Diltiazem for hemorrhoids

Common Questions and Answers about Diltiazem for hemorrhoids

tiazac

177337 tn?1310059899 I have Diltiazem for that reason. When I'm having a bratty heart day with lots of tachy and chest pain, I use one of those to calm things down. It's not quick like taking an aspirin for a headache but it does help. The only down side is Diltiazem gives me a wicked headache. If I took it every day like I used to, that side effect would wear off in a couple of weeks. Still, I'd rather just take it when I have to and deal with the headache. At least it calms my heart.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar m tn My heart rate was the only reason my doctor gave me for taking the diltiazem. After an ECG, was diagnosed with MVP, this diagnosis was given more than a month after the ER visit and I was already on the DIltiazen, but I just recently read that Diltiazem was a treatment used for MVP and arrythmia. THAT connection was never made even though we talked about it, independent of the rapid heart rate. .Did I misinterpret what I read? I stopped taking the DIltiazem because I had a low to normal rate.
1622431 tn?1299070442 taking Diltiazem for 2 months , treating PACs and SVT episodes. Could not tolerate Beta Blockers. Diltiazem tries its best with SVT, shortens them , but my PACs increased the past two days , every second heart beat is double . Could not tolerate , went to Hospital, they advised to take metoprolol to break the PACs cycle.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
Avatar n tn When I first started Diltiazem I had a powerful throbbing headache for a few weeks. It gradually tapered off. I was a bit tired too. After I'd been on it for a few months my BP would have low times (systolic in the 90's). I was a slug when my bp dropped that low. But thank goodness it wasn't that low all the time. It sure helped with the tachy times and chest pain though.
Avatar m tn I can usually control my PACs/PVCs through diet but when I stray and they flare up, calcium channel blockers (diltiazem) work like a charm. It makes them completely go away until it wears off which is about 24 hours (extended release 240), Just curious if anyone knows why doctors do not prescribe these to more patients for PAC/PVC because they seem to work.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have an anal fissure.I suffered from anal fissure last year and it took a while for it to heal.First off you need to get a stool softener, docusate sodium or Miralax are the best stool softeners to use.Take sitz bath twice a day especially after bm so you can relax your sphincter help promote blood flow so it can heal.Your going to need to go on a high fiber diet and you need to get about 30 grams of fiber per day.
Avatar f tn Hello, Treatment for hemorrhoids would depend on the kind and severity of one’s symptoms. If the hemorrhoids are still small and do not cause any problems, oral medications and an ointment applied on them would be helpful. Having a high fiber diet and increasing water intake would also help. However, if the hemorrhoids are already thrombosed, resulting in bleeding, enlargement, pain, and difficulty in moving the bowels, surgical excision would be the best treatment.
Avatar n tn t get any responses here, but from googling around on the web I came to the conclusion that diltiazem, a calcium channel blocker, would be better for an athlete than atenolol, a beta blocker. So I called the doctor who agreed to change my medication. Yesterday on the treadmill, after having only taken one 25mg dose of atenolol my heart rate only showed a bit over 120 when I was doing a pace for which a 140 should have been called for.
Avatar f tn I had been taking it for 6 months. Not for chest pain but for Raynaud syndrome. I have been off for 12 days. I am a little light headed. The Dr says its sick sinus syndrome and I am scheduled for a pacemaker tomorrow. I am last minute looking for anything else this can be maybe causing a temporary slow heat rate. It was only detected 4 weeks ago.
Avatar f tn m a female, but I can share my experience switching from a beta blocker to diltiazem. I have been taking beta blockers for 8 years for SVT and afib. I had an episode of afib and was in the hospital is Sept. They took me off the beta blocker and put me on diltiazem. It didn't control my heart rate like the beta blocker. My resting heart rate went from upper 60s to the low 80s. After a few days without my beta blocker, I ended up in the ER, in sinus tachycardia with a rate of about 120.
