Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
182884 tn?1259312906 took me off of Atentonol because of the blood pressure problems or the fact that it may make the spasms in my heart worse. Can somone explain this to me?He allso put me on a new med called Diltiazem CD. HCL SR capsule, 180 mg. What can you tell me about this med, and what side effects are most common with it's use? My dr. wouldn't tell me all of it's side effects, acutally none of them, because he said he did not want to scare me?????
672586 tn?1280933658 Make sure you see a dentist at least twice a year and make it known you are on ccb. Side effects can occur in some people where gums are affected, but in my case two of my molars crumbled.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
1106767 tn?1315050974 I have taken it for two months already and the for the first month I didnt get any side effects. But for the second month I had alot of side effects. I was very nauseous and had a stomach ach. also had some digestive problems. And a head ach. I usually had them all at the same time. Luckely they only stayed for a few days. I am on cd 15 now and I believe they ended on cd 11 or 12. I have heard other people have hot flashes. Clomid so far has not worked for me as far as ovulation. So good luck!
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar n tn I'm taking Cardizem and have serious side effects (constipation, ankle swelling, etc.) Is there a comparable drug that does not cause such sever symptoms?
Avatar n tn I took clomid CD5-9 for the first time this month too, and I'm CD12 today. No side effects whatsoever...so far, at least! But I have heard some of the other women on here say they've experienced cramping and hot flashes. I think those are the two most common side effects. Good luck to you!!!
Avatar m tn Any ideas how I can control the A-Fib without all these bad side-effects? Am tempted to dump the Diltiazem and go back to low dose of beta-blocker and hope the nasty side-effects won't be so severe with only 25 mg/day. Feeling like a guinea-pig with an out-of-control heart at this point. Also, is it OK to take 1/2 - 1 mg of Lorazepam during an A-fib episode? It seems to help slow down the racing. Any suggestions/advice very welcome. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was on it for a week but my side effects were not very pleasant, a bit out of the norm. They took me off of it. Now I take Diltiazem (another CCB) without much trouble. A heart rate of 86 at night is still pretty brisk. Mine is normally 60 at rest, in the low 70's when I'm up moving around. And that was before Diltiazem. No, I'm not athletic. I'm an old pudgy lady.
Avatar m tn You would then be taking 220mg of a Beta-Blocker every day. The side effects are not easy to take sometimes, at least in my opinion. I gave up taking it because of those. However, I have been put on Metoprolol ER - 50mg - again four weeks ago and they just don't seem to work. I found out through experimentation years ago that none of the generics worked - it used to be Toprol XL - except when I found them actually made by the original manufacturer and sold as Metoprolol.
Avatar f tn I was just thinking about the pain during labor and im super nervous on what i should do.me and pain dont get along! Are the side effects from a epidural really bad and do it last a lifetime ?
Avatar n tn Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.
Avatar m tn Sounds like the Metoprolol did the job with bad side effects, what does were you taking. The Calcium Channel Blocker should help, but seems it doesn't take care of the high HR. I take both Metoprolol and Diltiazem, 50 mg and 240 mg respectively. They seem to work well together. Maybe you can take a lower dose of Metoprolol along with the Diltiazem, perhaps at a higher dose. Your post implies you nightmares are gone now that you are off of the BB...
768044 tn?1294223436 If so, what calcium channel blocker did you try and did you have any side-effects? Did it help your migraines? I am curious about calcium channel blockers because I have tried antidepressants, anticonvulsants and betablockers already, as well as botox.
Avatar f tn Is there another therapeutic drug with fewer side effects? My loved one is on two drugs, Crestor and Verapamil...but the fatigue is almost debillatating. Help....any thoughts. Any successes out there?
377493 tn?1356502149 I like Clomid so far too. My first month I had a lot of side effects (nausea, bloating, dizziness, tender nipples) starting CD 18 but I'm experiencing no ill side effects this month (I'm now on CD28 of my 2nd month). I do have a rash but nothing a prescription can't clear up. I'm thinking my body just needed to get used to the medicine because my body is not normal.
