Back in February I was put on Diltiazem 120 ER (extended release) and only had to take it once a day. Compared to the Verapamil (also a CCB) that I had to try years ago and I ended up in the ER, the Diltiazem was a dream to take. I had some fatigue, was a bit slow mentally. The hardest part was the nasty headaches I got during the first week or so. They would hit a couple hours after I took the pill then go away. I solved that problem by taking it at bedtime.

Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap. But now I, in addition to having this happen again, I am incredibly anxious about whether Medicaid covers this procedure. I can't find ANY information anywhere.

BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue.The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).

I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.

Can Diltiazem 24HR ER 180mg Caps one taken daily cause sleepiness and fatigue during the day?

I had a brief bout of A-Fib, and the ER put me on 15mg Diltiazem every 6 hrs. My physician a couple of days later bumped that up to 30mg/6hrs. Around a week into taking the drug, I lost most of the sense of taste; sweet, sour, salt. Initially I just had a tiny sense of "savory" as the only thing I could taste. I began to not be able to eat, because everything made me sick to my stomach. I read in the Diltiazem side-effects that this is called "taste perversion".

Hi, I'm a 33 year old male, not overweight, not diabetic, I've been dealing with tachycardia for some time now. It comes and goes. I found that 50mg of Metoprolol twice a day would mostly control it, but as a 33 year old man, I began to notice major erection issues since being on it. Talked to my doctor, they want me to start 120mg a day of Diltiazem. I'm a little nervous about it, but they assured me it's no more potent a medication.

Have a bad headache and no pain meds at home. Have a little of the Buprenorphine hcl left from when my cat was neutered. It was given to him orally at a dose of 0.3cc. I looked it up and it looks like a "human" drug also, but am wondering if I am able to take this. I do hae a little chronic bronchitis, but not full blown copd i don't think. What do you think? Could I take this. Should I add to water or put under my tongue,.

Abt 2 months ago cardio doc increased diltiazem to 240mg ER from 120 mg,(for irregular heartbeat) added xarelto 15mg as I had an episode of heart arrythmmia and palpitations. I am also on pravastatin 20 mg. I find diltiazem/xarelto interaction in only one place. Abt 10 days ago, started having diarrhea or several loose bm's per day. If this continues should I call the cardio doc re this problem or go see gastro doc?. I have had pancreatitis in past so have a gastro doc.

My doctor put me on Diltiazem 24 hr. ER 180 mg. It seems that the chest pains are less frequent, but I still get the tight in the chest and breathing issues I had on the beta blocker. Do calcium channel blockers cause lung thightness? My BP was still around 130/90 2 weeks into the Diltiazem. We are checking again when I finish the bottle. Meanwhile, lots of aches and flue like sypmtoms. I always feel sick and tired. I sleep 9 hours a night, but wake up with anxiety attacks around midnight.

I hav taken Effexor Hcl 150 mg generic called Venlafaxine HCL ER Capsules 150mg, for years. A new doc wrote for the same medication in tablet form by mistake instead of the caps. Will it work the same for me?

til Monday unless I end up in ER again cuz Im still not feeling well. Still feeling weak, etc. When I went to ER a few days ago he mentioned it could still be my thyroid but I guess they didnt check it becuz he just said everything came back ok so Im assuming they just did regular blood work. If he thought it was thyroid related I would have thought they would have checked it! I may end up going in to a different ER and get a second opinion and see what they will do.

was doing some reading and it seems the dol hcl is like the hydrocodone and the regular dol is like ultram--- however the ultram er is totally different than the regular ultram??? anyone know the diff on these nightmares??

I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.

The episodes are getting more frequent in recent years, a couple of times each year. The episodes are long and I have to go ER to terminate it by IV medicine each time. My heart rate is also very fast, around 200 b per min, even more. The situation is getting worse this year. I had four episodes already this year even I took medicine Diltiazem (180 mg) everyday. The good thing is I can terminate it by taking extra Diltiazem (250 mg) and lay down for 30 mins.

I just started taking Diltiazem for my PSVT rapid heart beat. It is a little early to know if it is doing any good, although I had an episode after starting. What has been your experience with this drug as a treatment for PSVT (my blood pressure is normal)? What other drugs worked better for you? [I am a 76 year old male in otherwise good health.

Ok I have been on metformin hcl ER 500 mg once at night. It has been almost two weeks since I started the medication.....for the past couple of days I noticed something in my bowel movement.....its in my morning stool it looks kinda orangish an kinda like a small carrot that has white stuff in the middle. I know this is totally disgusting but I need some advice! Could it be the metformin being released in my stool?? If so, does that mean I'm not getting my medication like I should??

The third atrial fib was last Friday night. The doctor in the ER put me on Cardizem (diltiazem) and changed my simvastatin to Lipitor. They instructed me to cut back on the metropolol to 25 mg. twice daily and to quit taking it if my blood pressure dipped below systolic fell below 100 or my diastolic below 60. My question is how to I gradually stop the metaprolol? I read that I should wean myself off of it in a week or two but no one seems to know how to go about it.

Looking to safely taper off of my calcium channel blocker diltiazem extended release capsules. I have been on them a little over one year. My blood pressure is perfect and was perfect prior to my heart surgery. The only reason I am on them is because I had a large tumor in my heart and once I had my open heart surgery I developed post-op SVT, afib, a-flutter and my heart rate has skyrocketed over 200 beats per minute several times.

These happen at least 4 times a day.
