they were a fungal infection and gave me some medicine for it as well as a topical medicine to use. When I went back the doctor said it was cleared up but later I started getting the same things again. I didn't go back because at the time I didn't have the money for it.

Avatar n tn I tried lamisil cream for 4 weeks with only a slight improvement and then saw my GP. He prescribed ciclopirox which I used for 5 weeks with maybe 25-50% improvement, but it would occasionally flare and come back just as strong. Went back to the GP and he suggested maybe the fungus was almost gone and that it was more inflammation than anything. To be sure, he prescribed oral ketoconazole for 2 weeks and prescription hydrocortisone.
Avatar f tn I’ve tried a number of over the counter and prescribed medications in order to get rid of the smell, but nothing has seemed to work. I wash my hair daily, and I keep my pillow cases and sheets extremely clean, but I’m still embarrassed every day by the odor that emits from my scalp. I’ve recently shaved my head bald, thinking that would help get rid of the smell, but the odor seems to come through even stronger now because I don’t have any hair product to mask the smell.
