Dipyridamole with aspirin

Common Questions and Answers about Dipyridamole with aspirin

aggrenox

Avatar f tn As you have been stable on these medications, your doctor has suggested you continue with the same. Aggrenox has both aspirin and dipyridamole extended release. Persantine is dipyridamole, but you will have to get extended release tablets as the two asprin and dipyridamole should not be taken together. Don’t change the medications without discussing with your doctor. So, consult him and then decide. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn While you are taking Aggrenox (aspirin/dipyridamole), you should avoid taking over-the-counter pain medicine, especially any other products containing aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Avatar n tn Some of the alternatives include aspirin, Clopidogrel (Plavix), ticlodipine (Ticlid), dipyridamole (Persantine). Another alternative is Heparin injection. Different situations require different levels of anticoagulation. It is important to discuss the best treatment option with a physician.
Avatar n tn Evidently it is considered to be relatively safe, but as with all herbal medications, it should be used with caution. This herb may be contraindicated in individuals with active bleeding (eg, peptic ulcer, intracranial bleeding). Use with caution in individuals with a history of bleeding, hemostatic disorders, or drug-related hemostatic problems.
Avatar m tn I take baby aspirin daily, and he said to take this instead. I took one with a meal and was up all night with a blinding headache, and severe reflux (I have GERD) and actually bought a mouthful of bile up twice. I've read about the Asasantin side affects and don't like the sound of it at all. I have to see the doc again on Wednesday, and will discuss it then.
1588890 tn?1297073916 The medications of choice are hydroxyurea for patients with higher risk of blood clot formation. aspirin, anti platelet agents like dipyridamole help in reducing clotting complications unless you have bleeding problems. Potential complications are strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary embolism, and potential transformation into leukemia. Methotrexate is indicated in acute lymphoblastic leukemia with steroids for acute remission.
Avatar m tn The adverse effects experienced are similar to those with use of adenosine. While adverse effects are less frequent with dipyridamole (47% of patients), they tend to be more serious than those associated with adenosine. The most common adverse effects of dipyridamole are chest pain (19%), headache (12%), and hypotension (4.6%). In addition, 12% of patients require aminophylline for reversal of adverse effects.
612551 tn?1450022175 In particular, people taking fish oil or long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (EPA and DHA) supplements in combination with anticoagulant drugs, including aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), dipyridamole (Persantine), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid) and warfarin (Coumadin), should have their coagulation status monitored using a standardized prothrombin time assay (INR).

Avatar m tn What is nonreversible apical inferior wall and what does it mean when they say no dipyridamole-induced reversible ischemia .there is mild defect in the apical inferior wall that is not reversible at rest.
Avatar m tn Pharmacological Intervention was performed with injection persantin (Dipyridamole) at a rate of 0.142 mg/kg/min, 07 Mci of Tc-99m Myoview was given I/V. His resting ECG showed 0.5-1mm ST-T Depression in inferolateral leads. No further ECG changes were noted during and after persantin infusion.
Avatar f tn I suffered a mild stroke (blood clot) Consultant prescribed Clopidogrel but cannot tolerate side effects. Then consultant prescribed Dipyridamole. I cannot tolerate this either. Severe headache, vomiting and diarrhoea. Has anybody got a different medication they are on?
Avatar f tn ), but usually with supportive care (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) and secondary prevention with antiplatelet drugs (aspirin and often dipyridamole), blood pressure control, statins and anticoagulation (in selected patients). you could further information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroke. Hope you find this information helpful.
Avatar n tn ECG last month showed SVES, RBBB. This week he has stress test with dipyridamole protocol, and injection of thallium-201. The result showed "evidence of mild, small to medium size, irreversible perfusion defect in the inferior/inferolateral wall (mid to basal level)." Could you explain what this means? Does he need to have surgery or pacemaker? thanks in advance for your help.
Avatar n tn I have read that Ginkobiloba and Gotu Kola are contraindicated to people with any kind of liver disease. I'll try to find the link to it.
Avatar n tn False negative imaging is especially common when exercise is submaximal or in dipyridamole/adenosine studies of patients with severe obstructions of all three major coronary vessels. False positive scanning may be caused by signal attenuation from an elevated left hemidiaphragm or from breast tissue. These artifactual defects can be identified by performing a gated perfusion study to assess regional wall motion.
Avatar m tn Pharmacological stress Tc-99m MIBI scan was performed with Dipyridamole given at arate of 0.14 mg/Kg/min over 4 minutes followed by injection of radio tracer 6 minutes later. Findings are: Peak stress images revealed hypoperfused infero-septal and apical segment, which showed reversal at rest. Impression: Findings are consistent with infero-septal and apical reversible ischemia. Thanks all!
Avatar m tn You should consult with your doctor before taking any medicaiton, but there is information that aspirin and In combination with omega-3 fatty acids could be helpful in the treatment of some forms of coronary artery disease. Again consult your doctor about whether this combination would be appropriate for you.

Avatar n tn In addition, I now follow the recently revised American Diabetes Association guidelines for aspirin use in people with diabetes. Whereas the ADA used to recommend low-dose aspirin for every diabetic patient over the age of 40, their new guidelines suggest aspirin as a prevention strategy only in those with diabetes whose cardiovascular risk is above average. This includes men over age 50 or women over age 60 with at least one additional major risk factor.
Avatar m tn The doc has your best interest at heart and you can now buy aspirin with little hearts on the front of the packaging telling that it is exactly what its meant for. How easy is that? Pro athletes take them among millions of other people why not take something that is a preventative???? Good luck and happy new year......
Avatar f tn I've had three miscarriages and my doctor prescribed me baby aspirin (same as low dose aspirin) right after the last one. I am now 6 months pregnant & have been taking 1 pill everyday along with my prenatal vitamins since last January. You can ask your doctor about it & see what they say.
Avatar n tn Many pregnant women take baby aspirin while pregnant, some to prevent miscarriage due to blood clotting disorders. Medication is permitted when the benefits outweigh the risks. If it is helping keep you alive then by all means do NOT stop taking it. Definitely speak with your doctor about your concerns. I'm sure they'll reassure you that it is absolutely fine.
Avatar m tn The usual regimen after a DES (drug eluding stent) is one year on plavix to help prevent blood clots with aspirin and after one year continue with just aspirin (87 mg). However, pooled data from randomized trials show that coumadin reduces the risk of stroke from 4.5 percent to 1.4 percent per year in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and no history of stroke or transient ischemic attack.
Avatar f tn I was told to take a baby aspirin with this pregnancy helps to prevent eclamosia and my high blood pressure but its no more than eighty one mg a day
