Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
t done this for 3 years) My EP has instructed me if it goes over 70 resting to call him so I did. They told me the generic is the same as name brand and wouldn't cause this and to drink more fluids today. My HR came down to 58 this afternoon more my normal. Tonight I took bp it was 163/94 HR 67. My question is Has anyone had this happen by switching to the generic bp med? I am also on vasotec,metoprol, and micardis. Sorry this is so long.
I am on another brand/generic calcium channel blocker - Diz..don't recall, but I can check. I take what I think is the maximum does and had some of the symptoms you mention, but none real bad and my body has adjusted.
Swelling of ankles was the the side-effect I most noticed, as did my wife. But it was not noticeable when dressed (a man) and I didn't have trouble putting on my shoes. I discussed with my cardiologist and he recommended I give it more time.
I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.

Cardizem (aka Diltiazem) is a calcium channel blocker, good for high BP, angina and some arrhythmia problems. I take it and it does a decent job of controlling my atrial tachy and chest pains. Also helpful for people with Raynauds.
Best thing is to google the name of the medication and you'll find out all kinds of info: how it's used, side effects, etc.
Yes it's totally legal. If you want more information there's a guy on the internet who outlines the process, whether you travel abroad or order online. He actually wrote a book and started a blog on it. He also started a buyer's club but no need to go that route. His name is Greg Jefferys, google his name for more information.
BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue.The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
I don't know the official name. I call mine "wacky tachy." It goes tachy, tries to kick back to a normal rhythm only to go tachy again. Over and over. Doesn't feel very good but it happens. When it goes on like that for awhile, all you can do is sit it out. Even if you have a heart med (I have Diltiazem handy), the episode is over before a med can even dissolve and circulate through the body. A friend of mine has a-fib episodes that last several hours.
My question concerns Synthroid.

ve taken, both, generic levothyroxine (T4) and liothyronine (T3), as well, as brand name Synthroid and Cytomel. I did better on on generic levo than I did on Synthyroid...
I've been taking generic liothyronine for over 5 yrs and have done just as well as I did on Cytomel.
I don't think you'll have any difficulty, with generic T3, but if you do, you can always go back to Cytomel.
I take synthroid and was wondering if the generic is just as good? Someone told me to never take the generic so I pay extra for the name brand. TIA!
ve been taking the generic for about a week until my new prescription for the brand name arrives. I have had diarrhea for two days. The only thing I've done differently is take the generic drug. Do you think this would be causing the diarrhea? If so should I just not take the medication until the correct prescription arrives?
If you are required to take the generic, find a generic that will work for you. The name of the lab is always on the bottle. And be SURE each time your scrip is filled that the same lab produced it.
Everyone says negative things about generics. And sometimes it is warranted. But not always. For instance the generic of claritin and some heart and blood pressure drugs makes them affordable and they work fine. My husband gets generics of a lot of his meds and he does very well.
can anyone explain the difference between the brand name Lexapro and the generic brand? i was reading your posts. my boyfriend was on the brand name lexapro and switched to the chemical brand in June. since then he has been spriraling downhill, out of control is there that much of a difference in brand name and off brand?
