diovan

Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar n tn ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I am about 20 kgs overweight. I walk every day and when in a good routine 8 kms a day, up and down hills through fields etc.
Avatar n tn I take the same ACE inhibitor for hpb. I was concerned my bp was too high and probably needed another adjustment to the dosage. I was told to wait 2 more weeks to evaluate...it appears the dosage is all right but there are wide variations!! I home monitor a few times a day, but can't find a consistency for a specific time interval, etc. The range can be 90/60 to 149/80.
369861 tn?1306275686 I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist prior to this. I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests.
Avatar f tn All seem to be symptome of hypothyroidism, yet my endo will not even try a low dose synthroid. I am taking Diovan HCT and the few things I have read, say it can skew the results. I am at my wits end in trying to feel better. I know it is my thyroid, but cannot get doc's to listen. Any advice?
544430 tn?1283712658 Is Ramipril an ace inhibitor? If so then it's the ace inhibitor. I'm on an ace inhibitor too and I have the cough, BUT I think the cough is better to have than the high blood pressure, BUT only if the cough isn't too much of a bother and doesn't keep you awake at night.
1260320 tn?1270394906 I have tried numerous - norvasc, coversyl, enalapril, atenolol, diovan, propranolol n god knows what else. Out of all these, I have actually found one that suits me - nif-ten (a combination of nifedipine & atenolol). Unfortunately, it has a side effect of causing gum disease/periodontal. I am looking out for other meds to replace this.
Avatar n tn I am taking both Beta Blocker and ACE inhibitor, should both be taken in the morning?
Avatar m tn My Blood potassium level at the time was perfectly normal at 3.6; after the spike in the ace-inhibitor my potassium level has risen in two months to 5.6, which I believe is an unsafe level. My family doctor has now asked me to go back to the 2.5 mg dosage and get re-tested after two weeks. I have read that ace-inhibitors can cause an increase in potassium levels. Any comments? Are there alternatives to ace inhibitors?
Avatar m tn The only thing the ct showed was a hemangioma on my L2 vertebrae. I am on diovan hct for blood pressure and simvastatin for cholesterol. My vision has even changed a little bit in my right eye. What can be causing these weird spasms and are they dangerous?
Avatar m tn I perceive that if you are taking an ace inhibitor & then add a diuretic you would have to reduce the ace inhibitor dose to offset the diuretic as the heart would have to beat faster due to the dilation and less fluid. Would this combination cause tachycardia and how should the dose be regulated?
Avatar f tn Reduce cardiac workload...I take an ACE inhibitor and a beta blocker (coreg) to reduce the heart's workload. The ACE inhibitor dilates vessels, etc. and most beta blockers slows and stabilizes the heart rate, but Coreg is not just a beta blocker, it also has some ACE inhibitor characteristics as well.. Doesn't the AICD control the heart rate and negate that aspect of Coreg?
Avatar n tn I would also add that a few weeks before the tingling began I started taking an ACE inhibitor for a mild case of high blood pressure and the dosage was doubled just days before the tingling started.

Avatar n tn An ACE inhibitor dilates vessels. A dilated vessel offers less resistance and as a result blood pressure in lowered. The timing of the effects may be of less help at intervals you describe. Also, dosage may inadequate.
Avatar m tn A beta blocker is primarily a medication for controlling heart rate. An ACE inhibitor is the most oftened prescribed medication for high blood pressure. If an ACE inhibitor has not provided relief or there are a lack of tolerance, then a calcium channel blocker. Consult with your doctor. Thanks for the question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar n tn my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd. Is there another medication that I can discuss with my cardiologist to replace the cardizem cd that will keep my heart rate in the normal range? I feel I've got to withdraw from the cardizem as the side effects seem to be progressing the longer I use the medication.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril is a medicine in the pharmaceutical class called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. ACE inhibitor medicines have as one of their adverse side effects, the ability to cause cough in an individual who has not previously had a cough; a cough that persists as long as the medicine is taken. You should share this occurrence with your doctor and he/she will probably want to prescribe another blood pressure medicine, not in the ACE inhibitor class.
Avatar m tn They currently put me on ACE inhibitor and beta blocker for my hypertension.
Avatar n tn The only reason to not use an ACE inhibitor is if you have a cough with the ACE inhibitor or if you like to give pharmaceutical companies lots of extra money so they can pay their CEO's. If it stays up, you probably need more blood pressure medications. I hope this helps.
907812 tn?1245739802 Looking back, I think it may have been caused by taking the inappropriate BP medication. Somehow, my PCP was stuck in ace inhibitor land, which may be an excellent BP pill but didn't do the trick for me during tx, even though we gradually quadrupled the dose. The ace inhibitor couldn't bring down my isolated diastolic (resting number) no matter what. My pulse rate slowed down within two days of stopping the riba and I'm gradually reducing the ace inhibitor.
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor to add HCT, however, because I developed a rash from taking a sulfa antiobiotic 10 years ago, he doesn't want to take the chance. So he put me back on Lotrel along with the Valturna. He said as my BP comes down, he'll adjust the meds. My questions are: (1) I've read that having a rash deveop from a sulfa antiobiotic doesn't necessary mean I'll have an allergic reaction to HCT. Is it safe to try the diuretic to see what happens?
Avatar f tn I have been taking lisinopril for about 7 years without any notable side effects. There are different mechanism that can reduce high blood pressure. Lisinopril blocks angiotensin and angiotensin constricts vessels and when angiotensin is controlled blood vessels relax and as a result better blood flow. However, scientists also believe that the angiotensin-converting enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of other substances in the lungs.
Avatar m tn I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
Avatar f tn Recently started Symbicort inhaler and systemic blood pressure went up 180/108 and was wondering if the med would be likely to raise pulmonary pressure as well. Doctor added HCT to already prescribed Diovan which seems to be working but am on low dose of Symbicort and may have to increase it.
Avatar n tn Dr that did heart cath wanted me to start Linsopril ace inhibitor but several years ago I tried accupril and had partial swellin on my face so I was afraid to try another ace inhibitor but now I wonder if I should have. The cardiologist I first saw put me on Atenolol, Isosorbide and nitroquick. I was using between 4 and up to 10 nitros a day with these other meds so he added Ranexa. I worry because I have family history of cancer and I have a fatty liver.
