He has had a very onset of vertigo in the past two days - which is severe when he first gets out of bed and resolves to a light-headed feeling later as the day progresses. He has had recent cardiac catherization and stents implanted - this was the first part of March. The cardiologist put him on new drugs then and he initially had no problems. Now six weeks later he is having this problem with vertigo.

I was on Diovan for over 6years - I did some reserch on the medication, and found side effects were as : blurring vision - lazy eye lids- effects nerve in eyes. with long term use be it known, I went to my eye doctor (yearly visit) he found after testing, I had slight left eye signs of early Glaucoma. he than asked me what b.p meds am I useing daily? I told him, and he said - Point blank get off the Diovan ! it can cause Glaucoma.

These scans will give a good imaging of the vessels in the head/brain. Any history of stroke/TIAs in your family? Are taking anything for the elevated cholesterol? Is the Diovan 80 mg daily? Lastly, start tracking these episodes.

Chest pain is not a known side-effect of diovan/hctz. Given the fact that he had a recent bypass I would urge you to take him to the ER ASAP.

My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?

the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together. I was monitoring my blood pressure and it was in the 130-140/80's and I thought I was OK without the medication. Suddenly, about a month later, at work, I started feeling pressure in the back of my head and my pressure was going up until it got to 160/100. I had a panic attack and I called 911.

m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

I am in permanent AFib, so it is easy for me to catch my BP when in AFib. I have a history of good (low) BP, and since the onset of AFib and the ingestion of beta blockers (up to 200 mg of Metoprolol a day) my BP tends to be on the low side. When I first went to 200 mg of the BB my BP went too low, i.e., some dizziness. I may have missed your points, but can say my experience is, AFib doesn't cause high BP.

Both Diovan and Metopropolol can elevate liver enyzmes. The normal range for AST=SGOT, ALT=SGPT are 10 - 42. This is the range my doctor uses. Your just barely above the high end normal number. This is most likely due to your medicine, I would not be concerned with this small elevation. Just make sure you have liver test done periodically, to monitor any changes.

Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Hi Trucker, There are natural ways out of both of your problems, just googel natural ways out of high blood pressure, and natural ways to get cholestrol down, once your free of these druge your ED should go naturaly and you the should be back to normal.

If it goes away and you are able to fall back to sleep with out getting out of bed and walking around (because of shortness of breath) it is probably not a problem. A heart monitor will probably answer the question.

? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Now all of a sudden my blood pressure was down to 85-90/50 with a pulse of 50'ish, i was dizzy and felt weak. I dropped my diovan to 160 and dilitiazem to 120, but my pressure is still running about 95/55 w/a 60 pulse. I feel my blood pulsing? thru my body, and am sweaty. Whats up???
