Avatar m tn I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
Avatar m tn (1) My blood pressure has been dropping as I lose weight through exercise and diet; I've lost 12 pounds and my bp has dropped from 148/98 to 135/88. I am also taking Diovan though hope to be off it as I continue to lose weight. (2) I don't smoke and rarely drink. (3) I did have a stress test a year or two ago that turned up nothing significant. Any further testing I should consider? (4)I have spoken with my family doctor, but other than the stress test, she suggested nothing else.
343006 tn?1314446471 My report says I had a blunted HR because of medication. I was able to complete the test, exercise as I would normally exercise, but my HR would not increase past 110 or 120. I remember being told that the BB was doing its job..keeping my HR down Now, I'm on an ACEI and now when I have a stress test, my HR increases as you would expect (180's). Are you limited to taking CCB's for the HTN?
Avatar m tn I am not overweight and would consider myself to be above average in terms of exercise weekly. I started Diovan over 10 years ago as my blood pressure was borderline high. Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue.
Avatar f tn Google Bruce Protocol for what is done with an exercise stress test. That, perhaps, is a big difference between you exercise regimen of 1.5 miles unless you walk up hills that increase in altitude quickly. It's possible that your left ventricle is enlarged, and that is why the doctor prescribed troprol. If it is enlarged, it's an indication of impaired heart health, not necessarily a condition that requires hospitalization. However, it certainly indicates a need for more study.
Avatar f tn my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?
1346429 tn?1303874854 The aldomet is to lower my blood pressure, I was taking Diovan before I got pregnant, but the switched my medication because Diovan kills the fetus or causes serious birth defects.

Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar n tn ve been hypertensive for 10+ years but have been treating it with meds and diet since diagnosis in my mid-20s. I take diovan and HCTZ (40mgs and 12.5mgs respectively). My resting pulse rate is usually 60-70. I probably get about 2 or 3 PVCs per hour and have had an echo test, stress test, halter monitor, etc, and have been cleared as healthy and fine by my doc. I am learning to live with this, but what alarms me is that the PVCs increase with exercise.
Avatar f tn since then I have been to a Chiropractor, had needle stuck in my back, had an x ray, a CT scan, an MRI, done almost 3 months of Physical therapy with every exercise for the Piraformis muscle, had branch block twice, nerve burning once, cortisone shot in the SI joint once, more exercises. medication to relax the muscles. medication for inflamation. Nothing helped except for 1 week when I had the first branch block injection.
Avatar m tn I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.

Avatar n tn Am a 64 yr old white female with heart disease in family (Don't smoke, don't drink, bu am overweight, do not have diabetis). One month ago had an MI. Two arteries blocked, one 90% which was stented, one 70% which was not. Was told 70% could be controled with rx's On plavax, baby asperin, Diovan and Metpropolol ex. Feel no particular pain at this point, but also feel I am walking around with a time bomb. Artery in question is very small located on the back of my heart.
378273 tn?1262097621 I posted earlier about a fainting episode I had after being in Afibs during the night. Have seen my internist and don't have blood results yet. He thinks it was due to dehydration or maybe low blood pressure (although my BP is usually high and I'm on Diovan and Metroprolol (for the Afibs) I think perhaps Diovan & Metropropol in combination is too much and making my BP drop. What do you guys think? In any case, I just had an episode of extreme slowing of my heart beat.
Avatar f tn m wondering as I went to a chiropractor and they took it twice. It was 105 then 107. I am 51 yr old post menopausal female. I am on diovan 80 mg. ,paxil 20 mg and valium 5 mg as needed. I also have always been anxious and hyper. Definitely don't exercise enough. Is this cause for concern? I do not have insurance until Oct. when Medicare kicks in. Almost all of my relatives on both sides have lived well into or past 80's except 1 grandfather. Thank you for your reply.

Avatar m tn My blood pressure when last tested was 116/86 while taking diovan HCTZ. I weigh 205 lbs and I have begun exercise regularly and when I do so my heart rate gets as high as 165. How big a concern is this fast pulse? Will continued exrcise help me to lower my heart rate? What else can I do?
378273 tn?1262097621 I am 73 and take Warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I also had a hip fracture nine months ago. I also take a blood pressure medication, Diovan, and Metopropolol 25 mg. Would any of these drugs cause the elevation in liver enzymes?
