Tiazac side effects diltiazem

Common Questions and Answers about Tiazac side effects diltiazem

tiazac

Avatar f tn Did you try to google the med and look under side effects? Besides, in your message you said the doctor wanted you to stop Tiazac and start the Coreg. Have you tried that yet? One thing with heart meds, it's not a good idea to start and stop them. Plus it may take a month or two for the initial side effects to settle down. Try not to be discouraged. When I first started Diltiazem I had monster headaches for the first 2 weeks and felt like my brain was full of fuzz.
Avatar f tn Doesn't it depend on the type of Diltiazem, whether it's slow release or not? I take the slow release type, once a day. I thought I read the half life is about 16 hours. When I went off of my med, it took 3 days before my chest pains came back. In either case, I'd say (msanxiety) that the med is out of your system by now.
Avatar n tn I'm taking Cardizem and have serious side effects (constipation, ankle swelling, etc.) Is there a comparable drug that does not cause such sever symptoms?
Avatar m tn Referred to another doctor for cardioversion. He put me on diltiazem 180mg . I told him about the problems with tiazac. He told me the lower dose and because along with rythmol would be OK. Some symptoms returned but much less. Had cardioversion May 22, 2012. A-fib returned May 25 2012.Next time hope to be off diltizem. Also I think I will try magnesium (2 gm/day) . Any suggestions etc appreciated.
Avatar f tn ok they say I have PVCs i have no clue!!!! I stopped the tiazac after about 7 days and my blood pressure has gone lower than when i was on it and i am still very dizzy.........heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused.
Avatar m tn ve taken a ccb since i was 18(21 now) and i had some side effects during the initial phase but i no longer have side effects and its helped control tachy and HB for me. I to have asthma but was put on a BB and had a hard time with a cough for awhile and i also experienced severe fatigue and low BP, i had to get off of it asap.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with either of your meds, but can say that I use Metoprolo ER and do get some heart rate slow down with few side effects. You didn't give your age, but I'd suggest you try to bet you HR down to the low 80s if possible. Do you feel dizzy all the time, or just when you make a sudden change in activity, such as getting up from a seated position? If the latter, just get up slowly, and you may find you no longer get dizzy.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
182884 tn?1259312906 He allso put me on a new med called Diltiazem CD. HCL SR capsule, 180 mg. What can you tell me about this med, and what side effects are most common with it's use? My dr. wouldn't tell me all of it's side effects, acutally none of them, because he said he did not want to scare me????? I also get Migraine headaches and have Rayaulds's Disease which are both Vasomotor tone diseases. I haven't taken my first dose yet as I want to know what to expect.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar m tn Any ideas how I can control the A-Fib without all these bad side-effects? Am tempted to dump the Diltiazem and go back to low dose of beta-blocker and hope the nasty side-effects won't be so severe with only 25 mg/day. Feeling like a guinea-pig with an out-of-control heart at this point. Also, is it OK to take 1/2 - 1 mg of Lorazepam during an A-fib episode? It seems to help slow down the racing. Any suggestions/advice very welcome. Thanks!
672586 tn?1280933658 Make sure you see a dentist at least twice a year and make it known you are on ccb. Side effects can occur in some people where gums are affected, but in my case two of my molars crumbled.
Avatar f tn I was on it for a week but my side effects were not very pleasant, a bit out of the norm. They took me off of it. Now I take Diltiazem (another CCB) without much trouble. A heart rate of 86 at night is still pretty brisk. Mine is normally 60 at rest, in the low 70's when I'm up moving around. And that was before Diltiazem. No, I'm not athletic. I'm an old pudgy lady.
Avatar f tn to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment. Anyway, he said that I was over medicated so he lowered my dosage back down to 240 mg. of Diltiazem CD and he also put me on Enalapril 2.5 mg.
Avatar m tn I am fairly convinced these are esophageal spasms wonder why we haven’t tried Muscle-relaxing drugs including nitrate medications, such as isosorbide (Isordil), nifedipine (Procardia), diltiazem (Cardizem, Tiazac, others) or dicyclomine (Bentyl). I also wonder about Hyoscyamine Sulfate and what about this Heller Myotomy surgery (I’m desperate). In December 2012, I had an EGD done and was told it looks excellent, no ill effects of the acid reflux disease and esophagus looks good.
Avatar m tn You would then be taking 220mg of a Beta-Blocker every day. The side effects are not easy to take sometimes, at least in my opinion. I gave up taking it because of those. However, I have been put on Metoprolol ER - 50mg - again four weeks ago and they just don't seem to work. I found out through experimentation years ago that none of the generics worked - it used to be Toprol XL - except when I found them actually made by the original manufacturer and sold as Metoprolol.
Avatar m tn Sounds like the Metoprolol did the job with bad side effects, what does were you taking. The Calcium Channel Blocker should help, but seems it doesn't take care of the high HR. I take both Metoprolol and Diltiazem, 50 mg and 240 mg respectively. They seem to work well together. Maybe you can take a lower dose of Metoprolol along with the Diltiazem, perhaps at a higher dose. Your post implies you nightmares are gone now that you are off of the BB...
Avatar f tn Is there another therapeutic drug with fewer side effects? My loved one is on two drugs, Crestor and Verapamil...but the fatigue is almost debillatating. Help....any thoughts. Any successes out there?
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 33 year old male, not overweight, not diabetic, I've been dealing with tachycardia for some time now. It comes and goes. I found that 50mg of Metoprolol twice a day would mostly control it, but as a 33 year old man, I began to notice major erection issues since being on it. Talked to my doctor, they want me to start 120mg a day of Diltiazem. I'm a little nervous about it, but they assured me it's no more potent a medication.
