does aggrenox have a generic

Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?

Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!

I have been taking a baby aspirin for some years and subsequently had a stroke/ruptured aneurysm and TIA recently. The doctor prescribed Aggrenox and I take it twice a day.

Patients with a lupus anticoagulant are prone to excess bleeding, repeated miscarriages, thrombosis and strokes. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant that presents atleast twice and a history of thrombosis should be given indefinite treatment with anticoagulants. Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin. If clots occur heparin followed by warfarin ( coumadin )is usually prescribed. Higher-than-usual doses of warfarin may be needed.

By any chance did you switch from brand name synthroid to a generic? Sometimes the levels of thyroid hormones in generic just aren't as consistent as they should be. However, it just might be your body adjusting to all the changes - I had a TT in May '06 and had perfectly good levels until my 3 month followup, when I went hypo and needed a dosage increase. I'd call you doctor and tell them your symptoms and ask to have your thyroid levels tested.

it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.

to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...

I certainly noticed a huge difference in Effexor and the generic form. When I was withdrawing I did have to go onto the generic as it comes in tablet form which I could then cut up. Hope you can get the real Effexor, and I am glad you are feeling so much better on it. It would be nice if you could get your meds free too. Take care.

s had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.

Oh yes- forgot to add I am on only name brand synthyroid and cytomel. My endo will not write prescription for generics, says they vary too much - just as you experienced. Thank you.

I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?

I hate anxiety does anyone know of a good anxiety drug that does not make you gain any weight besides ativan and xanax omg I cant freakin handel it anymore!!!!

I would like to point out that as the information on your left says, this is only my personal advice and you should always consult a doctor with problems first. Also, while it is understandable to want information or advice about medication/s you should never alter or stop without speaking to the prescribing doctor first.

s family. You need to take this very seriously. I still have memory problems which the doctors say is a combination of aging and the TIA's. I take lipitor (generic) and plavix (generic) because of my (and family) history. You definitely need to stop smoking, exercise, watch your diet and monitor your salt intake.

Does anyone know if the generic Harvoni is available in India or Thailand yet as I was told that it would be made available in the last quarter of the year, Im no Einstein but this is the last quarter! THEY ALSO TOLD HIM IF AND WHEN HE HAS A STROKE THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A MILD ONE. SO MY QUESTION IS TO YOU IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE HE CAN DO TO HELP HIS SITUATION. YES HE DOES SMOKE AND I KNOW THAT WOULD HELP IF HE STOPPED BUT I DONT THINK HE IS LISTENING. BUT HE DOES EAT RIGHT AND HIS CHOLESTEROL IS REALLY GOOD THE DR.SAID THAT WAS SHOCKING.

This will probably take awhile before a generic is available in the U.S., but at least Teva will no longer have a one of a kind MS drug.