996946 tn?1503249112 How are you? I took Diltiazem too. Not good for me either.
Avatar f tn I had afib for a decade and have taken diltiazem and flecainide over that period with pretty good control of symptoms. But now daily pvcs for past 6 weeks, almost always at night. Monitoring with Kardia device. Curious if others have experienced similar association of arrythmias?
Avatar f tn If one never had swollen gums after taking Diltiazem Hydrochloride Extended-release Capsules USP for years and then suddenly has swollen gums (no redness or infection) could the Diltiazem suddenly cause this after getting a "deep cleaning" of the teeth, or 'probing for pocket depths' at a dentist?
Avatar m tn I had a brief bout of A-Fib, and the ER put me on 15mg Diltiazem every 6 hrs. My physician a couple of days later bumped that up to 30mg/6hrs. Around a week into taking the drug, I lost most of the sense of taste; sweet, sour, salt. Initially I just had a tiny sense of "savory" as the only thing I could taste. I began to not be able to eat, because everything made me sick to my stomach. I read in the Diltiazem side-effects that this is called "taste perversion".
Avatar m tn I take Metoprolol for a thick heart muscel & pvc, which it doesn't help much with the pvc's, Diltiazem was just added 120mg once a day. My doctor seemed somewhat reluctant to add the Diltiazem but said lets try it. My Blood pressure has been around 155/95. His reluctance just seems to scare me. Should I try it or should I not? If I do start taking it should I take it with the metoprolol or at different times?
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
672586 tn?1280933658 Good Day, I would like to ask how long have u taken both the Metoprolol & Norvasc? I was prescribed by my Internist recently Norvasc 2.5 mg with Metoprolol 25 mg. I used to take Metoprolol with Diltiazem CD 120mg 2X /day for almost 2 months but noticed a "burning chest pain" with Diltiazem that's why I stopped using it. But now I'm afraid to take Norvasc, too.
Avatar n tn Hi Guys...Currently I take 360mg DR of Diltiazem once daily...I worry that since sometimes I forget as to whether I have taken my pill or not due to a fast paced life / career. My question is...If I were to accidentally take a double dose of the stuff would I end up kicking the bucket?
Avatar n tn Here are possible side effects.... http://www.nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pages/MedicineSideEffects.aspx?
Avatar n tn It really depends on what you need. If this has been prescribed for you, and you are uncertain about it, then you can always ask your doctor for more clarification. It really just all depends on your individual circumstances.
1689583 tn?1387752394 It depends on what medication you're taking. I take diltiazem, although I take it for esophageal spasm. I don't have high blood pressure. I had to reduce the dose while in a study for a similar medication (PI). PIs can increase the amount of blood pressure medication in you if you take a calcium channel blocker like diltiazem.
996946 tn?1503249112 He was put on VetMedin, Enalapril, Lassix and Diltiazem. My husband thought he seemed worse lately with coughing constantly, so he stopped the meds for a few days. Now Barney isn't coughing but seems a little unstable on his feet....he's 11 1/2 yrs old. Does anyone have any experience dealing with this? It seems as though no 2 vets can agree on meds either. I don't want to have to put my dog down but I just don't know if he can be helped.
Avatar m tn I was on tiazac 360mg for a couple of years for high blood pressure.I started having palpitations, skipped beats. The longer I was on it the worse it got. It finally got to where I was having some beats so strong and violent.I told my cardiologist and asked to change medication or a lower dose.He told me to go back to my family doctor who prescribed it originally. As it was 6 weeks to see him, I decided to stop the tiazac. After a few days the symptoms went away.
Avatar n tn He also put me on Diltiazem ER, with instructions to take three 30mg diltiazem fast acting, 30 minutes apart for an episode (which I just had this evening).........I add a 7.5 mg Tranxene, and that seems to help end it.......I'm nort an anxious person, but it's my opinion that my brain just automatically goes into that state when my heart is beating that fast and erratic.........
