Be careful taking diltiazem (lisinopril). I was on it for medium high blood pressure for 5 years and finally stopped taking it because it had caused deep depression, not to feelings of suicide though. It seemed to build up, so be on the lookout for feelings of not caring and hopelessness. Now I'm on Verapamil and am doing OK except for the ankle swelling. Tried another CB'er (Cartia XT or Cardizem) and had the same edema effect.

So Cartia XT is the name brand for time release Diltiazem. This is a pretty potent vasodialator so it is very effective in lowering blood pressure by relaxing the arteries, and slowing the heart rate It has a very short half life, so unless you're taking large amounts, it's hard to acquire a buildup.

Hi, I have recently been having a problem with sinus tachycardia (elevated heart rate) and I am on medication for it. (cartia xt). My heart rate still tends to be on the high side. I have a wisdom tooth which has cavities in it, and it is hurting me so I am going to my dentist in two days. I am afraid the pain medication the use will raise my heart rate. Should I be worried about this?

Thanks for your reply... No tingling, numbness or weakness, so hopefully, it was nothing. But I will mention it to my doctor. Is aspirin an anticoagulant? If not, I'm not on one. The only thing I take is Cartia XT for angina.

My heart med is cartia XT at 240mg. I took another 120mg about 45minutes ago )(called a pharmisicist).My question is: What do I now.? Wait it out? For how much longer? Any other advice would be helpful. I've only dealt with a long bout of this once but it was over, on its own, in 80min. Most other times have lasted a few minutes.

Again thank you for your reply. The diltiazem XT 180 mg was discontinued about five weeks ago for my Husband and the symptoms continue. Every time he changes position he turn red from head to toe. As a result of this symptom he has shortness of breath, fatigue and a drop in his BP. We have been to many Dr's with out a Dx. We are waiting for results of urine studies from the Endocrinologist.

m 49, female, relatively normal BP (occasional spikes of 180/92ish), have occasional angina, and am on Cartia XT for it. Could this be something with my eye? It only occurred once. Thank you.

OK...so it's been almost 3 weeks on Toprol XL (25mg) and I CAN'T BREATH! I have asthma already and absolutely cannot breath, which I now find out can be a side effect of Toprol. I literally can't walk 50 feet without having to rest and heave and ho and huff and puff on an inhaler to breath. While the Toprol is pretty much controlling my blood pressure, it does not last the full 24 hours.

I have taken name brand Cardizem CD for years along with 3 other bp meds. The pharmacys here can't get the name brand Cardizem for some reason now so switched me to Cartia XT. I started this today early morning like I took the name brand. That was at 5;30 a.m. At 11 a.m. I took my bp and HR as I do daily. Its consistently around 110/70 with HR in upper 40s to low 50s. Never gets above 70 as EP wants it this way due to an autonomic dysfunction. It was 145/92 HR 64.

I have been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. I was on diltiazem xt 120mg. I stopped taking the medicine 12 days ago could it still be in my system and be causing slow heart rate 40-45 during th day.

Hi - I'm a female, 49 years old. Chest pains started last spring, when I was under a lot of stress at work. They were just occasional bouts of chest pressure occurring when I was stressed. EKG, Nuclear Stress Test and Echocardiogram performed last summer revealed nothing significant. In general,it occurs several times a week, mostly during the day. Most often it's just pressure and usually when I'm not active or obviously stressed (just sitting at my desk at work).

Spotting is normal during pregnancy and if it's brown then that's also a good sign, if it's bright red then that's more of a worry but Brown is old blood

Brown discharge isn't very good.. You might want to call your Dr right away.. And if it starts to get worse like.. When you whip is there more the before..

Hi, I am 3 months Pregnant, Now doctor advice me to take tab of folic acid and calicium. Doctor presicribed The tab shelcal xt and Cap primagest 2D. Is it right medicine. I am confused because both medicine have calicium.

Me and my daughter just started doing TAPOUT XT exercise. I do drink alot of water. But when ever I get stresses out I just feel like eating. I'ts a terrible feeling and I hate it. s Physician Assistant (PA) concerning my change about 3 weeks ago from 100 (or more) Metoprolol a day to taking 50 mg Metoprolol and 240 mg Diltiazem XR (Diltia XT) a day. The former is Beta Blocker (BB) and the latter a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB). Both are long/extended/slow (whatever) release and are often prescribed for taking once every 24 hours.

Hello so I am a 27 year old male, 5'8, 200 Lbs. I got a loop recorder (Reveal XT by Medtronic) Implanted almost 2 years ago to monitor my palpitations and fast heart rates that I would get. So far officially I have only been diagnosed with Sinus Arrhythmia aka Tachycardia & Bradycardia, and frequent PVC's.

If the eyes are straight some of the time (which if intermittent XT would be the case) then eye muscle surgery, often recession of both lateral rectus muscles can be helpful. there care be risks of post surgery double vision and the -17 eye has very thin sclera and great care has to be taken reattaching the eye muscle.

What I am now most concerned with is my blood pressure, I am currently prescribed cartia XT 180 mg for high blood pressure. I always assumed the high blood pressure was brought on by the vics. I was initially prescribed the cartia for occassional super ventricular tachacardia (heart racing). I have read several posts where people warn of heart palps. Is this to be expected? Tried cardioversion but did not work--was told only a 30% chance of success. Am on lisinopril for blood pressure-- for a fib--digoxin, tatzia xt and xarelto as blood thinner. Cardiologist said were other meds he could give me but side effects outweighed benefits and would not change meds unless had no other choice. I have a fib daily but not as strong as when started.
