i started taking dilantin and im late for my period almost 4 weeks.
I have a TSH of 0.24 and T4 of 1.04. I have been on Dilantin for 30 years. I have been on Thyroid replacement therapy for 18 years with monthly injection of B12. I have had extreme fatigue and chest pains. Seeing neurologist for medicine change and have be referred to endocrinologist. How concerned should I be? What tests should be given? Is this my pituitary gland?
His weight is just between the 3rd and 5th percentile and his height is just under the 50th percentile for his age. His height is normal and due to the low weight he most appears very thin. I do not know his total medical issues, except his low weight and cardiac surgery from what you stated. Quite often when a child is on tube feeds during the day they are not 'hungry' to eat (the feeding formula fills them up) so they do not eat at meals.
It is usually done in interventional radiology where the doctor removes the G tube and then feeds the new tube into the jejunum (middle part of the small intestine). They use the same stoma as the G tube. The main disadvantage is that you can't change a GJ tube at home like you can with a G tube; it has to be done in interventional radiology.
My wifes orthopoedic surgeon injected botox into her right lung, by accident of course. By the time we realized what was happening they were rushing me out of the room and sticking a tube in my wifes lung to reinflate it. She had minutes to live with the pressure building on her heart and other lung. My question is, what damage would 20-60 cc's of botox do. Would it slow her breathing down to 4 breathes a minute?

Stopping Dilantin quickly is not recommended. Although Dilantin is not addicting and is not likely to be abused, stopping it too quickly can cause seizures to worsen.

The most significant Dilantin withdrawal symptom is a seizure. Suddenly stopping Dilantin can increase your risk of seizures These seizures can be especially severe and very difficult to control.
my neuro is taking me off dilantin slowly. i take 400mg daily . my neuro told me dilantin will cause mood swings and cause me to be irritable and was hard on your body after being on them so long. i have started keppra and dropping 1 dilantin a month . i was told my moods will improve and i will start to think more clearly. my neuro told me dilantin does slow your thinking and leaves you in a fog.

This is the reason we have had the site re positioned. The old tract was getting bigger and leaking feed and medication and after trying everything, creams, dressings and a bigger tube with a 20ml balloon (the original had a 6ml balloon) it was decided to try this approach. unfortunately we seem no further forward and he has lost 5kg in 16 days since the procedure. He now weighs 53.
I took 2 old, and 1 new for about a month, then 2 new and 1 old, and am now on 3 new dilantin 100mg. every day. I have been on this for about 2 weeks, and I have not had any problem at all. I do feel kinda nervous about it, though, and never leave home without my medical card in my wallet. (something I never even had to think about with the old dilantin). How about you? Are you on the new capsules? If so, how are you doing?
3 and they gave him a loading dose of 500mg. PO of dilantin, and 500mg. IV Dilantin. He is very regimented taking his Dilantin and does not miss doses.
And told him to take 400mgs. today.

Two meta-analyses (an analytic study combining the results of several clinical trials) done by Sirven, et al (2004) and Tremont-Lukats, et al (2008) showed no benefit to giving anti-epileptic drugs in general, and Dilantin in particular, to patients with brain tumors in order to prevent an initial seizure. Your husband may have an option not to take Dilantin since there's no difference in outcome.
