Diovan and exercise

Common Questions and Answers about Diovan and exercise

diovan

Avatar f tn I had taken Toprolol when much younger and in normal sinus rhythm (then it too was 50mg SR) and it had no side effects that I can recall, I was still running for exercise. You might want to discuss using a calcium channel blocker to lower blood pressure. In all my comments are made with no knowledge of "diovan" and its side-effects. Good luck in finding a way to keep the BP normal, that is an important issue.
1346429 tn?1303874854 The doc did regular blood tests for most and since changing a lot of things as far as food and exercise we found I did not need most of them. He took me off the others because they are harmful to the baby during pregnancy and said that if any problems arise he will put me on something safer but most of the safer meds are only safe after the first trimester. Every time I have been pregnant though they always take me off my metaformin and put me on insulin saying it is safer for the baby.
Avatar n tn ve been hypertensive for 10+ years but have been treating it with meds and diet since diagnosis in my mid-20s. I take diovan and HCTZ (40mgs and 12.5mgs respectively). My resting pulse rate is usually 60-70. I probably get about 2 or 3 PVCs per hour and have had an echo test, stress test, halter monitor, etc, and have been cleared as healthy and fine by my doc. I am learning to live with this, but what alarms me is that the PVCs increase with exercise.
343006 tn?1314446471 I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.

Avatar m tn (1) My blood pressure has been dropping as I lose weight through exercise and diet; I've lost 12 pounds and my bp has dropped from 148/98 to 135/88. I am also taking Diovan though hope to be off it as I continue to lose weight. (2) I don't smoke and rarely drink. (3) I did have a stress test a year or two ago that turned up nothing significant. Any further testing I should consider? (4)I have spoken with my family doctor, but other than the stress test, she suggested nothing else.
Avatar m tn I am not overweight and would consider myself to be above average in terms of exercise weekly. I started Diovan over 10 years ago as my blood pressure was borderline high. Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue.
Avatar f tn overweight and have type 2 diabetes. I take metformin, janumet, caduet and until yesterday diovan. During a stress test yesterday my systolic bp rose to 260 in a very short time (diastolic was elevated but not so greatly). When my BP has been taken several times throughout the year at rest it has been 120/80 (ish). I am not very active but do walk 1-1/2 miles a day at a moderate rate. The cardiologist took me off of diovan and told me to begin 100 mg toprolol (sp?) immediately.
Avatar n tn I have fairly consistent AFib and am an extremely active cyclist, xc skier and hiker (68 years old-AFib for about 10 years). I am on Tikosyn, Diovan, Coumadin, and Diltiazem. Will a two-lead Pacemaker have any effect on my activity levels? How will the Pacemaker affect the AFib? I barely notice the AFib when exercising, but a try on a beta blocker kept my heartrate so low I couldn't ride my bike. Is there any advantage to getting the Pacemaker now vs waiting?
Avatar m tn I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?
Avatar f tn s on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
Avatar m tn 3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg. Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?
Avatar f tn I have been a T2 diabetic for 9 years. diagnosed in Colorado. Through diet and exercise I became totally controlled, BG before eating 74 to 90 and after eating , never above 180 My Dr said" If he didn't know I was a diabetic he would swear I wasn't" I moved to a different state, New Dr. He told me ( after Blood work) That I wasn't a diabetic and never had been. I argued with him , told him what my Dr in Co. had said... He insisted I wasn't a diabetic....

Avatar f tn Diovan can rarely cause muscle breakdown and associated muscle pain and cramps and it is advised to consult your doctor to rule out the possibility as a cause. Diovan also causes increased level of potassium. Both increased and decreased levels of potassium have been linked to muscle weakness. Also, though leg pain can be caused by depletion of potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium etc.
Avatar m tn Part 1: I am a 54 year old male. I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
Avatar n tn In general mild blockages are not stented but are treated with medication which with diet, exercise and medication and risk factor modification can prevent coronary artery progression.
Avatar n tn Am a 64 yr old white female with heart disease in family (Don't smoke, don't drink, bu am overweight, do not have diabetis). One month ago had an MI. Two arteries blocked, one 90% which was stented, one 70% which was not. Was told 70% could be controled with rx's On plavax, baby asperin, Diovan and Metpropolol ex. Feel no particular pain at this point, but also feel I am walking around with a time bomb. Artery in question is very small located on the back of my heart.
378273 tn?1262097621 I posted earlier about a fainting episode I had after being in Afibs during the night. Have seen my internist and don't have blood results yet. He thinks it was due to dehydration or maybe low blood pressure (although my BP is usually high and I'm on Diovan and Metroprolol (for the Afibs) I think perhaps Diovan & Metropropol in combination is too much and making my BP drop. What do you guys think? In any case, I just had an episode of extreme slowing of my heart beat.
